Hi there! I want submit my Evil Deck.
You can see all the cards here >> http://www.evildeck.com/cards.php
I will attach some images of the card back and the tuck box.
The Evil Deck is a bit different than regular decks, because it have an illustration on every card (I didn't want use the "classic" structure of the cards on purpose, I wanted to make a deck where every card could be interesting as a court card. Every suit represents a different kind of evil: hearts are for passion, clubs are for nature, diamonds are for violence and spades are for magic.
Hope you like it. Let me know if I submitted it correctly
Cheers

I like what I'm seeing so far.
Now, read the rules CAREFULLY in regards to making your final submission. Because your deck has 100% unique faces, you'll need to submit art for ALL of those faces. I recommend that you combine cards into a single image for the purpose of display - for example, groupings of perhaps four to eight cards each - and provide images of all the cards, plus a few individual cards at full resolution as specified.
This isn't the submission, yet. I ask people to post here first so people can see your design and comment on them - after all, it's the members of this forum who will vote on the designs and choose a winner. It also allows you time to make sure you have everything correct before making your official entry on the topic in the Playing Card Plethora board, which I'm about to go and more clearly mark for people to know where to post.
In other words, make your mistakes here, because you won't get to correct them there.
Did I mention the part about reading the rules carefully? :))
One more thing - GOOD LUCK to you and the other entrants!
-
Hi Don,
I read the rules carefully, and I don't know if I can partecipate: I want launch my own crowdfunding campaign and want run this project on my own (keeping the full rights on it) , so I think I'm not eligible.
I have considered to partecipate the last days, because this is my first project and if I had win the contest, have hundred of decks without risk a penny had would be a big prize. But I'm crazy :)
Anyways, if it's okay for you and this don't break any rule, I may partecipate for the visibility and the glory! If this is okay, I'll make the post in the official thread as you said before
Thank you!

You should contact the Discourse Agent for Expert Playing Card Company for details regarding the rights on the winning deck. In fact, it's not a bad idea to talk to EPCC about making your cards with them, win or lose! Use this link (http://www.playingcardforum.com/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=35179) if you want to send them a PM or contact me for an email address.
-
Hi Don, the funny thing is that I asked them a quote yesterday, and I'm considering to print my deck with them (they gave me a good quote).
If you can give me an email address it would be great (so I can attach them my previous email) Thanks!
-
I contacted EPCC, it seems there are no problems if I partecipate (If I may win they give me some free decks and a good price on the others I was going to order anyways).
I post the official submission here. If everything is be ok, I'll post in the official topic. Let me know!
-
The rest of the submission. Let me know if this is okay!
-
This looks like you've got all your requirements covered!
Go ahead and post to the official topic unless you have any last minute changes in mind. Once you post it there YOU CAN NOT CHANGE IT - don't go back to re-edit it.
I recommend that at the beginning of your first post in that topic, you write a few words to introduce yourself and talk about your design a bit. Remember, you're trying to persuade the membership here to vote for your design.
Best of luck, Giovanni!
-
Ok! Posted! Thank you very much Don for the great advices.
I'm really hyped about producing Evil Deck with EPCC.
-
Your JoC, QoC, and KoC might be to near the cut border. You might want to check with EPCC and ask how close you can get into no man's land...
-
I had check those elements, are at the limit but inside the safe area, but If I have to reduce them a little it's not a big problem. I will verify this with EPCC, thank you for the advice!

Sprouts, don't worry about it. The contest is for a design - the overall concept and art, not the minutiae of what card gets cut where, especially since you're not even seeing an uncut (or cut!) sheet anywhere. Those are adjustments that can be made later, should a design that wins require adjustments.

Hey guys, here is a sneak peek of The Evil Deck prototype! Hope you like it!

