Post by: KPopFever605 on February 16, 2013, 12:22:41 AM
I'm not going to surprise the deck for you:

I know we already have a thread on this deck, but I believe this sale is so outstanding that it deserves its own thread!

What?!? Over 40 bids and over $2,000 for one deck! I don't care how limited that deck is, it better be signed by Houdini or Jesus Christ to make up for that price. Holy hell.

Ridiculous. Since when is a signature and a shiny seal worth $2,000? That is an absolutely ludicrous price.....unbelievable. I'll stick to the $7 version, thank you very much.

I suspect some serious shill-bidding is taking place here.

You can hear the sound of our jaws collectively dropping on the floor.... The thing is, even if you win the deck, what're you gonna do with a deck worth over $2000?!?!

Guys, there are rare, vintage decks, practically one-of-a-kind they're so rare, that aren't worth two grand - and climbing!  No one IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would pay two grand for a modern deck.  Even two hundred is pushing the limit of believable.  So either there's a deranged bidder or two out there with cash to burn or there's some serious fake bids in there.  Could be shills, could be kids who thought it would be a laugh - either way, this is ridiculous.

This is officially ridiculous. You'd have to be bonkers to bid for that!  :o

The one thing that baffles me the most about this auction is that Ellusionist said on their facebook page that there are several others of these; implying that they'll be available via other means. It's not even one of a kind. I actually feel that someone won't end up paying in the end and that as Don said, it could be for a laugh.

Both signatures on the same box would be AWESOME!

E said that someone was caught placing fake bids and those were all removed, and the deck currently sits at just over $180. Much more reasonable, but still insane.

I didn't know that one member could raise the bid like that. The above list only shows one bidder. But now that the fake bids have disappeared, $180 looks much more reasonable. Not that I'd buy it ;)

$2000 for this?

AHAHAHA HA HH A A HAH A HA HA HA A HAH HA HA H

Probably shill bidding, I reported the auction to eBay, you guys should as well. No reason to artificially increase the price of cards because someone wants to make some quick and easy money.

It's already been taken care of. The deck is down to just over $200, all the fake bids were removed.

This $200 price tag is much more reasonable now...if that's the right word. It's amazing to see what lengths some people will go to just to snag a limited "unlimited" deck.

If the price is below $300, it is acceptable.

I'm pretty sure he meant "believable". Only an insane person would buy a perfectly new deck just with one different sticker and a signature for $300. Jerry's and Cage Gardens are understandable, but this is just ...WOW!

even $200 is way too much. maybe $20-50 would be a real price for this.
but it seems that some hardcore serious collectors greeding for this "not-very-special" deck.
well with the right marketing you can sell horse shit as pancakes right? :D  ;)

The highest bid now is $202.50 (who raises $200 by $2.50?) Still insanely high, but the box is also signed.

His actual bid is possibly much higher - eBay will only post a bid one increment higher than the last when you make a "maximum bid" more than an increment higher than the last bid before it.  Apparently at that level, $2.50 is the increment.
