Title: NEW DECK Firehost X Theory11 Hacker Playing Cards
Post by: Siegismyname on September 18, 2013, 03:42:54 AM
Just received my Hacker playing cards yesterday and realized a topic hasn't been created about this deck yet. Basically they are a collaboration between Firehost and Theory 11. You can read more and see more of them here.

I manage to snag a few and am willing to sell or trade some. PM me. Here's what they are going for on eBay.

I'll have to let you know. Being international it's taking a little longer for them to arrive.

In addition, I asked for an extra deck, plus a couple of each of the two previous releases. Fingers crossed, and pics if they do send a whole bunch.  :D

I'm moving this to the STISO board, Sieg, since it's more of an advertisement for your eBay offers.  Please feel free to make a new topic in the PCP without the ads.  Thanks.

Those are actually not my offers Don. If I am not wrong one is jujuforces's and the other is CBJ's. It was meant to be a new topic with a little advertisment. :p

Ronyo_faukx. I am interested to see what the series 1 and 2 look like as well.

My apologies, then - I'll restore it.  Advertisement for other people's eBay sales are not necessary, however.  Please keep that in the STISO.

It's a nice deck, I like the custom courts.

Ooh those jokers (hackers) are pretty cool! The rest of the deck is decent as well. Maybe I'll try for a deck.

These weren't released through or promoted by Theory11 were they?

Nope. But t11 briefly mentioned firehost during a expose episode. The ad card has t11 as well

In essence, this was a commissioned deck that T11 designed for another party - they probably don't even own more than a small quantity of the decks for their personal collections, and maybe not even that.

Finally received the decks I requested from FireHost.

Although they didn't have any of the previous 2 versions (or just didn't want to send me any), they were kind enough to send me the 2 decks I recquested, so now I can open one, and keep one!  :D

Seems that way. Hadn't been able to find what the earlier editions looked like. They look OK, but I like the look of the most recent ones better.

I'd say different version, different company.  It's not impossible that they had other decks before T11 designed one for them.

I'm guessing the T11 deck was series 3 - the deck has a "3" on the front of the tuckbox.

If I had to guess, I'd say that series 2 and 1 are some cheaply made deck from a really small company.  The series 2 deck MAY be USPC, but looking at it, that's not the vibe I get from it.

Just saw this one, thought I would clear it up. We (theory11) are a customer of Firehost. They know what we do best and were inspired by our work to create their own deck. We did not design or produce it for them (though we did give them pointers along the way to ensure that they ended up with a quality product). We are mentioned in the latest edition of the deck on an ad card, which talks about theory11 being one of their customers.

Super cool honor for us to be mentioned, but not a theory11 project. I had people emailing and begging for us to sell these decks to them, which is hard to do when they aren't ours. I've never held one in my life, haha. Awesome, fun looking deck though, so if you see it, grab it up.

Thanks for clearing that up Lyle.

Now we know it's not an actual t11 deck, will people stop pricing these at ridiculous prices?!

I'm going to go with probably not Nurul, there is always that one person who will pay whatever to get something they heard might be super rare and never does any research....or god forbid use common sense.  ;)

Until you see a regular availability on ebay it's always going to have that "Perceived" scarcity attached to it.

To be fair, it is still a rare deck.  It was only distributed at a hacker convention - the only ones for sale online were originally obtained at that convention.  The only distinction made by Lyle is that it's not a Theory11 deck, period.

Firehost was actually sending them out for free to anyone who filled out a form on their website.

OK, so it was there AND the convention.  But I imagine those freebies didn't last long.  It's STILL a rare deck.
