Judging from that image, the deck is thus far living up to its name...  :))

The part I like from the website is this quote:

"We received the Mystery Deck Prototypes today - and all we can say is OH MY GOSH. These are at least 10x better than the Style Deck...These are like nothing else you've ever seen.  That's not a marketing pitch..That's a promise."
 -Collin Stover
 CEO, Bedeceived

Like nothing else I've ever seen?  You mean they aren't even PLAYING CARDS?!?  :))  Is this one a divination deck or something?  (LOL)  Or perhaps it's more like a Cuisinart?  Or a Ferrari?

O.M.G. do I have a case of the giggles right now...

Honestly being 10 times better looking than the style deck isn't that difficult.

Anyways.... Time will tell.....

Hmm, so I guess mystery involves faceless clown-ladies that really enjoy eating ice cream. That certainly would be nothing I've seen before.

Which the mystery surrounding this deck, I need more pictures of the cards in action before I can decide whether "they are nothing else like I've ever seen". I've heard that sentence countless of times and I usually just feel "meh".

Honestly I am sick of all these mysterious teaser campaigns the card companies have been overusing.

Just show me how the cards and box look like, make a video on how they handle and I will decide whether it is worth spending money to buy them. If you want to tell a story about your cards (ala Infinity or FCJ), just tell me the bloody story.

I also have seen this deck in full.  I can say that yes it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen.  But... its only because they did the most outrageous thing with the cards.  I just would never have done it.  I still would never do it.  I hope it works in his favor because I know he is passionate but he took a big risk on this one.

The back design for the Mystery deck from Bedeceived has been revealed!
Check it out in this video: http://bedeceived.com/launched/mystery-teasers/

The back is the most simple back I've ever seen... it doesnt get much simpler than that. I've been wanting a plain deck with plain black backs for a while now, and it will soon be here!

That's crazy! The box looks completely black as well! I can see it is aristocrat stock, which is nice. I wonder how these will end out to be.

Although it is "just black", but I love simple designs like LTDs, Apollo etc. So  in my opinion, this is very stylish.

Then again, I have a very strong feeling that the faces will be very custom and that will make or break the deck.

I'm now looking forward to the deck........

Just a lazy design pumped out. I wouldn`t pay for a just black back, that just shows me no effort.

But you haven't seen the box or faces yet. That may make it a breakthrough. And even the BC did the same thing!

Some would call it lazy. Some would call it simple. Just because it is just one solid color, does not mean that it is a lazy design. Also, Bedeceived is a magic company and what looks cleaner and less suspicious to the spectator, a deck with a lot of designs going on and many colors, or one solid color?

I can assure you, the faces will be well worth it.  There's reasoning behind us doing the solid backs, and Evan has pretty much nailed most of it.

Any comment on how your deck's back is identical to HOPC's NOC deck?  NOC comes out Tuesday.

You're jumping to conclusions.  It's entirely possible that both design houses came up with the same idea, and it wouldn't be the first time such a deck was created.  I just want to know what Collin thinks.

Okay that sounds a little too freaky and scary for me hahahah! but admittedly really interesting... but I can't have faceless queens eating icecreams... hahahaha!!!

Yeah the mystery bit IS getting quite old. It was great for a while but then everyone is starting to use it like crazy its driving me nuts. Which is why I just don't bother at times to do guesswork on the upcoming releases or what not. Its nerve wracking. hahaha specially if you are the kind who can't bear not KNOWING. LoL

Any comment on how your deck's back is identical to HOPC's NOC deck?  NOC comes out Tuesday.

It's an unfortunate coincidence, but I can assure you that we both came up with the idea independently.  We received quite a few designs for the Mystery Deck back.  After seeing the designs, they really just didn't deliver what we want the deck to say.  They had no message.  They were just designs that would be forgotten.

We then decided that the focal point should not be on the backs of the cards.  The spectators don't care.  What the spectators care about is the fronts, so we decided to take away any distractions from the amazing front artwork (which is DEFINITELY unique in our case) and create a blank back.  What could be more mysterious?  Cheesy skulls and ghosts?  No.

