Who wants to bet the ideograms mean Hong Kong?

Hong Kong looks different in Chinese (it's two characters). I got a friend that can read Chinese to confirm it says "Poker" in Chinese characters.

I love the style and tweaks to the second edition black. Nice to see a seal added to, i'm on the fence about the cut out until I see it for myself really.

I'm ok with the cut out. It actually has a function in this design of the tuck. They went with a black and silver tuck back and the cut out shows the actual true color of the cards, not Black and Silver.

The seal is nice, I like the added asian type on it. It's a little more exotic.

The cutout reveals Lawrence Sullivan's "logo" on the back - and this time around, it's not mirrored!

The seal really resembles a classic tax stamp, though with three Chinese ideograms.  The images below would most closely resemble the sticker used on this deck.

Not Mirrored as in a one way back?

Is that Chinese? You can see why I would be curious about the Shanghai swap. LS is a magician in Hong Kong so it makes sense it would be Chinese and NOT because of the manufacture used.

The original Legends was that subtle one way back design with the crescent shape mark (near the dragon wings) missing from one side of the deck.

It's Chinese on the seal, but I can't remember. I know enough to know it is, but not enough to read it. The seal does look really cool. I like all the extra Chinese characters on it to signify where the deck was made.

That's good to hear. I'm guessing maybe 2500-5000 decks plus some they'll hold in reserve for The Archive for Elite points and future giveaways. I'm really curious as to what the other deck is since there's no tease or anything about it yet. I'm wondering if it's a reprint of the Bee Stingers or maybe titanium version of Robocycle, something that's less important/hype-worthy.

On the contrary - new Stingers would be hype-worthy!  They're one of my favorite decks.  Titanium Robocycles, on the other hand...

I'm guessing since they drop the info that there is two decks going to be released on Black Friday, they'd probably drop teasers and hints this week on it. I still think that the Black JAQK is the big special deck and the other deck they're releasing isn't as big since they spent a good 2-3 weeks teasing about Black JAQK.

I think it will be an unlimited release as opposed to the limited Black JAQKs - but the fact that they're saying NOTHING about it is interesting, especially since they rarely just drop a release with almost no heads-up.

It's definitely unlimited as confirmed Jonathan Bayme on the Theory11 instagram page and then throw in the comment on the Decoy tease, it's an unlimited deck for sure. I'm still curious as to what it is, I still think it'd be a releasing of an older deck or a re-colour of something. I honestly can't imagine it be a completely new designed deck though I'd be happy to be wrong.

I wonder if they're staggering their releases so you've got to buy both days since they've got two decks that are very limited with only 800 decks being sold though they're selling the Legends v 2.0 in a gross that could go pretty fast if someone has a lot of cash on their hand.

Shipping people... Thursday and Friday? Lets get it together CARC.

CARC's shipping prices tend to be constant in that it's not like you save on shipping when you buy more decks so whether you get things in one package or two, there's not that big of a  savings. CARC's two new decks include shipping already in it.

Its not a huge savings but its still a savings for combined shipping.

How can CARC allow someone to buy a gross if they are only selling 800? I would put a 2 brick limit for Black Friday? CARC wants lots of happy customers, not just a few dozen? Correct?

I'm guessing CARC will only have one or two gross for sale. I'm sure they've got some way to divide up that 800 so it sells in the best way possible. 700$ for 144, who cheap, is still a lot of money to spend on a single deck whether it's to sit on for future value or resell.

I haven't noticed there's a huge savings for shipping for shopping at CARC. I'm in Canada and unless I buy in bricks, CARC's shipping tends to go "price of deck" + "shipping per item". So it could look like this:

3 Decks (7$/ deck) - 21$
Cost of shipping (9$/deck) x 3 - 27$
Total: 48$

Where as everyone else tends to go by small incremental increases with every deck you add so that the initial cost of 1 deck is expensive, but with every deck you add the overall average is cheaper. If it's 9$ to ship one deck, CARC just multiples that for every single deck.

Looks like there's a second deck that CARC is releasing this week: Legends V 2.0 - Metallic Black. Besides just the colour change, there's a deck, a cut out window where the diamond shape design is on the back of the card as well as some additional type on the box ("Superior Quality" on the front of the tuck as well as "Diamond Cut" and "Poker Size" on top of the tuck). It's hard to say with just the photo, but it looks like the tuckbox isn't laminated like the original Legends deck. Limited run of 1000 with CARC selling only 800 decks.

