Mojo (named from X-Men) and Turbo (I talk too fast) together means "Fast Magic"
My steamboats are opened as are ALL my decks. I play with my cards. But I can't find a date on the box anywhere. But I've had em forever. Where would I find out what year they were from?
Not on the box. There should be a date under the ace of spades, I believe.
the ace says Z2700 at the bottom and the bottom of the case is just a UPC code, I "want" to say that I bought em about 10 years ago or so at a grocery store
So, what kind of seal, bro? The world wants to know!

ha ha
Well, I was born in 1968, so I am pretty sure that I didn't buy a deck of cards when I was 10. I'm going to have to say it was from 1999 then, cause this was one of my first decks and back then.... I wasn't careful with the seal. Because it's gone.
You did say it was barcoded!
you're a peeler
ha ha, well that's the thing....I guess my biggest problem is in my massive collection. In my younger feeverish days, I amassed a canon of videos and books, skimmed em for a few good tricks and then went on to the next big thing. I have been doing that since I started, always feeling the effect of "not having the best" and wanting more. I am such a victim of advertising.
Now, at 44, I turn and look back at this HUGE pile and think. There is several lifetimes of magic in there. I don't need to go forward, I need to go back. So I am just now beginning to take it all in and ask that EXACT question. WHERE?
The truth is, I don't refer back to any of them. I buy and I move forward....it's a ridiculous thing. More than the latest trick, I need direction, I need a map, you know?
It's why I've basically stopped buying magic until I get through what I have.

Hi, my name is David and I am an addict.
:D
I'm so glad someone else in the world shares my dilemma. Yea, I am not buying any more either. But thank you so much for your recommendations. I picked up the Card Tricks Encyclopedia and have been reading it by my bedside. It's kind of like my "go to " book when I feel I need to start over from scratch.
Thank you so much Don, you have been an amazing help and comfort.
I was organizing my collection the other day and realized I also have an original ARCO deck, shees - the D & D box looks so spot on, I thought I bought a dupe
I can tell that the deck on the left is a reproduction, but I don't think it was a D&D repro.
QuoteI can tell that the deck on the left is a reproduction, but I don't think it was a D&D repro.
I think you're right, if memory serves, their repro had each deck wrapped in silver foil? I got my repros (also a black and a green deck) on eBay. Wow Don once again, you are a verifiable cornucopia of information. Can you come over and go through my decks and tell me something about all of them? Ha ha.
Thanks again! Hey, why is this the dot com called "aethercards " but this forum is called "The Discourse?" There has to be a story there. And I have seen a few mods, but who RUNS/OWNS this site?
New additions to my family
Try the photo with the flash turned off next time - you might get better results.

Welcome to the forums, by the way and...is a "cardician" the same as a "cardist"?
I am neither, being merely a collector.

The important thing is that you're having fun collecting them. Without that, why bother?
picked this KEM case up at an antique store, but have no info about it - just thought it was cool
The 808's I figure are from 1984 based on the amount of fading and grime on them
CODE F's were printed in either 1924 1944 1964 1984 2004
Yea, I asked Lee Asher about the case, he hadn't seen it either but guesses it predates the buy out
Court Cards as asked for
wow, so many new decks as of late who can keep up.....
You know for me (and this is just me) I think when some people count their collection, they count every single deck and for a lot of collectors what I see is multiple copies of the same deck repeated. Like, if they get a brick of the same deck - they count that as "12" in their collection and not just "1" I get that.
But for me, having 12 blue rider backs and 13 reds, doesn't "count" as 25... it's just 2. You will probably open a lot of those, play with them, give some away - who knows.
I have 3 piles.
My collection - which is NO duplicates
My cards I play with - duplicates of what I have in my collection
and extra decks I am either going to sell or give away
So when I go to count... which someone asked me do - 503 - that is in my collection... that number is strictly single decks. No duplicates what so ever.
Not trying to brag, but when you count 503 decks, you want to put that number somewhere... so... I put it here.
I use the sports card boxes as well, but my comic shop only has the size that holds 25 decks (or is it 26?)
