Design & Development / Re: 10 Tips For the Aspiring Kickstarter
« on: December 04, 2011, 07:02:32 PM »
Okay, this may be a dumb question. Prepare yourself. :P
In the tralier, a deck of the cards was being handled (obviously), but wasn't that released way before all the decks were printed? What I'm trying to ask, is how you got the prototype deck printed, how much it cost, and how many you got. Thanks.

Also, is anyone else wondering what the backs will look like?

Totally! I hope it's some kind of crazy art on the back. And I imagine it'll be quite a complicated, intricate design. I'm not sure why, that's just how I picture it. :P
I'm looking forward to some pictures, for sure.

^I agree.
Although the backs look a little interesting, they don't look like they're anything to write home about.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just checking, in case.
Thanks anyway!

This deck looks great. Anyone know of any sites except D&D selling it? Their shipping price to the UK is just a bit too much for me.

482
Will you be selling any of these things individually? It's just that quite a few of these look rather attractive, but I wouldn't be prepared to spend $250 on all of them.

483
Yeah it would!! I like how each individual card is so unique. The art is so simple to, its very nice looking!
It is! The simplicity certainly gives it a special charm. In a way, it reminds me of the old Harlequin Playing Cards. Coincidence that this is the new AetherCards deck name? I doubt it.  ;)

I'm waiting until they're on some UK sites. Shipping from D&D is crazy. Let's wait and see if cards4magic.co.uk get any in stock!

Thanks for posting that link! I've been paying through the nose on shipping for ages!!!

That's all right! I buy a lot of my decks through here. Although, they don't always get in all the new decks. But fingers crossed!

Can't wait for the decks and prices to be up!  ;D

Haha he designed them extra large like that. They are a life size paper cutting project. It would be pretty hard for him to cut out all the details if it were small. He'll be scaling down the size for the actual decks (if he does indeed do a kickstarter). I've been following this on tumblr and he hasn't put a great deal of emphasis on it being a lot more than a project so we'll see what happens. I'd like to have a deck because it's been fun watching the deck become what it is.
Oh, good. I was pretty confused. xD Thanks for clearing that up.
I really hope that he does do a Kickstarter deck. I think they'd look great as a Poker Size deck.

I'm trying to reach 3,000 posts to get 3 signed decks!  ;D

488
I just pledged my $26 for a set of both editions! :D

489
I agree! These look amazing. I absolutely love the clever customised faces on each and every card. I'll definitely be looking to pledge on this.
Although, anyone else surprised by the fact that the YouTube video's description says they're 2 feet tall?

Looking forward to some more info on this! Although, judging from Alex's last post, it may be a while. :P

Series 1 = Cool
Series 2&3 = Annoying
Series 4 = Terrible

Exactly. I was looking to buy a Series 1 deck (I never did in the end), and I was pretty excited about the next ones coming out. But as soon as I saw them, I was kinda disappointed.

BMpokerworld said that the tentative release date for the Robocycle was December 1st...... I guess that didn't happen
I saw that too. I was getting all excited for the release. But I couldn't find anything about it being released on December 1st. So, I guess it'll be a later date.

493
Good for you! :D
If I had the money, I would most definitely buy a brick; Lance's designs are astounding and I'd love to help him with funding. But unfortunately, I don't have much money to spare at the moment. I was even originally debating whether or not to buy both decks!

494
Sorry, I can only find Aladdins smooth finish. Although, if anywhere, I'd probably recommend eBay to try and get some air cushion ones.

Alright. if you have a smartphone, could you please scan the QR code, and tell me where it takes you?

I tried, but the only picture that's got high enough quality, and the right angle, is the Queen of Spades. That QR code reads "La Jalousie est un sentiment qui derape", which means "Jealousy is a feeling that goes wrong" in French.
It looks like the other court cards all have a different QR code, so it'd be great to see some better quality photos so I could scan those codes.

I'm really looking forward to the Robocycle deck. The Steampunk not so much, seeing as, as it's been mentioned earlier, it just seems like a rip off of Lance T. Miller's Actuators. But I'll probably end up getting it anyway; it may be a rip off, but it doesn't look too bad.

Yeah, the decks look cool, but it's expensive. So I get only one each.

I agree; just one of each for me too. I'm hoping to pick up the coloured edition sometime soon aswell; I'll have the full set!

Yeah, but the price is ridiculous. I don't know, I might end up buying some at some point. But I doubt it.
Looks like the two of us are gonna have to become ebay shoppers.  But I agree, I dont really wanna spend a butt load on them.
Exactly; although these are obviously collector's decks, and I'm a collector, I just don't really have money to throw around at the moment.