So around a month ago or so we decided it was settled.  We were going to be bold and be the first company to do a solid colored back.  At this time the HOPC had posted the pictures teasing the colors of their backs, although no one knew at the time what they meant.

You can imagine my surprise and disappointment yesterday when I discovered the intentions, and that's when we decided to reveal our backs to cover any bases in the future of people saying we copied them.

While we may not be the first to do a solid deck now, hopefully we will be the first to do the solid black.  Even if not, I feel our faces are extremely unique, extremely creative, and definitely scream "Mystery".

Let me know if you have any questions and I would be happy to answer them.  We're thinking of doing something pretty cool in the next week or two to really get people geared up for the deck and give them all of the information they could ever want or need.

Well, now I'm actually more interested in the Mystery faces. the style deck didn't disappoint so I reserving my judgement until I see the faces themselves. I actually like the plain black back for now and I don't think the NOC deck has a black one.

You're not getting it. NOC is a plain back in 5 different colors, excluding black. Mystery deck is only plain black. The mystery deck and NOC have different faces. And HOPC is much bigger than NOC. HOPC will be selling more than 5 decks and it will allow people to buy the "perfect" deck.

Boy do I have an easy answer for this... Buy what you like!  Problem solved.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I do want to make a couple of clarifications...

HOPC is a company/website.  NOC is one of the decks we'll be offering, and it will be available in different varieties.

We will NOT be offering one single "perfect" deck.  There's no such thing.  We will be offering decks that will appeal to different desires.  Some people want decks that are good for magic.  Some want decks that are more collectable.  Some want fully custom, others don't.  There is no "one size fits all" solution.  A lot more info will be available on Tuesday.

For the Mystery deck, it appears to be a simple case of independent creation and weird timing between Collin and HOPC.  It's happened to others in the past, and I'm sure it'll happen again.  From what I've been reading, the NOC and Mystery decks will definitely have some differences.  Take a look at everything when it comes out, and buy the deck that meets your needs and desires.

Thanks for that clarification, Reylek. I guess time will show the differences and similarities between the two decks, and hopefully both will be successful. And by "perfect" I meant a deck that fits people's needs better.

I agree with that. There is no ORIGINAL IDEA these days. Everything would have been adapted from something whether we consciously like it or not.  Bedeceived and HOPC may have something similar but I am pretty sure they will be entirely different all together.

so chillax. Let these people work on their decks that I am sure we would be more than happy to purchase in the future right? ^-^

hmmm a good point point but i can tell from many performances with custom decks : People only call you directly on your deck of cards being "fishy" when it´s a black faced deck.
I have no clue why....
maybe because its so odd to see a black faced deck to a laymen.

So no more free world wide shipping for orders above 50USD and 5USD shipping for orders sub 50USD. (that´s what i paid for my Style Decks)
I wanted to buy 3 or maybe 6 decks (depending on the shipping cost) but the new shipping cost kills it for me.
Gonna get my 3 decks from bmppoker or another ebay reseller in a larger order.

These are sweet. Court cards are awesome. Really like the solid black backs. The only thing I would have done differently is changed the jokers for this deck. They are basically the same jokers as the style deck.  Unless bedeceived wants to be known for their trademark jokers? This deck will be a classic in a few years like smoke and mirrors.

I realise you're probably not intending to be bragging about getting free gear at every opportunity, but that is how it appears.

The Mystery Deck - is a mystery no more!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from this deck and was pleasantly surprised to find they're better than I thought they'd be.  The art has much more detail than I thought it would and the back actually ISN'T the same as the NOC decks!  Whereas the NOC decks come to a hard border, this black back has a slight fade effect, like a solid version of the black Stingers.

Of course, Aristocrat stock + Magic Finish = smooooooooove!  :))

BTW: Evan - you're mentioned by name on the "Special Thanks" card!

I really love the look of this deck. I cant wait to open mine up when I get back.

Thanks for the pics Don, and thanks for pointing that out!

