http://www.virtuescience.com/virtuelist.html#.UZ87CZXNz8s

Here are 49 virtues.  If you take the  :) vise versa :t11: of the virtue you have a possible deck of  98 cards.  You would probably want to pick the best ones to fit your 54 card deck of angles and demons.   I'm sorta on the same path.  This is some of my early research...

what the actual fuck does that mean?

And here is the revised draft with a bit of color. I'm liking it. The fire and pitchforks for demonic, and the big sword and halo for angelic.actually the color is really the only thing thats "revised" and it was added, not revised...

I feel if you go towards the 7 deadly sins you will lose a lot of your potential christian market. keep it more cheery and you have families who would buy a deck to support you. 7 deadly would not get you that. Would you want your child playing with a deck that talks about the 7 deadly sins?

Why not?  It's in the Bible, isn't it?  How can you avoid the 7 deadly sins if you don't even know what they are?

I don't know that I want my child playing with an angels and demons deck.  But to Don's point, it would be easier to separate out the good and bad forces (duality).  it just seems that this deck concept started as a 'Heroes of the Bible' and has now gone to 'Angels and Demons'.  If your target is a Christian market, would a deck about battling mythical creatures (and yes I said it) be more popular than fundamental biblical characters?  I think if I show up to sunday school with an Angels and Demons deck I might get the boot.  (FYI - I believe in Angels and Demons, just without the wings and so literally battling for the human race).

But as we haven't seen anything of this deck otherwise, all i can go on is the card back which I do like.  I think it's very artistic and appealing.  IMO.

If you showed up to Sunday School with an Angels and Demons deck - and the Angels were WINNING - that might be a different story... :))

As was pointed out, he's planning a series of decks and talking about them pretty much all at once, so I can understand if it seems a little confusing as he shifts from one deck idea to the next.  My advice, xx789m, would be to stick for now to a SINGLE IDEA and see that to fruition before chasing down all the other ideas, because a) we have yet to see you deliver anything, and b) it makes you sound like a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none, when you should simply sound like a master.  Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk.  (And choose a board name that sounds more like a person and less like a pornographic droid...)  :))

pornographic droid. Good one.......I'll have to remember that :)) XD

If you remember, I didn't say a deck of cards. I said a LINE OF DECKS, meaning there will be more. Fundemental biblical characters will most likely be the second one.

Ah, well there you go.  My bad for misinterpreting.  Good luck on this deck, I look forward to seeing some of the artwork.
Thanks. I hope you guys will like it.

This is the first draft. It's far from complete but this is just a base.................I got to do something about those pitchforks  >:(

What, exactly must be done about them?  I think they're fine.  Perhaps toss in a little more "demonic" elements to balance the design a bit - it's heavy on the heavenly, light on the wicked.

Not sure I agree.  It seems like a purgatory deck.  I thought this was supposed to be about heroes of the bible.
This is a deck based on angels vs. demons or heaven vs. hell.................sort of like the archangel deck, but I feel like the theme of that deck was lost in the intricate design.

I then mentioned our opinions of the deck............this was his reply "The whole point of creating a deck with Harsh, Blinding Intense Colors is to capture the ridicule of fellows such as yourself. You fail to see the point here. The point is that by provoking your ridicule I have captured your attention. The Cards are as I purposely intended them to be. They were not designed to appeal to everyone. I like bold color. Other test came out dull in the transfer from digital to print. I Prefer the Brighter Cards over the dull ones. I can appreciate that not everyone likes such intensity and you have not offended me with your honesty. Thanks for the feedback, Ron."

he has a point...............

I sent him a message............here's the reply: "I am just relaying the term used by my print facility when they call it Linen. I ordered a prototype deck and it has a bit of a textured surface. The cards slide well over one another but cling enough so that they don't slide like plastic ones do. They have just the right flexibility and stiffness to handle well. I am not a professional magician or dealer but the card stock is adequate and comparable to other decks that i own. I have purchased a variety of cards and they qualify as a decent basic deck. I would not call them exceptional or superior in stock quality but average in weight, feel. and durability. I am using Printer Studio to produce the actual cards. I found them online. They were easy to communicate with and had a sophisticated means of uploading and dealing with the digital artwork that I found user friendly. What you see in the video is just a run through of a folder containing a variety of cards. I spotted that flaw earlier myself as well but just kind of threw the video together and forgot to remove it from the list. That card has already been corrected. There are many versions of every card. It is the basis for a whole spectrum of different styles."

I am embarrassed, and a little scared, to admit it, but I'm actually thinking of getting one for a gag gift.

ManMadeGames, you planted the seed! If I get a deck of these in the mail and my mailbox catches on fire as a result, it's on you!! ;-)

No, just can't make myself do it. I re-read the "Risks and challenges", and love the following tidbits (my emphasis):

My print facility offers Drop Shipping service. So I do not foresee any obstacles to smooth printing and delivery of this item. I placed an order with them for a Prototype deck and I was well pleased with the result. They are accustomed to large orders involving hundreds and even thousands of decks. I am relying upon the print facility to both print and distribute the decks. For this reason I limited the number of decks to a number small enough for them to accommodate without encountering any problems. I am confident they are up to the task.

