EDIT: I posted in wrong thread :o

@sxjy0109, so you might be interested in Seediq Bale too. It was another part of history in that era and you might have to do little research before watching it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edWKz9N6oO0

I collected several series of Choro-Q and they have really wonderful market prices now. I also have many TOMICA, TOMYTEC, and EBBRO cars. I don't know how many mini cars I own, but fortunately I quite this pricey hobby early :-[

I have many mini toy cars, maybe more than playing cards...
I can only say the cars in the link are creative but not attractive to me ???
Lol I'm yet to see more of your car collection. So far think I've seen about 4 disney-related transforming cars.  :D
The transformers are not 'collection' in my definition, they are toys and... not rare at all :o

I spent time, money and efforts to collect many series of mini cars (and quit the crazy hobby about 3 years ago). As always, there is a story behind every single car. I don't think people here are interested in these Japanese cars, so I won't take pics of them. Most of them were produced by Takara Tomy several year ago and, of course, limited.

sxjy0109 you must know there was a piece of Taiwan history about Japan, but you probably don't understand why Taiwanese don't hate Japan (especially old Taiwanese, they hate KMT more). I say this because I found so many Taiwan people were moved by the 2008 movie "Cape No. 7", while China people were completely indifferent to it.

Back to the topic, the mini cars I collect were produced several years ago, but they are all "vintage-look" cars and I had to spend much time doing research on their historical background. They remind me of the era that people worked hard for a hopeful future. For example, these are few of them I just found on eBay (as I said earlier, they are limited, most of them can not be found on eBay):
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=choro+q+t360
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=choro+q+k360
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=choro+q+midget

I used Google to find more:
http://www.pockyland.net/redirect.php?tid=1436
http://goods.itempost.jp/detail/2/PA01071897/23790833

but they are... still a small part of my collection.

Wow.. I found this pic, it is a real car (in Taiwan Story Land, Taipei)

@Don, I know you would not mind and I am not afraid of telling the truth. However I said "I hope you won't mind..." to sxjy0109, he knew what I meant. There have been some political issues between China and Taiwan for  more than 60 years but we believe they will be solved eventually.

@sxjy0109, haha, they are just a group consist of students who like magic and playing cards. It is not a company, even not an organized "team". Some of them are not in Taiwan now, for example, this guy (actually they are a pair of brothers) is in Canada if I am not mistaken:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bLv1cpV_ng

@sxjy0109, it is a close group consist of young students and somewhat secret... They didn't have good advertisement methods and I ever argued with the members on Taiwan forums right before the Moth/Myth decks were released... :-[

@sxjy0109, I don't want to get into political issues either but I hope you won't mind if I correct Don that Moth/Myth and Watcher were made in Taiwan instead of China. ;)

@Don, Take it easy. If I were the UPSC, I would just smile and appreciate they advertise my products to those young students or gals. Actually USPC has a famous official distributor here, we will know if they are unhappy.

The distributor could even represent USPC to express the gratitude to kete:

EDIT: @Kanped, you would not see the candy boxes in China because they were sold out in Taiwan in a short period of time ???

I incite him to open his decks so many times but still in vain >:(

@jmrock, that's the difference between you and vmagic and now you should understand why Pokerstud52 wants to sponsor him instead of you or others, hahaha :P

@sxjy0109, all your decks are very cool :-[ :-[

615
@Don, they are really not rare at all here in Taiwan. It's interesting, all playing card companies have their official dealers here, every time a new deck releases, few days later we can get it with almost the same price but the shipping fee makes a big difference. The most interesting part is "there are not so many collectors in Taiwan", hence supply is always more than demand. When a deck is OOP and the price increases with time on eBay or other areas in the world, it is still on sale for the original price here. There are too many examples, especially those custom decks such as S&M. Finally they would be sold out, but it takes much longer time than that in other areas.

As for the standard Bikes, there are 6 Costco's here and standard Bikes are really cheap decks. Even lazy people like me can get Bikes from online stores or auctions with the same average price. (In fact, the Ohio made 2006-2008 Bikes are still available here, but they are slightly more expensive of course, about $2 USD)

i did a quick search on google but couldn't find any links, can anyone provide some links please?  :)

I'm not sure how you could miss it. Type in Jacks & Jokers and it should be the first link, it's harder to miss than to find it.  :o

But nonetheless, here it is.

Should I reasonably doubt that jmrock was in one of the advertising photos? :o

A Cellar of Fine Vintages / Re: A new way to date sealed Bicycle cards?
« on: February 05, 2012, 11:12:41 AM »
Thanks Digi... That would explain why some of my Tax Stamp decks have cellophane, and some do not... I always wondered if cellophane was removed from some of my Tax Stamp decks, but never gave much thought to it... Your explanation is simple and helps me discern another ten of the twenty-five year stamp... Thank you...
We all know the wax paper was used to wrap the cards until USPC began using cellophane to protect the whole deck. However, it is a simple logic: you can not say a stamp sealed deck w/o cellophane is from 1940-1955 unless you open it and verify the wax paper is inside the box. In contrast, it is always true to say a stamp sealed deck w/ cellophane is from 1955-1965.

So I know the Tiger #101 is the first brand by Russell & Morgan Co., but this No. 0. What does it mean? How does it differ from the No.999?

I don't think it's actually more recent than jmrock's Steamboat No.999! A. Dougherty manufactured cards between 1848-1930. Your deck could very well be before his 1883!
All manufacturers had their own Steamboat brands, Steamboat 0, Steamboat 7-11, Steamboat 999, etc.
Steamboat No. 0 was first introduced by A. Dougherty in 1985, the same year as they produced Tally Ho. But this deck might not be produced in the very first year, it looks more like 1900.

And the Hochman Encyclopedia of American Playing Cards is always the best reference:

This is my oldest deck, A. Dougherty's Steamboat No. 0, but it is so lowly if compared with jmrock's Steamboat 999 :(
It seems to have been wrapped with paper instead of being sealed by a tax stamp.

Do you have any idea what years did they use wax paper? From the beginning of production until 1955?
I don't know but... at lease we already saw the wax paper on jmrock's 1920 Bees.

I didn't post the Bicycle Gold Edge Racer Backs yet... When would I date those?
1981 ;)
How did you know the exact year?  :-\
"Salvation lies within" quoted from the 1995 movie The Shawshank Redemption.