It's set to be released on Black Friday, which is fitting for a black coloured deck. I wonder who else is releasing a black coloured deck on Black Friday this year 'cause we've got two already.

Thanks ... now I get to look like an idiot for not reading further down ... :-[ ,but I'm going to claim that the extra text wasn't up yet when I checked it out. I think the red ones will sell out pretty quick even at that price with only 800 decks printed.

It looks like CARC has a price out for the Exquisite deck already: http://shop.conjuringarts.org/store/pc/Exquisite-Playing-Cards-VERY-RARE-Limited-Red-Edition-Exclusive-Deck-and-Pack-Jacket-only-14-95-Pstpd-in-US-144p981.htm#.UpJDENKORv8 .

At almost 15$ with shipping is a bit pricing. I'm curious as to whether the blue Exquisite is less rare and costing less.

So, last night theory11 (T11) had there weekly Saturday Night Contest (SNC). The prize was a SIX PACK of BlackJAQK Playing Cards, shipped out on Monday - a week before the public release!

Although these are considered "super limited" by T11 standards, BLACKJAQKS will be available for normal purchase. NOT a TIER. I looked back at most of the SNC's past prizes, and T11 does not just give away a SIX PACK of a rare deck's used as tiers (white monarchs, Rarebit). Most likely BLACKJAQKS will be as limited as the RED JAQKS were and those took about a week or two to sell out. That's great news for all of us. Most of us who want them will get them.

Aside from casino work, I don't think USPC does anywhere near enough with their other band names.  They're probably concerned about the solid name-brand identity of Bicycle, in the sense that when someone not in this hobby thinks of a pack of cards, they tend to think of Bicycles.  It's the first brand that pops into my head, and it was all we used at my poker table.  Personally, though, it sounds like USPC is taking all their eggs and putting them in to a single basket - named "Bicycle".  They have awesome brand names both current and historical that really need to see the love some more.

Sorry if this is off topic a bit, but I think you've made a great point. It's one I've noticed as I dive more into card collecting. I know it's a lot of work for USPC to develop their brands, but I think with all the brands they have under them, they could divide up what each brand would cater to like retail companies that own multiple brands (low-end, middle-end and high end clothes). That could so easily work with Bee, Bicycle, Tally-Ho, Aristocrat and Hoyle that they have. I honestly would have jumped to get the Bee Serpent deck.

Holy shit... Is there a way to see when this was uploaded?

john, there's a date listed under "file type" as "30/04/12" . Honestly, it's a fairly generic kind of design with either an Oriental or floral flare to it.

This had the look of what could have been a pretty good Bicycle deck. I like the back design that takes off jade circle pendants and the fact that is is a green backed deck sort of win me already. I'm guessing they would have just re-coloured the courts and pips like other Bicycle decks with custom backs, but with the teal green, dark green, black and white would have been a pretty good palette for them to work with.

315
Any words on when the deck will be released and where it'll be released from (ie. website, Kickstarter, etc)?

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Playing Cards Made Not From Paper
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:26:53 PM »
There's also a type of paper made from calcium carbonate, aka limestone. It'd be curious to see what kind of deck of cards that'd make though I'm not sure of the cost of getting a giant roll of that to test out. I know the paper itself can be cold to the touch if left out for awhile and it's got a slick feel to it without any coating on it.

Although I am sure a lot of you may have seen this already but do you feel these picture could help discover what the secret may be? I just received my red Jaqk Cellars today and should be getting the blue deck in the next two days. I love the box on them. I will most likely be purchasing this new deck. Pretty excited for it.

I believe that Theory11 has a few releases on Black Friday that covers at least one new deck, magic and not sure what else. Their weekly Saturday night contest list the prize for this week as "ALL of our new releases on Black Friday" so I'm guessing there's at least two releases on that day, but I'm figuring more. The Oreo should be related to a magic effect and not the mysterious deck of cards.

These look beautiful. Love the back design and the tuck box. I'm waiting to see all of the court cards and ace's before I decide if I'm going to back it though.

