A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Re: rewrap playing cards

How noticeable is the difference between original cello, and the resealer?
Alex said it is as good as factory one, sometimes even better. He will post a video tutorial of how to rewrap a deck with the resealer.

Actually I use ziplock bags to protect my decks if I think they are collectibles, especially those with torn cellophane (or without cellophane). A resealed vintage deck is very strange to me and I can not touch and feel it when I want.

If I have a Wynn deck that has a little tear on the cellophane, I won't process it. I am not sure if the Wynn decks are collectibles because they are always available on eBay or from other collectors. (well, I have more than 60 decks in total. Hope this may help anep21 understand Wynn is not that rare and valuable)

If I get a vintage deck w/ a little tear on the cello : protect it with a ziplock bag or open it (if I have more than one).

Playing Card Plethora / Re: How Long Have YOU Been Collecting?
« on: February 15, 2012, 05:31:16 PM »
Bonus Question! - What was the deck that started off your collection (your first deck)??
I used Bicycle 808s and Tally Ho for a period of time. Transducer Aqua was the most expensive deck I bought when it was released, I think it's the deck that started off my collection.

oh, and what is it exactly that you guys dont like about the back?
There is another thread on this forum: "Favorite Deck?"
Have you tried to understand those decks?

Now we know the meaning of Ultra Ape for you, but it doesn't mean it is also meaningful for others. Frankly speaking, I am afraid kids and gals will be scared by the fierce-looking apes if I use this deck. No offense : shouldn't you design a pattern that players/magicians/cardists like?

Ok so its 20$ on kickstarter for TWO decks, thats 10$ a deck. Also it includes domestic shipping, thats pretty cheap.
Do you hear the sound of objection from international buyers ??? ???
Or you need only US buyers to back your project? :P
International buyers can still get a deck, however they need to add 5$.
$5 is fair enough for international buyers, but I don't like the back design either.

Now I hope the condition of her deck is in good shape as she described, or it's me who will cry.
Just received the deck, don't need to cry 8)

No brainer for me, Richard Turner.
Richard Turner is an expert at the card table, but he is never a "magician" ;)

lol it was maybe my 3rd time, but they are pretty smooth, from what I can tell. The chinese really do a bang up job.
ReaganM, do you know there is a small problem : currently you are not really good at handling playing cards, people have to suspect your description of a deck. That's why you need to take pics or videos to let people judge by themselves.

Not too bad  ;)
They don't look like they're as good as a non plastic coated deck but for a plastic coated deck, they are very good.
They are as good as non plastic coated deck if this is ReaganM's first time spreading cards on the table :P

A resealer is good, but you should open and use the Wynn deck instead of rewrapping it :P :P

@VortexHead, I missed your posts. The box is really special and cute. I like the rabbits much :)

@sxjy0109, NYCCC produced the deck, it should have been cancelled by NYCCC.
That's why I said it should be the stamp dated between 1917-1919 instead of pre-1900.  ;D

I don't get it. NYCCC 1871-1930, why does a stamp cancelled by NYCCC mean 1917-1919?

http://www.cypressfilms.com/Bicycle/USPC_Dates/USPC_Dating_Codes.html
The tax was 7 cents in 1917-1919, I don't see "7" or "17" on jmrock's stamp.
The 2nd line of the overprint might denote the date accurately, but I can not read it clearly.

If it was not mispriced, I am afraid that it is a business trick. The item won't be in stock.

I've opened and used 2 of these decks, they were made with the same stock as standard Bicycles in 2009-2010, soft and not interesting ::)

@brown_bagg and @Nathan, I might be the only one that loves them because I don't buy their decks. haha :P
Even thought I wanted to buy the Dragon Of The Year deck last month, I didn't because its name was changed to ChinaTown. Why should I like ChinaTown? ChinaTown is nothing to do with me. However, I like to watch people talk about their decks. Isn't it very interesting to see people crazy for the decks you don't want ;)

"everyone loves money" was sarcasm. But business is business, they are right in fact. The market is like a pie, the more producers there are, the more the pie is sliced up into thinner and thinner pieces. Of course they want to take a big bite of the market.

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: How to table faro?
« on: February 13, 2012, 02:27:57 PM »
And, how is the table faro practical when doing street magic?
Nathan, how fast can a fish swim in the air? (when doing street magic, in the hands faro is enough)

Well, let's stop discussing the difficulty or practicability, it wastes my time (and yours). Here I found a friend of mine performing the "Oil and Water" trick with anti-faro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCcH0hEq6vk

Actually it was not a good magic because even laymen know it's a sleight, but at least he tried to integrate the skill into his routine. (He is a Christian and most of his magic videos are story-telling style)

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Massa playing cards help

no worries, heres a link to some http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Massa-Premium-Linen-Black-Gold-Casino-Playing-Cards-/350281071812?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item518e60fcc4
I often bought decks from fullboatdealer last year. I remember it was very interesting when I ordered 20+ decks, the seller suggested that I use a Medium Flat Rate Box and buy his Massa decks to ship together (a medium box may contain at most 3x3x9=81 decks). Not until he told me the price did I know the Massa decks were terribly cheap (I believe people know they can always deal with him directly for a lower price). They might be used to protect my decks in the box, I didn't need bubble paper :P

No, I didn't buy those Massa decks. They are not my taste. I bought more Watermelons and gold-frame Tallys instead.

« on: February 12, 2012, 11:58:57 PM »
Oh. Thats good to know! I think the anti-faro is very useful: you can do a perfect faro and than an anti-faro and keep the deck exactly in the same order!
How can you apply it in your magic routines? That's why I said it's more of a show-off. Tell you a secret, even Christian Engblom said it is not practical.

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Re: How to table faro?

@hazofhorsham, I am not joking. If you only want to perform the "Table Faro" as shown in Nathan's link, you don't need any tutorial and practice. However, if you want to learn "Table Riffle Faro", then go to find a copy of ECT, watch the performance videos on YouTube 300 times and spend more than 2 weeks to practice this one of the most difficult card sleights, you will have a extremely powerful weapon in magic.
Actually, I think the most difficult sleight ever is the anti-faro. Do you agree?
I can do anti-faro and table riffle faro. I think the latter is more difficult but practical. (I believe you know anti-faro is not practical at all in magic, but it is a good show-off when you do it in front of other magicians/cardists)
