Title: Ellusionist: Major Additions and Revelations
Post by: Don Boyer on November 13, 2012, 12:57:13 AM
Just received an email from E with that title.

"Don't miss the first 48 hours.
"Countdown coming soon."

Any bets on this being the lead-in to their Black Friday campaign?  It's only ten days away now.

I just wish these bleedin' teasers would have more steak and less sizzle.  Why be so bloody cryptic?

I CANT WAIT FOR BLACK FRIDAY!

I can.  Too much crap coming out all at once and only so much cash to go around.  I'd prefer something more like Black December...

They did have an announcement months ago of three new deck projects, of which only one has been released - though perhaps it was two, if you count the Sultan Republic Treasury Edition as a separate release.

Don,

I hope you're filling the void in your life to actually accomplish something. Apply to police foundations.

The comical atrribute, to this entire "Troll Debocle" you have so insightfully pointed out, is, unlike you, I actually exist past the depths of my computer screen, and share human interatcion.

Where you see malicious opinianted comments, I actually may speak some truth to what I post about. I guess you'll never know. But I'll keep an eye on your order history. Might find something extra in your package one day. . .

I assume, from the words I *carelessly* crafted above, an oh so scary *ban* will be in order. I want you to really enjoy the feeling of power you get, when you take that executive roll in clickng that button. Own it! Claim what's yours!

But I will be back. In one form or another. Proxy, internet cafe, or masked IP's - I bid you a terrific, and spledid day (behind your computer screen)

And dont forget! JOIN THE REPUBLIC!!

Also, proxy is a masked IP you stupid fucktwat. Listing them twice is redundant. And if you actually go to an Internet cafe to be with us, then I think we have definitely won that battle considering how heavily we influence your life.

That must be at least his third alias.  Ah, Eggman...

Was there really any point to all of the bogus claims?  Claims that have already been clearly disproved?

I gained two things from his last message.

1) He really doesn't know how rich of a life I lead, and how little of it is through a computer screen.

2) He still can't spell to save his life.

"But I'll keep an eye on your order history. Might find something extra in your package one day. . ." Real malicious sir, would you like to continue to show us how tough you are? Kindly fuck off...

Sincere regards.

EDIT: "Debocle" is not a word, fool. "Debacle" would be more suitable attired.

Y'know, I thought I saw a countdown yesterday, and then it was gone with the message that the countdown begins soon...  I guess I wasn't having a pre-senior moment!

So, why has no one reported this interesting new deck before?

Title: Re: Ellusionist: Major Additions and Revelations
Post by: sr15 on November 14, 2012, 04:37:35 PM
Evan reported it on his FB page but I guess no one thought to make a topic

Basically for E has a new deck for 7 bucks. It's on a "pre-sale" right now until some time Friday, and then will be fully released on the 23rd (which could be black friday, I haven't checked). A 50 dollar purchase before this friday will get you an LTD deck as well, which isn't a bad deal if you're looking for one. I actually was planning on getting the Sultan deck anyway since I already have the treasury deck, so that plus the fathom deck plus maybe a couple other things would get me to 50 bucks pretty easily.

The fathom deck itself looks pretty cool. I might try to look for some better pictures before making a purchase becuase there isn't really a good shot of them right now, but I don't think it would be necessary because from what I can tell, the design looks pretty interesting. I think it looks better than the republic deck from what I can tell.

Wait! - Weren't the LTD. deck said to be exclusively released for the 2011 Holiday Season? What's up with that?

Anyway, my thoughts:

Website = Yay! - More simplistic, but is it me, or is the site running slower - It's not from the traffic, because they released the site a while ago.
Fathom = Gorgeous
New Wristband = Cool, but is it waterproof?

Well, for starters, it's called Halo. You wonder why? Well, it glows.
As far as I know, it serves no other purpose besides to looking amazingly cool.

Here's an excerpt from E:
"The first of its kind, Halo integrates a state-of-the-art optic system within a handsome black wristband, allowing you to make a statement at the touch of a hidden button.

A masculine showpiece, the Halo system features the Ellusionist logo in trademark red asking you to do nothing but trust the instinct.

Go out. Get Noticed. Be Powered by the Halo.

Thick, masculine wristband
Super-cool distressed container
Available in S, M, and L
Lights up via embedded fiber optic system
Comes with two batteries
Durable clasp, hidden "ON" button"

If you had to ask me, I'd say it's worth the $17 price tag.  ;D

You been living in a cave in Tora Bora or something?  They've had at least one other release of LTD earlier this year.  Looks like they're dragging it out when they need to sell something, big-time.

It's decorative - period.  Not a magician's gaff, unless you really get creative.  It's jewelry.

Cool-looking jewelry, but jewelry nonetheless.

Good thing I don't have to ask you!

As a magician, it can be a blessing (when used as a distraction) or a curse (when it draws attention to that hand right when you don't want it).

And I seriously doubt it's water resistant.  That would be a selling point - something they'd advertise.

I know they had other releases before. I even participated in one of them. But I seriously thought they were a one-time thing.

Well, if it were up to me, I wouldn't be using it during things like that because of the luxury of the item. I know it's a wristband that should be showed off, but it also has a very expensive price tag (for a wristband) along with it. Either way, I still understand your point.

I think it would be awesome, hope to get one with my next purchase. I think having something flashy like that would attract attention and I don't know about you but when I see wristbands I like to know what they are for. If people ask me I then have a door of opening to perform.

Just finished placing my order, and there was a little something missing...

It looks like as part of the redesign, they may have eliminated the free gift tiers!  I intentionally spend just barely over $75 in order to get a free deck of Blue Masters, but nope, it wasn't offered.  There's no link to the list on the home page anymore, either.

I tried checking my account, but the site's still glitchy - got a bunch of HTML gobbledygook.

That's the first thing I noticed when they mentioned a free LTD. deck at $50.
If you try to visit previous link, it says "404 Not Found". - However, they might have just changed the URL.

Well, now the whole site's down again, replaced with "NEW".  I'd wager that the Fathom pre-release was a "live-fire exercise" of the new site before the Black Friday grand reopening.  Honestly, the old site was overdue for a little remodeling.

Just got my fathom decks today. That was when I realized something.. It has a one way back...  :(

Personally, I don't really like one-way backs and some may argue that the one-way back in fathom might not be too notice-able (I certainly did missed it myself when I was buying them :P). Don't get me wrong, the cards themselves look great especially in giant fans and I actually liked what they did for the faces as well.

If this is indeed a four-set deck of the four elements (no speculation intended), then I sure hope the other 3 (if any) would be two-way backs.

Just got my fathom decks today. That was when I realized something.. It has a one way back...  :(

There's no need to speculate - it will be a four deck series of the elements, they said as much on the Fathom order page.  As far as two-way backs - did you know that practically all Ellusionist decks come with an extremely well-hidden one-way marking of some kind?  I was kind of stunned to learn it - we have a topic around here somewhere on hidden one-way marks on playing cards.

Ellusionist is a magic store and caters to magicians first and foremost.  Hidden one-way marks are one of the oldest tricks in the magician's arsenal.