With Royal Optik I knew as soon as I saw it, I wanted them. Despite knowing, Royal Optik court cards were more predictable and its pictures were time released throughout the Kickstarter campaign. This Pagan deck is a bit more mysterious in terms of what to expect from the court designs. I might suggest letting us see all the "court cards" from the get go of the Kickstarter campaign. We can quickly make an informed decision, rather then miss out on exclusive rewards waiting to decide.

I was fortunate enough to get a peek at some of the other courts.  Trust me, you won't be disappointed.  The style is the same and the theme is consistent throughout.  In plainer terms, they're really nice!

Don, is there anyway you can answer (if you know) if the two decks are going to be sold match-set like Paul's Decos or is one unlimited and one limited?

The tuck is gorgeous. I hope they're able to replicate that look and feel.

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Re: Squeezers

Hey Sparkz

Bicycle's site actually has an article about it: http://www.bicyclecards.com/news/story/the-story-behind-bulldog-squeezers . It's an interesting read, but long story short, before 1860s, there was no pips or numbers on the side of the cards so you had to spread out the cards in your hand to see it. They introduced the side pips and numbers so you could "squeeze" the cards in your hand slightly and be able to see what you have.

321
The blurry deck in the background does look like a JAQK deck.  But what about the numbers...?

92181 is a ZIP code in the San Diego area in southern California, not too far from the Mexico border - JAQK is in the other half of the state, in the north above San Francisco.  The deck may simply be symbolic of playing cards in general, or T11 playing cards in particular - that one was a very successful deck for them.  Then again, that number could mean something completely different.

29 likely refers to the date - Black Friday is November 29th this year.

I also considered the zip code theory. Before posting I did check the JAQK Cellars zip and realized they were not the same. As you say that's if the number is an actual zip code. The previous teaser uses a different 5 digit number?

Adding to 21 means = "BLACK JAQK"

I feel like an idiot for forgetting that 21 is "black jack". I guess that would be further proof of a Black JAQK deck. I guess we'll all find out for sure in 2 weeks.

If it is a Black JAQK deck, I'm curious to see what they'd do for the inks as the deck heavily features metallic inks. Maybe they'll do something with the black ink similar to the Silver Split Spades with gold over the black.

Theory11 mentioned in their weekly Expose today something along the line that the "sums of the part" for the numbers on the teaser image. All the teaser image have their 5 sets of number add up to 21. I'm not sure what that does. Is this the 21st Theory11 designed/produced deck?

[NEW] Something Dark Coming Soon (JAQK Cellars) by theory11

I've got mix feelings on this. I love the JAQK Cellars deck, but I sort of wish their big Black Friday new deck was something totally completely new. I know it's not confirmed yet though the blur images does very much look like the JAQK Cellar tuck box.

If I've already pledged for a Limited Edition deck, do I just add 12 dollars to my pledge and add the Hound deck on with the Backerkit after the project ends? I really don't want to miss out on this deck.

Yep, just add in 12$ to your pledge and don't change your tier level. I believe Jackson is using Pledgemanager, something similar to Backerkit, post campaign, but you'll be able to add more decks then if you change your mind later.

I can't wait to see the tuckbox for the Hounds deck once it's printed. If it's anything like the Federal 52 LE or Black Bicycle Reserve note, it'll look amazing.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Purple LTD - with bonus rare deck, White LTD!
« on: November 12, 2013, 10:08:31 PM »
I'm guessing they'll have this link: http://www.ellusionist.com/white-ltd-limited-playing-cards.html on their playing card page tomorrow when it goes live for everyone, but when I find interesting is that court cards for the limited White LTD has the Madison court faces instead of standard re-coloured courts.

You can actually add it to your cart (at least BC members can), but the list price is $1,000...

And what the hell's the story about using the Madison courts?!

My thoughts exactly on the Madison courts, but at least it does make it very different from the other LTD besides being limited. I thought it was a goof up in their photos, but I think the font confirms it since it's LTD's font over standard font like they used for the other Madison decks.

So I guess, there you go vmagic, you can add it to your cart for 1000$ if you're interested in just buying it straight out over buying a brick or DVD. I guess Ellusionist listened to demands and offered a buyout option for those that didn't want all those extra bricks or DVD or books.
