Ogma Deck from Skulkor
-----------------
Release Date: Late September, 2012
Where: http://www.skulkor.com/ogma-deck.html
Not much info on this deck yet. This is the second deck from Skulkor. Their first one wasn't so great but this one looks much better.
-
Meh. Not bad. I'm not really liking the brown colorway though.
-
At least it isn't standard faces this time!
-
They didn't vary it much either
-
I actually like the design - it's standard, but it's not - but I don't think I'll be rushing to get a pack of these. Too many decks, not enough cash. The suck factor isn't quite as high as on the Skulkor deck, but let's hope they stop with the creepy ad campaign and making people wait months for orders for no good reason.
-
This one like really nice!!! I like it :D
-
i want to see the back design~~

i want to see the back design~~
You and me both. I do like the fronts, but can't say I'd even consider it without seeing the backs.

ogma back they posted...
it makes me dizzy~~ and i see the color red going in circles....
-
I like them but I hope the actual card doesn't cause the dizziness like the pic they posted

i think it's the pattern that is causing the dizziness . it's optical illusion like what they are promoting. it's interesting. anyone know if any company done this before??
-
That has got to be one of the ugliest deck backs I've ever seen. I get a headache just remembering what it looks like.
This is a definite PASS for me, hands down. Final answer.
-
It's sad because the faces were pretty cool and they made the back ugly as hell!
-
On paper the effect isn't anywhere near as powerful as it is on a computer screen.
Still, while the illusion is cool, what the heck is up with the sphere thing in the middle? I'd be 10x more interested if it was just the illusion, perhaps simply fading into the middle.

My bet would be they have a gaffed card similar to the double-backer with reveal from the Vaudeville deck.
That's still one truly ugly back to me. Paper or screen. Not loving it one bit. But I'm sure the Brotherhood is thrilled! :))
-
Yay, finally a deck that actually makes me puke, literally.
That back design is just a pain in the eyes, I literally can't look at it without getting nauseous.... I passed on the Skullkor, passing on these too, I can't imagine using these in a performance and having to stop half way to throw up :(

"Printed on Prime Casino Stock with the brand new Skulkor Exclusive Performance Caoting to finish up with true slickness. These coating takes one extra process, and can only apply on 1000 decks at a time. Each card runs just the right friction to creat the perfect sesation for your fingertips." - Skulkor
Umm... what do you guys think of this? I don't buy it.
-
The Ogma Deck Trailer is AWESOME!

You liked that? Really? I felt they did way to much editing on the video.

Sounds like BS. And I have a decent BS detector.

I agree with John. And the only new, interesting thing they did was show off that annoying card back to show how it can induce vertigo. Yeah, my spectators would NEVER suspect such a deck of being rigged or gaffed in some way...not.

i sense this deck is not popular here :) i am curious to see how their gold metallic ink looks compare to ellusionist, t11 and TBC. and of course the supposedly new finish, doesnt metallic ink always pair up with magic finish so the cards can actually fan well??

Skulkor's creepy ad campaign and secretive nature turned a LOT of people off. For the Skulkor deck, most people got the impression that the deck was being postponed so long for shipment because they were using their order cash to pay for the print run that wasn't completed, rather than the cockamamie excuse they gave having something to do with making sure everyone gets their decks at the same time or some such nonsense.
USPC has exactly two finishes in use right now and two paper stocks. The finishes are "standard" and Magic. The stocks are Bicycle and Bee Casino. There is no custom finish made just for these clowns, no more than a custom finish was used for De'vo's Blades series decks, despite all the hyperbole. Magic Finish has actually become the default finish for custom decks out of the Custom Department - you have to request "standard"! They saw so many people liked it so much that there was no point in not using it as the default. I learned much of this recently in a conversation with a big customer of the Custom Department.

Skulkor campaign is indeed creepy, but back to the finish part. i do know that there are only 2 finishes magic and standard but how about the Ivory finish on the CARC cards. And supposedly the new finish on the new white lions. They do handle a lot better than most of the custom decks. IMO D&D's vintage plaid and the white lions B are two of the best handling cards i own. lets assume there are no other finishes, so the high quality of those decks are just purely comes from a good combination of stock and finish??

Card stocks come in two versions - smooth and textured. Ivory Finish on a CARC deck is usually just "standard" finish on a smooth Bee Casino stock. Most Bee and Bicycle decks with a smooth texture are labeled "Ivory", with a few Bikes being called "Smooth Finish" - it's all the same thing. Aviators are pretty much smooth Bicycle stock with standard finish. The one exception to CARC using only standard finish thus far is the black/silver Acorn Backs - they used Magic Finish to improve handling with the metallic ink. The "Ivory" version of that deck was the first smooth stock to be coated in Magic Finish - it handles very nicely.
There are MANY factors that can affect the handling of a card, beyond the simple choice of stock and finish. You should check out the "Fact or Fiction" sticky topic at the top of the Playing Card Plethora.

got my ogma today!
i tried out the illusion thing they had in the video and it works! it's exactly the same as the video. the only thing is you really have to focus on the centre and let your eye do the rest while moving the card REALLY slowly in circular motion.
-
I got my Ogma decks today as well!

ivory wax sealed ogma deck for $1!!
You do realize that's like shouting "FIRE" in a crowded theater...OK, a small crowded theater, but still... :))
What exactly do you mean by that? Who is selling this deck at that price?
-
skulkor is selling them.
they posted a picture yesterday saying $1 deck
and today they officially launch their iTwist trick
so it's a combo pack. buy the trick and add 1 dollar to get the ivory sealed deck.
-
these are not as good as i expected. Although the silver metallic ink was well done. The "gold" ink on the court cards are not even metallic, and the color is very brownish. IMO the so call new finish is just magic finish, they are extremely slippery right out of the box. the handling is good, but i bought them mainly to check out their gold/silver metallic ink, which is a fail to me.
