Trying to find out what I can about the unopened decks I scored off Ebay. I'm guessing around 1930 because the box says Makers to his Majesty King George the V. Any help appreciated ; )

Hey Galveston Guy!
Wow! ... Looks like a great score! ... I guess I have more questions than answers right now - hopefully I can come back with more info!
1. Are you sure the ace and joker match the decks? ... I'm no expert, but the ace doesn't look like a De La Rue.
2. What does the other side of the box look like?
3. Can you tell what the back pattern of the cards looks like?
4. Would you be willing to part with one in a sale or trade ...?
As I said, I'm no expert, but there are many members who are ... I suggest posting more photos of the box and sealed decks so the pros have more info to work with!
Happy collecting!

1. Pretty sure because I messed up the wrapper and stamp trying to open one of the decks ; (
2. See Picture
3. See Picture
4. Yes, for the right offer : )

Hi Galveston Guy!
Thanks for the photos! - I hope you didn't open the deck just to answer my question!! :(
I've done a bit more research and I stand corrected! ... The ace is a Goodall design, but printed by De La Rue - c1930, as you said.
Here's the link (maybe you've seen it)

Your particular back isn't shown, but that's not unusual - there were many!
... Stay tuned for an offer!!
Cheers!

No you didn't cause me to that. I it did all by my own dumb self. I did keep all of the wrapping, so one deck can remain unopened and the other actually shown ; )

You probably don't follow Canadian news, but we are on the brink of a possible postal strike, which would potentially impact any deal we make!
That said, I just want to get a hypothetical conversation going - no pressure and no commitments at this point!
How would you respond if I said $50 for the opened deck or $75 for the sealed one -hypothetically speaking? That's US dollars. I would also cover shipping. I am assuming you don't want to sell both ...? I also get the impression you would rather sell than trade - maybe i'm wrong! If I am, let me know what your interests are ...
... Just throwing it out there ...!

Hi Galveston Guy!
... if you want to keep negotiations confidential, Message me instead of posting!

I will PM you if I can figure out how : )

When the mails fail, UPS, FedEx and DHL will continue to deliver. It might cost a tad more, but it will likely arrive faster.

Thanks Don, but the deal is off. If anyone else is interested in adding one open and one unopened deck of De La Rue Racer playing cards let me know : )

Not to be rude, but there's two things you need to know.
1) This is the wrong board to post sales topics in.
2) The correct topic has a set of prerequisites that must be met before you can create new sales topics there - which you haven't yet met.

My apologies. I originally posted the thread simply seeking information on these cards. Please feel free to delete. Best regards, GG

Sorry Don!
It's my fault, really - I broached the topic!
Galveston Guy meant well!
Mea culpa!
