Here is another deck on kickstarter!
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1445917233/ultraviolet-playing-cards-from-beta17?ref=live
At first glance, i didn't really like the back design but after really looking at it, I like it a lot! Very simple but still nice looking. Plus, I love the color they used! The faces look very unique and I love how the court cards are set up! I will be pledging for some.
This is a USPCC deck!
EDIT: They're very expensive! I really wish these were a little less :bosswalk:
-
To me, the bask design reminds me of modern design. It sure is a difference picture than what you are used to seeing. The color also is a new one for me, which I like. Never before have I seen a deck with a dark purple color scheme like that. The layout of each court card is also another difference. To me, the pip cards look great with their layout, but the court cards are a bit... bare. I'm not a big fan of much white left of a card, especially with a court card, and this deck is no exception. Overall, I do think this deck is worth getting just because it's not something you see everyday. I might be getting this somewhat in the future. :)
-
I actually like the minimalistic design of the back, you don't get many purple decks so that's a plus as well. It's just that i'm not used to the custom display of the card faces. Seems a bit confusing for cards like nines and tens, too many things on the face but that's just my opinion. However, I'll be watching this to see how it goes as well, maybe picking up one or two in the future.
-
I have messaged him about pricing and to come over and join the conversation about it.
I personally like it except too expensive, even just for 2 decks, i would have to pay $35 for 2!!
just watched the video and I would really love to pledge for these! but again bit too expensive
-
Simple, PURPLE, USPCC... looks okay. I'm not too fond of the borders along the top and bottom of the card though. But overall its a good deck.
They have to work on their kickstarter packages though. Like Josh said.. its a bit too pricey... even more than the seasons (almost) so yeah.
-
These have a nice look to them. I like the court cards and the layout on the front of the cards. I like the color of the back, but the design is lacking in my opinion. For the price they are selling them I'll have to pass.
-
I like the purple shade a lot, and the faces are some of the most elegant I have ever seen. It's been a while since the video promoting a KS deck shows the creator flourishing, and it feels good! They are pricey, and will only back these if the price drops to 8-10$.
-
I like the purple color since there isn't many of those around but I do think the design needs improvement and if Josh says they're expensive, since we live in the same country i'll take his words for it. Hopefully major updates will come soon that will make me pledge for it
-
Diet, wanna go halves in a brick or something? same with the grid deck?
-
HMmm wait what does a Brick mean? and I'm already backing up Grid with the $15 option ae
-
a brick is 12 decks, so 6 each
-

a brick mean 12 playing cards .. and a gross mean 144 decks of playing cards
i personally really like the deck .. let be honest you do not get alot of purple deck and it is also going to be printed by USPCC .. i am really curious what kind of finish and stock they uses . i might be pledging for 1 brick of those since 1 brick of the cards cost $100 which mean 1 deck is only 8.334 ( round up ) which is consider okay for a custom deck .. i really like the layout and back design of the deck since it look very simple .. but i think that this deck will only look good in cuts and flourish just now like wynn .. the fan and giant fan will be very boring since the back design does not have any design and also the front have very large and fat pip which will not show in a fan
-
Yes, like the back design too. Very minimalistic, but with some style. Not convinced on the faces of the court cards - with small court images next to the pips. (Almost like triplicates from yesteryear decks).
I would pledge except for the high costs per deck... and the target is $15,000 - which might be a big ask in today's custom deck climate. As hawjinjian notes, the brick for $100, or even the $50/5 deck, options look more inviting, but limit the number of market of small pledges.
-
i am really curious what kind of finish and stock they uses .
They mentioned on their website that the deck will be "Air cushion finish, performance coating, high quality paper stock" but didn't exactly say what stock though. On a side note, kinda hope they consider using UV-500 so at least the cards could react to UV slightly. It suits the name of the deck.

Thanks man i did not see that ..

yup me too .. maybe for some people it more stylish but i think the court cards lack of alot of details .. as it is just a same picture

You say you can't afford them yet you want to go half a brick with someone? Why not just buy a couple of each, whatever you can afford, and enjoy them, instead of trying to get bricks of everything?
As for the cards, the back design is pretty nice, the faces are weird and might be awkward for magic or anything card related but they are very interesting. The video was very professional and nice to see on a kickstarter for a change. I might back this up but he's going to have a tough time reaching his goal of $15,000 imo.

USPC doesn't generally offer UV500 stock because it's prohibitively expensive. They made an exception for David Blaine's White Lions. It doesn't even show up on a USPC price list.
There are four stock choices: Bicycle, Aristocrat, Bee and Bee Casino. That's pretty much the correct order from lightest to heaviest.
-
I'm a sucker for simple elegant designs, and this deck is all about that. Plus in PURPLE, which isn't something you see often. The starting price point is a little high though and with new decks coming out every week I'll probably wait till their goal has been reached before pledging for a couple.
International backers will be happy to know that shipping is only $5-$7 at most!
P.S I'm curious as to why only the clubs have been customised...