Evil Deck campaign on Socials.
Consider a slight alteration.
Put up a link for registration, then put up a link for voting - each should take you straight to the page needed.
-
Yes, you are right. People keeps asking me how to vote :) I'll put registration link first.
Thank you!
Giovanni
-
The campaign continues. I decided to make 6 promises if the Evil Deck wins the DDDC.
I will start posting the first two here, and I will release the other promises during the week.
(this time I put both registration link than link at DDDC in the message)
Hope you like the idea...and hope It will brings some others nice folks in this forum.
Cheers!
-
You had my vote already, but now you REALLY have my vote.
-
Thank you Rose! I really appreciate it!
And there are 4 promises left ;)
-
Promises, promises.
-
Promises get more funnier :)
I have some prototypes of the Evil Deck (with blank tuckbox, the one you see in the youtube unboxing video is a unique piece). I am going to use them as a reward for Kickstarter, but if I win the contest, I will put them on sale, signed. If you want book for one, mail me at hello@evildeck.com.
-
For the second to last promise, I am going to do a special limited edition of the Evil Deck. Signed, numbered, sent from Italy.
I am already working on it (I am thinking about an handwritten certificate and a signed sticker on the deck, and maybe a rubber stamp on the deck - if I will find a way to stamp a black deck) , but If you have suggestions, ideas or wishes of how you want it, let me know!
Of course, if you didn't do it already, vote for the Evil Deck :)!
-
If you haven't voted Evil Deck already, I have a last promise, the big one, to convince you.
I think you guys guess where I am getting at. :)
This is the last call, I hope you had fun with the promises campaign. :D
-
Hi Guys!
Here an update of the tuckbox (the tuckbox is the one I used for the prototype, not the EPCC final one.).
When I saw the prototypes I wasn't happy about the black/grey card back, so I decided to use black and white. I think it's better like this (and will match better with the Good twin).
More updates soon :)
-
Hey, for those of you who haven't yet heard, congratulations are in order! The Evil Deck won the First Discourse Deck Design Contest! Giovanni's already been in touch with Bill, so hopefully we'll be seeing the deck in an expeditious manner!
Best of luck on the next deck, Giovanni!
-
Congratulations Giovanni! I can't wait to buy this deck! :D
-
Hi guys! Some updates
I sent the files to EPCC - They will make an astonishing Evil Deck. Look at the images to have a preview (something may change)
I worked as fast as possible to have Evil Deck produced soon -probably will be here in late september/october-
:)
-
Awesome!!! This is the deck I voted for.
-
Giovanni, it really looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it on sale. Do you have an estimated release date yet?
-
Hi Don,
I will wait EPCC for the official date. Anyways I think it will be ready from mid september to october.
Can't wait too :)
-
Hi guys!
I updated the site www.evildeck.com, and of course I put The Discourse in my Hall of Fame page (the page of thanks).
Oh, and now the newsletter is working, soon I will try to send one!
We also have an indication of release date, October, just in time for Halloween. :)
-
Prototypes shipped today!
I included an hand drawn card (unique) and a certificate with two custom rubber stamps. Everything signed.
Congrats to the people who bought them (I had only 6 and only 5 were available to buy, sold out the first day)
Check the whole gallery with the custom hand drawn cards here https://www.facebook.com/evildeck/posts/325721170920058
Another promise keeped ;)
-
Hi Guys, during the campaign of The Evil Deck I promised a special edition. Here is a preview of two ideas I had. I really like the one with rubber stamp, but let me know what you think.
-
Hi guys! The campaign of the Good (& Evil) Deck is now live on CardLauncher. Both the decks have a special campaign price (8$ + shipping per deck)
https://www.cardlauncher.com/en/projects/8043-Good-Deck
As you may know, Evil Deck is already being printed by EPCC so the money I'll gather with this campaign are going to fund Good Deck only (and maybe some combined stretch goals). You can preorder Evil Decks too, tough, the only limitation is you can't have more Evils than Goods.
-
Hi there!
I had a sneak peek of the Uv Print from EPCC.
This is not the final version (the final one will be white in the embossed and uv parts), but I think it's worth to share.
If you have missed it, Evil Deck is available at CardLauncher, as a support of the Good Deck campaign >> https://www.cardlauncher.com/en/projects/8043-Good-Deck
-
Hi there!

Hi there! A quick update on the production.
Delirium & Evil Decks will leave EPCC Taipei Factory the 31th of march.
The slow ship will take around a month or a bit more to reach NYC and then Michigan fullfilment center. The decks could arrive a bit late (I think May).
I'll keep you updated!
EPCC sent me a pic of the "final" Evil Deck. The only one I have so far. Looking great!
See you soon!
Giovanni

Hi there!