I'm signed up at the Bedeceived Shell (their forum), and for my birthday exactly 2 months ago, I got a free Mystery deck. However since it didn't exist back then, I got it shipped to me about a week ago. I absolutely love it. The back isn't actually like the NOCs: it's faded and I like the look much better despite it being black. Plus, the faces are gorgeous and the handling is, well, USPCC handling.

Hmm, this sounds pretty familiar...  Oh, yeah - perhaps it's because, aside from the birthday stuff, I said almost exactly the same thing THREE WEEKS AGO...

Don, as far as I'm considered, I have freedom of speech. I am stating my views and what I've noticed as well as a a nice gift I received. I find your reply very rude and out of place.

I don't think what Don said was right and it did seem very rude but Nathan just posted a lot of  things in a bunch of old threads and a lot of them were pretty pointless.

Yes, but Don has already talked to me about that, and this had nothing to do with it.

Regardless if Nathan brings up old topics does it mean someone has to reply to almost all of them leaving us with the same information we had when we originally clicked the post. No? Does this person still do it? Ya. Thus there is little to no difference in nathan or said person replying to nathan.

I have spoken to Nathan about it.  I have absolutely no problem with ANYONE digging into an old topic and breathing new life into it, as he did for a topic on Lee Asher's upcoming Jerry's Nuggets sale.

But when you're doing things like digging into STISO posts that have had no activity in a month and are about to be closed, what's the point?  I also got on his case about tossing comments into someone's sale post when he's got no intention of buying or selling anything involved - this goes against forum rules.

A good percentage of his posts didn't add much to the conversation - he wisecracked about people being "afraid" of a KS deck being made that's closing later this week with little hope of success, but the last thing anyone had said about it was over three weeks prior, when the posts he was commenting on might have actually had any relevance.  It's no different than if he wrote an op-ed piece in today's paper about what a terrible job Richard Nixon is doing as president - it's pointless and moot.

Once in a while, we all have come across topics where all we wanted to say was a simple "hey, I like this" or something a bit lacking in substance beyond simple chit-chat.  That's fine, if you're posting about something that's current and that people are still talking about, and if you don't make a habit out of it.  But he's commenting at a rapid-fire pace on nearly every topic that hasn't had new activity for weeks like they were written an hour ago.  I don't even do this, and I've got (or so I've heard) people at UC complaining that I'm a spammer here simply because I have over 5,000 posts, regardless of the content in them.

Nathan, I have nothing personal against you, but you actually CAN simply read a post, absorb the information within and NOT COMMENT every now and then.  Serious posts with current and relevance information are always welcome, but if you can't think of anything that rises above the level of chit-chat on an old and inactive topic, just read it, digest the contents and move on.  I know you've been on a vacation, but that doesn't make the chit-chat posts more relevant to anyone but you.

If you want to pursue this further, then I'll split the topic and move these posts to the LOLAQ, but if not, then let's please stick to the topic, or just let sleeping dogs lie.

Regardless if Nathan brings up old topics does it mean someone has to reply to almost all of them leaving us with the same information we had when we originally clicked the post. No? Does this person still do it? Ya. Thus there is little to no difference in nathan or said person replying to nathan.

If the bulk of his posts are just a half-step above being spam, it does get annoying, and I'm not the only member who thinks so.  Most of Nathan's comments I've simply left alone, but it was becoming ridiculous just how many of these outdated topics he was commenting on with little or nothing of substance to add beyond "I like this" or similar.  And commenting on a sales post made by someone seeking to sell a lightly-damaged box of White Monarchs to a fellow Singaporean that's been inactive for over a month when he's not even close to being a potential customer and wants to say hi is just plain ridiculous, in addition to being against STISO rules.  The blasted topic would have been locked already if I had swept the forum a day earlier!  That's what PMs and the Introduce Yourself forum were invented for.

Hi,
this is my first post here :)

I try to find Mystery Deck on ebay, but I didn't find something.

Does anyone know where I can find it or if someone here could lose a deck?

Thank you!

We just sold our last few, but hoping to get some more soon. You can drop your email in the box if you want to know when they are back in. I should add we're UK based, so it may not be cost effective for you if you're in the States.