Urghhh... you're right. It would be cool though if that was the case, goes along well with the name. But with the cost of it... Yeap, pretty sure they're smart to not go for the UV-500 stock.

Hey guys, Patrick from beta17 here. Thank you thank you thank you! Your feedback is extremely valuable and the cardistry/magic community is very important to us.
Thought I'd address a few of the questions you guys have on this deck. Firstly we'll be printing on either Aristocrat or Bee stock, given that the USPCC has quoted us the same price for either. Also we know that some of you really like the minimalism of this deck and I just want to assure you that it's all in the details: for instance, even though the court cards feature smaller faces, every one of those faces have been totally reworked to match the minimal style of the deck, not just made smaller. Also; all of the pips are custom, the club is the most extreme but each has been treated so that the angles match those of the logo and type design.
Thanks again so much for your appreciation and feedback.

Hi Patrick thank you so much for addressing some of the questions that were asked.
I'll be staying in tuned to your KS Ultraviolet deck.
Best of luck on your endeavors Patrick. ^_^

Hi Patrick,
Thank you for joining us on these forums, we are glad to have you with us. Is there any way the price for one deck could be a little lower? I know that I am a bit reluctant to fund it because of its price.
-
How am I just now hearing about this deck? I love it! I plan on pledging for a few.
I see he is 50% with 17 days to go... did he start with 30 days? I really want to see this deck come to the market.
-
The project has 5 more days to go and they are short of 6k !! so for people who like the decks but haven't pledge for it yet .. do it right now .. There is hardly a purple deck on the market !!
btw there have also posted a new video there is on their kickstarter page .. do check it out
-
Well it's likely this deck isn't going to get funded with over $5000 to go and only 4 days left. Doesn't help they are asking for $13 a deck. I know I only pledged for one but if they were cheaper I would have gone for more. I think the face design of the cards being so odd and different also hurts things.
-
Another thing that is killing this deck is its goal. Few decks can surpass the 15,000$ mark without some advertising on various sites, which the creator of this deck hasn't done.
-
Another try with much better prices: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1445917233/ultraviolet-playing-cards-from-beta17-0?ref=live

Unfortunately its still got the $15,000 target. Whilst the prices (per deck) have come down, they're going to need a significant number of extra pledges to get to it now. Essentially they need the volume to make up for the losses with people not needing to pledge as much.
I for one will probably be pledging less, not more, as although I do like the design, I don't need more...
-
I backed again. I'm glad they restructured their pledge/reward system.
-
Just backed too.
Last time I didn't back because of the price.
This time I backed for half brick. Really like the design :)
-
I like the way they restructured it. I'm pretty sure they'll reach their goal this time around. The deck is beautiful. All 3-deck-packages are sold out though, as well as the 6-deck-package. Bummer. I hope they'll add more.
I think we should change the name of this thread to "UltraViolet Deck Returns on Kickstarter" so people can join the new campaign.
-
There are still 3 decks package for 25$
-
There are still 3 decks package for 25$
I am talking about the custom "beta17 packages" as they call them.
-
The reason I didn't pledge last time was because of the prices and I'm sure many people feel the same way. This was a smart idea and I really think it will succeed this time around.
-
i think the price are pretty reasonable right now .. if you pledge for 1 brick or more then 1 deck will only cost you 6.25
-
i, personally, love the look of this deck, but its not lookin like its going to get funded. so if you like it and have been on the fence or thinkin about waiting till after market sales pledge now.

I do think it will get funded. If it gains as much this week as it did last week, then it should get funded.
Plus, here's an update:
-
There's eight days and less than $2,350 to go. If they can keep up the progress, they'll make it, but I don't imagine they'll strike very deep into overfunding territory.

I'm really crossing my fingers for them to put in place a bonus system to incite people to upgrade their pledges. We can see it worked very well for Hidden Mirrors, even in the last couple of hours. For this deck, it would allow some leeway for credit card failures as well.
-
Lets get this funded guys! These are awesome cards.
Tight now you can ad $20 to your pledge and get an uncut sheet.

With a bit over 1,000$ to go, I wouldn't be surprised to see them succeed. I hope they also add a bonus similar for decks (i.e. add 7$ to your pledge and get another deck)
-
The Kickstarter campaign is done!
123% Funded ( $18,532 of $15,000 goal ) with 604 backers!
And they write..

Congrats again guys

Indeed, congrats to you guys. What an amazing last week. Whoever thought this wouldn't reach his goal or be very close was wrong. And that's all thanks to you guys. You put out an amazing deck, and did a great campaign.
-
Congrats on getting the Ultraviolet deck funded! I hope I get a chance to get my hands on these.
-
Has anyone received their Ultraviolet decks yet?
Or had the creators reply to any emails?
-
I got an email a few hours ago saying my decks have been shipped. Hopefully in a few days I'll have them.
-
I got my decks about a week ago, never got an email to confirm shipping or anything they just randomly showed up in my mailbox.
