Edible Cards :-\ No :(
Wild Edible Poker Cards (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sergeiboutenko/wild-edible-poker-cards?ref=users)

Poker cards with a survivalist twist for the nature-loving outdoor enthusiast.
3 PURPOSES FROM ONE DECK OF CARDS:
This deck can be used as:
1.) A regular deck of poker cards to play your favorite games
2.) A wild edible guide (used to learn new plants)
3.) A foragers quiz (by reading the plant descriptions on the back of the cards and then trying to guess what plant is on the front of the card you can effectively turn these cards into flashcards)

Different card backs? I'm assuming he's never played poker before.

Great as a nature guide deck. Awful for any gaming or entertaining purposes, unless your idea of entertaining is discussing edible plants...
-
I'm trying to think of a card game you could play which requires 'poker' cards, and it doesn't matter if you can see the backs. :-\
Seems like flash cards which have had pips added to allow the deck to be titled 'playing cards' and shoe-horned into that section of things in the hopes of getting impulse card collectors to want in.

The game you're thinking of? Solitaire.
You're right about the shoe-horning. The creator saw the bucks some deck projects bring in and thought this would fly as a deck. It flies like a pet rock, however...

Your sense of taste, fun, style and sight will probably also thank you.
The only place I can see these being useful is if you have a herb garden or a forest in your backyard. And for those situations, there are things called books.
