With a classically simple but elegant diamond pattern back design, card lovers will be reminded of the good old days of card sharps and handlers.

A few more pictures..

And the last picture! There. At least now I can't be accused of teasing these decks to death with blurry pictures and whatnot before their release, right? ;)
-
I have to say, I really like the color choices here. I'm particularly fond of the teal colored courts and the golden color card back. The card back is composed well, while being simple. I'm really glad it's not full bleed. These look nice. Don't hold out on us too long Marcus haha. I must know when and where so I can get my mitts on a couple of those signature editions. :))
-
Hey, Marcus,
Are these going to be released the same way as Run, through all the different resellers? or is it going to be through Murphy's? and approximately when?
-
Don't worry, Fes - I'll keep you guys posted! ;)
Rob - these will be released the same way as the RUN decks as Murphy's only do wholesale and not retail. I'm working on getting a few links to retailers who will have this available, and also a release date.
-
The one thing that I don't like is that Murphy's opted for a standard Bicycle Ace of Spades. There's not a bit of Bicycle branding anywhere else; why use that AoS when a custom version would probably look better? I had the same feeling when I saw Criss Angel's new USPC-made decks - he, too, used the standard Bicycle AoS. I just feel like it's a lost opportunity to really put your mark on this deck.
I hope the jokers aren't standard as well! These are the only places on the faces where a simple custom deck can shine with creativity.
NOTE: I define a "simple custom deck" as being one with a unique back, Ace of Spades and jokers. The remaining faces are standard in design, though perhaps in an altered color scheme. Anything goes regarding the box. This is as opposed to a full-custom deck, where every aspect of each face has at least some greater degree of customization - unique pips, pip placement patterns, indices, artwork, background, border, EVERYTHING.
-
Don, I have a feeling that the price on these will reflect what you pointed out. The lack of custom AoS is less work and easier to get done. I don't see any Embossing on the tucks either. These appear to be a down to earth straight deck of cards. Personally, I appreciate that as much as I appreciate the over the top customization we're all seeing so much more often. Provided of course, price reflect this fact haha. If it's an expensive deck, give me all the bells and whistles, toss in some chowder as well since it's cold outside hahaha.
We'll have to see what happens. Although given the decent price on RUN late last year. I think MM will be releasing these with an acceptable price in mind.

Don - the Joker is pictured above. ;D

Hooooooooraaaaaay!!!! I don't have to be quiet anymore! There's one of my new deck designs! So glad to see the photos. Yippeeeeeeee! :D
-
I'm a FAN of these! (No pun intended).
Any idea what the prices will be like?

Congrats, Lance! Nice to hear from you! Would you like to say anything or perhaps tell the story of how this came to be?
-
Some of you have been asking about the price tag. I believe we're looking at an MSRP around $6.95 for these decks.

That's a very nice price... Looking forward to seeing who's carrying them.
-
We should have both of these decks within a couple of days! :)
-
@paul $6.95 is a great price. What price do you expect to be selling these for?
-
These decks are available at http://collectableplayingcards.com now, I'll try and swing by with some more retailers as I get the links. (And I'm sure Paul will link as soon as he has them up as well. :) )
-
Congrats, Lance! Nice to hear from you! Would you like to say anything or perhaps tell the story of how this came to be?
Don, no real story. It was my first project as a commercial designer with Murphy's. I had great fun working with the team to come up with a classic look that would fit in an every day use type of setting. With all the massively custom decks, we felt this would be a nice departure from the norm. :D
-
Nice idea with signatures.

I'm with Don, welcome back Lance. Glad to see your back playing around with cards. :D
I saw your name come up in the Clear the Deck last month & was hoping you would be getting active again with some new card designs.
Looking forward to seeing this deck and any other contributions in the pipeline, its been awhile since the Actuators.

It's interesting that you mention his appearance in Clear the Decks - the January 2015 issue of Card Culture, due out on Thursday, has a multi-page spread on his Gargoyles design, from concept to completion. Should be a good read! I'm just putting some finishing touches on the magazine tonight.

These are starting to become more available now.
Penguin Magic has both signature (http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S18993) and standard (http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S18992) editions are available.
Vanishing inc, also has both Signature (https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic/playing-cards/at-the-table-playing-cards-signature-edition/) and Standard (https://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic/playing-cards/at-the-table-playing-cards/) editions available as well.
Lots of choices, check your favorite dealers. They're popping up everywhere.
-
Just ordered a couple! JP cards have been dropping lots of parcels with me recently! :D
-
Glad you guys like them! We'll be giving away a deck of the Signature edition during tonight's At The Table with Francis Menotti (as well as in the future) , just a headsup! :)

Thanks Shade!
I'll tell you all this, I never left, I just went deep undercover xD
Seriously though, I've been way more active in the card scene than a lot of people realize. I've consulted with the artists on some of your favorite decks, worked hand in hand with Joey Heninger to bring about the International Cardistry Open, Planned and executed more than 5 deck projects (yet to release), and have built a massive collection of resources that I will be utilizing as I progress in the business. I'm always here, even if I'm not always active on the forums. I love you guys and know that I wouldn't be anywhere without the support of our amazing community. I'm not gonna leave that all behind.

Awesome Tom! Glad you like them! I've been getting a lot of great response on these. I am just so excited everyone is happy with me creating a more streamlined project for once.

There is no free next day delivery here, I'm jealous haha. Hopefully USPS gets that R&D team on teleporters soon! I'm expecting mine middle of next week, I only picked up some LE's so far. I'll be snatching up some of the standards with my Monday order.
-
I was really disappointed in how off-centered the borders were on the decks I received.
-
wow! that's a bit pants!

I've seen worse than this - but I've also seen so, so much better. That's a terrible cut.
Have you contact either your retailer or Murphy's? This really deserves a replacement.
-
Ouch! I hope you weren't getting ready to enjoy some poker when you popped that tuck and found them so off center. Bikes taught me a long time ago to bring two and another deck to the table as backup. I haven't seen anything that dramatic in some time though.
