Title: New Dan & Dave Variety Box
Post by: nimblewitted on September 01, 2012, 12:06:57 AM
Looks like they put out a new variety box. It's got some decks I've never heard of like the Pit Harling deck:

This is quite a horrible vb relative to the previous ones

How is this horrible? I think it's rather worth the money. All of the decks are OOP and not obtainable for purchase off the main site anymore. If you add the value all up they cot more than what they are selling. As compared to v3-5 I think this is quite worth the money.

Just ordered mine, and I have to agree with Sieg, the total value of the individual decks add up to about $220 USD, so for $124 it's pretty dang worth it. Plus there aren't any crappy S&M v6's taking up precious space in that box :)

I'll have to agree with both of you guys. That Chinatown deck is at least worth as much as half of the box!

This has gotta be one of the better variety boxes

Seems like they included the limited deck we saw in another post (Can't remember which, the one with the shiny glittery golden look...) wonder how the cards inside look like

I have to agree that this variety box is pretty cool. The too kadvantage of their latest unreleased and very limited decks to sell it as a rare item, but that's not too bad  ;) Not to mention that the boxes and the display look gorgeous!

If only this box had the IAOCP deck, I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. Until then, I will hold off.

I went ahead and took advantage of this deal.  I ended up buying 2 variety boxes.  Every variety box that has been coming out lately has been complete garbage.  My eyes got big when I seen this one and didn't even hesitate in buying 2.  Money well spent on an awesome, awesome deal.

I missed out. Does anyone who picked up 1 or more want to sell me one? I would also trade as well. Please let me know.

I missed out as well, seems like Dan & Dave are getting too lazy to promote anything, This is the second release of theirs i've missed now because they don't bother to promote anything and by the time I find out it's too late. Oh well glad I saved my money since I already have most of those decks anyway, all except for one, which i'm sure I can find elsewhere if I want it.

I have to confess, this time they did a decent job putting together this Variety Box - it's one of the better ones they've had since the early days of their Variety Boxes.

I think Pit is a British magician.  I've heard of him and this deck before.

they dont even have to promote it since they only put out a bunch. Its actually pretty annoying that everything is so exclusive. Even people that dont want them will buy it just to turn a profit.

They didn't promote it all over the place like all their S&M crap if that's what you mean, they did send out a 24 hours notice on twitter, so that's still gotta count.

I've also seen the Pit Hartling and Robert Graham deck else where, but I didn't really give them a second thought. I hope they're good though, I don't want some English Laundry situation with these decks....

I really do think this is the best money for value VB so far (besides the random JN VB at the start), glad I managed to get one :)

Pit Hartling is a German magician. He was one of the Flicking Fingers group. He speaks, German, Spanish and English. He is very good.

A link to info on the deck. It sells for about $15.00, not including shipping from Europe.

The box was good... I would have perhaps considered it if I saw it in time... Where did anyone see the Graham deck... I've been waiting / looking for this for some time...

Does the "lovely" display box and the brothers signatures actually add any value to this set?

I want to open this thing up and mount the decks on my wall and sell the ones I already have, but I have no clue if I would be better reselling this thing in a couple months and then buy the decks I am missing that are contained in it individually.
I have never had a love for custom brick boxes, due to the way I display my cards they don't get seen.

Any thoughts?
Which would be better ?
Sell the Arrcos. White lions, Ace fulton midnights, Tahoes, and Jaqks.
or
sell the whole thing in a month or two and buy the others individually.

You should sell your extras. That would lower the cost of your vb by a lot. I might want the midnight depending on the price. The vb with signatures is def worth some money but ever since they stop numbering them I think they are not worth as much.

I liked the box a lot- a few previously unseen decks (at least on a massive scale compared to everything else in the box), and that Game of Death Chinatown deck really pushes it over the edge. The value of the decks in the box absolutely justifies the $124 price tag, in my opinion. If only they'd replaced the Fantastique with something else, it'd be perfect. Other than that, this has to be one of the better Variety Boxes D&D have offered. Anyone have an extra for trade? I bought the Red Lion B's over this box, and really would love to own one. Thanks.