Just...wow.

so no USPCC..........................If the design is that bad the LEAST he can do wouldbe to make the cards a decent quality

So I asked this guy a question on kickstarter and called him out on "linen stock" and the whole "ace/7 of spades thingy"

Don needs to be a professional spelling/grammar checker for KS campaigns. I have been cringing lately and the incredible amount of blatant spelling and grammar errors in KS campaign descriptions, not to mention creator e-mails. If you can't type a grammatically correct, or even remotely close, description for your campaign, I'm seeing red flags before I even pledge. I'm definitely not perfect in this regard, but I will always strive to be. KS allows individuals to submit their idea and business plan (campaign) to potential buyers (investors). If it's all thrown together and sounds like a 4 year old wrote it, people will stay far away.

Grammar and spelling aside, creators should know exactly what they will be using simply based on conversations with their printer in the pre-campaign planning stages. All creators have a valid, extensively thought out plan in place before they start, correct? ;-)
I wish making a better deck was part of this guy's plan!

Nowadays there is no linen stock. That is an option on stock USPCC use to offer. Or was that the name of the finish. Don will correct me when he gets he. He is better then spell check.

"Spellchecking" is NOT enough.  For instance, your sentence SHOULD HAVE READ:

Nowadays, there is no linen stock. That is an option on stock USPCC used to offer. Or was that the name of the finish? Don will correct me when he gets here. He is better than spell check.  :))

Linen was a popular card finish, created by using cloth rollers made of linen to apply the coating.  These days, they only use steel.  When you see "Linen Finish", it's being used as a trade name, much like "Linoid", "Cambric", "Ivory", "Air Cushion", etc.

Linen stock is indeed used in high-grade paper and stationery, so named because it is made at least in part of actual linen fibers (stronger than wood fibers).
well thats what this guy is using!

From the creator's bio:
**************************************************
I am pleased to announce that I am finally launching a new deck of Poker Sized Playing Cards. My hope is that you will enjoy this deck. I invested some time and effort to create what I feel is a Quality Design and I hope that you agree. If this Project is well received and reaches its goal , I would enjoy creating more decks in the future. I will use the proceeds to upgrade necessary computer gear and software with which to produce more designs. I Love the Graphic Arts. Please join with me and back this project. Thanks in Advance for your support. Ron
Also a friend of mine and I have been collaborating and in the future he will offer his own design. Please help us to raise necessary funds to expand our operation. Thanks. I have prepared several versions of this deck and I think you will be well pleased with some of my future offerings also.
***************************************************
Looks like it will potentially be a limited edition collector's set! Get on board now! Almost 20% funded!! Well, $85, but still almost 20%.

That may be Pesos.

does that mean his friend is going to put out another torture device?!?!?!

Alex, that's a very good point...maybe a plain white tuck with a "DANGER!!! STAY AWAY!!" skull and crossbones on it? Maybe a locking Porper clip? The color might burn through the shipping package and melt my mailbox as well.

Well, you'll never lose any cards...they will definitely pop out against any other background!

I wouldn't mind losing some of these cards!

All these cards will be, something the kickstarter page calls "Printed on Linen Stock"

What in the world is linen stock and why does it remind me of notecards?

these look like he jerked a crayola off and let it jizz in a pice of paper!

I look at the quote in your signature and wonder if it applies to him...  :))

XD judt remember, he isn't the one who started off this thread with a prayer to "patron dieties of playing cards"

I was referring to this:

Exodus 14:14 The Lord, your god, will fight for you; you need only to be still

And while I don't attend the Church of the Jack of Clubs, you do attend a Christian church...so, will the Lord, your god, fight for him?

(And please, don't freak out and start a religious flame war, it's just an observation on your somewhat over-the-top comment because it sounds a little less like "do unto others" than most things you've mentioned...  :)) )
I knew what you meant, and while my God might fight for him, I'll bet he doesn't like these cards either! These things are awful! I wouldn't blame them if ALL 4 KINGS TURNED SUICIDAL!

On a side note, Chruch of the Jack of Clubs..............Is that a real thing??

I should have the decks individually numbered, then find the biggest christian that backs it and send him number 666 just as a joke.

On one level I'm stunned that any print-on-demand deck is being priced at $15.  But then I realized that I'm even more stunned that this deck even exists.

I *do* think it's interesting that when you search for "playing cards" on either Kickstarter or Kicktraq, neither search shows you this project.
[/quote]

I wouldn't call these playing cards. It looks like the background on one of those japanese cartoons, anime I believe is the technical term.
heres the back and joker can someone explain them to me?? the joker is...................idk i can't tell if thats a lion, the wolfman, or my ex! And am I the only 1 that thinks they look like a 2 year old did these in crayon?????
Do u think we can sue him over some enviormental issue??? this is a waste of trees to print these!
