Title: My latest FB friend request came from...
Post by: Don Boyer on April 29, 2012, 06:31:10 PM
Check it out!

I'm still trying to figure out where he found out about me from.  I'm just hoping it's not something like "Oh, you were on my list of customers!"

Don, it's no surprise, you are famous all over the place: AC, D&D's fb page  ;), your magic tricks in hospitals, and other events such as the BC one.

Congrats man! Haha! It must be nice to receive a req from such a well established figure in the community!

Btw shouldn't this thread be in one of the sections meant for banter?

The photo is in .tiff format which is why you can't view it. It's a friend request from Michael Ammar. If you click on the attachment you can download it and then view it.

I heard back from Michael Ammar.  As it turns out, it was roughly the equivalent of "You're on my customer list!"  I recently liked his fan page and he went over his fan list, discovered fans he wasn't friends with yet and friended them!

Doesn't matter, though - he wrote a very nice reply that even included a sales pitch for his customized version of the old-but-classic Insurance routine.  I love that routine!

WHAT!!! you use a Mac?!?!?! shame on you!

WHAT!!! you use a Mac?!?!?! shame on you!

Shame on me, for using an operating system that as solid as a tungsten-ore rock the size of a mountain?

I've been using Macs ever since the switch to Intel processors a handful of years ago.  Never looked back.  I've had the OS crash only twice in all that time over several machines, and both times the machine fixed itself with no intervention on my part required.  If I had a buck for every time I crashed DOS/Windows (and another buck for every time I had to get into the inner workings to fix it myself, and another buck for every file I ever lost), I'd be living a very nice retirement on a tropical paradise somewhere in the South Pacific...or I'd have a herd of male deer large enough to impregnate Montana; it all depending on how you define "buck"...

In fact, the first time I ever touched a handheld using Windows Mobile, it, too, crashed - it was also the LAST time I ever touched a Windows Mobile handheld.

And I "love" Bing...  Someone figured out when it released that it's an acronym: But It's Not Google...  The search engine that was supposed to end search as we know it couldn't search its way out of a paper bag with a sharpened katana, the one and only time I ever used it.

And who remembers the Zune?  [sounds of chirping crickets]  I thought so...

Or "Clippy," the single most-reviled animated character of all time?

Or the latest downgrade to MS Office, where you no longer have menus to find anything and have to flip through page after page of icons?  What's the matter, words weren't simple enough for the UI people at Redmond?  What's next, typewriter keys that look like children's building blocks?

(Y'see, Josh, some sleeping dogs are best left to lie there, dormant and undisturbed...)

Sorry Don, Probably thats just some bad luck you've run into with windows, been using it most of my life and its fine for me, and recently in America (true story) 50,000+ Macs were found with viruses when Steve said it was impossible for them to get them. Sorry once again, back to the topic.. He a famous Magician? because I haven't really heard of him

Macs aren't immune to viruses, he never said they were.  Viruses are, however, operating system dependent, meaning a Windows virus won't run on a Mac - and nearly all viruses target Windows.  Even if the article is accurate in terms of number of computers infected, that's a drop in the bucket for the number of virus-laden Windows machines that are out there; my email spam folders can attest to the huge number of zombiebots running Windows that are out there under the control of spammers alone...

I've used Macs since 2006, when they switched to Intel processors.  In all that time, I've never once even installed an anti-virus program.  And I've never once had a virus.  I'm not saying they aren't out there, but the architecture does make it far more difficult for a program to simply install itself on my machine than on a Windows machine.

Re: Michael Ammar - he has a lot of instructional DVD releases under his belt, some of which are actually conversions from when the videos were first released on videocassette in the 1980s!  He's been at it a while now.  Check out michaelammar.com - his "Card on Ceiling" trick is classic.  He's a solid performer and an excellent instructor.

I wrote asking him about a company that's making vests equipped with Topits and he was very helpful.  He seems like a nice guy, which you can pretty much tell from his videos.

thats pretty awesome that someone so well established takes the time to talk to all of his customers and say hello. Sounds like a networking master
