The Conversation Parlor / Re: Wooden Deck Stands
« on: May 31, 2015, 05:33:11 PM »
well, i came back to say that i am sorry i let it bother me, though i did/do feel like you are missing what im saying about there being no similarity to the Uusi stands, other than being made of wood. well, and the fact that they display cards. im going through a lot, and i honestly feel like im getting worse, so im not really myself at the moment, and im sorry for being quick to become offended. i am very much a person who does not tolerate condecending or accusational remarks, as i pride myself on being honest and respectable, and also loyal to friends, and those who i find to be good people. i had to drop out of school right before heading off for my scholarship, and i have spent my life continuing my education and my search for knowledge, so that my strong mind does not falter. common sense has always been on my side, thankfully. so given my current circumstances- the pain, seemingly getting worse, passing out every 30 minutes, etc.- i suppose i was just in a bad place at that moment. i try my absolute hardest to never take my suffering out on anyone, ever, online, or otherwise. so, this was not really me, as i usually am, to let something like this bother me. i was feeling frustrated, too, that i was saying they are not the same, because i had only sent the stand to show him what a stand does, with instructions to do his own thing. also because i couldnt just take a picture and show you this, and be done with it. but i see your point, that there may be some who need to hear that you couldnt directly rip a piece, and that is true. i have had people try the same with my music, my art, and my dancing, and it is beyond upsetting when this is your livelyhood, and people dont have any respect for that. anyway, if you don't mind, could you just delete this thread? i feel like it now serves no purpose other than for you and i to have this talk, and im pretty sure we understand each other now. ;) (i didnt look to delete it yet as i wanted to give you time to see this reply) thanks for understanding... feeling like you could be dying can put you off your normal, rational attitude...
thanks Don,

Magna

"simply put"??
so, to be clear, after reading all that, you still didnt get that im not out to screw anyone? i've been an artist and musician/composer for almost my entire life, and yes, that's only 36 years, but well enough to know the ins and outs of how to, and not to f**k people over. i said, again, i sent him the thing just so he could see what i wanted it to do, i.e., "be a deck stand", nothing more "the same" to Uusi than it being made from wood, which im pretty sure has been done before. anyway, im not big on being made to feel like you think im simple, when ive had all the respect for you in the world, Don. sorry i dont use caps or punctuation at all times, my stupid hands hurt, to go along with just about every single other part of me, so i dont bother. i figure my sense shows through regardless, but maybe not... so, again, as well, i dont give a damn about the stands now, at all. truly. my biggest mistake was being detailed about what i sent him, because had i not mentioned Uusi to start, this would have all been fine, im pretty sure. or, if i fucking had the ability to drive my cripple ass to a store and get a new camera so you could see them, either way. no need to reply, i wont be continuing the thread.

considering i only sent the Uusi stand (and a few decks of cards) to give him the idea of what the purpose was, as he has had no experience in this type of thing, it isnt really a concern.  for me, i can't see how the simple concept of using wood to hold up a deck of cards could be patented, but honestly, if i felt i was doing something hurtful to Uusi, i would have not done it period. they are great people, i wouldnt even consider betraying them, least of all for money. the only reason i was thinking of this was so others could have easy access to good-looking, quality stands, and i intended to make no money from it myself unless someone cared for abstract designs on the stands, or for me to redesign them in some fashion. personally, i have no need for any more of them, and my uncle is quite busy ^_^ it was just a thought, for anyone's convenience who is, like i was before finding this supply, without a way to aquire anything aesthetically pleasing to display thier decks. i do appreciate that you worry about me though =] but it's cool ;) even if you were just concerned for Uusi, that is also great, Don- the looking out for each other is something i always loved about those of us collectors who care about what goes on, to the kind and honorable people around us ^_^ if it makes you feel better, please delete the thread, it's not so important to me that i want anyone upset or worried =]
hopefully ill be seeing you in other threads, my health permitting!!

Magna

p.s.- rereading my post, im wondering if the word "duplicate" was what bothered you... i only meant they were duplicates of one another, and looked nice as a set. i f*'n wish my new phone was here, i would have just posted pics =/ oh well, -maybe- we can revisit this again in the future ^_^ i have a lot going on right now, overseeing album production, art projects... it really was never a big deal ;) hope you are well Don!

The Conversation Parlor / Wooden Deck Stands
« on: May 25, 2015, 02:29:20 AM »
hey guys! i feel like its been an eternity since ive been here, and im glad to be back ^_^ i have been really unwell, and quite busy for a really long time =/ anywacks...
a few months ago, remembering my uncle is a carpenter, and fairly talented at most anything involving wood, i decided to send him my UUSI redwood deck stand, to look over, and see what he could do that would be as, or almost as effective for what it is. maybe a week later, he sent me a bag of duplicate stands, which were very nice! rough, non-polished, no stain, but quite light, and worked incredibly well for cards, and many other things.
so, im wondering how much interest there would be in relatively cheap, wooden deck display stands with you guys? i mean, depending on how much detail is wanted (staining, design changes, sets of precise duplicates), how many, etc, the price would be slightly affected, but overall, he loves working with wood, and said he wouldnt mind if i wanted to ask you guys if you'd like to try them out ;)
let me know what you guys think, i appreciate any input, and ill post pics as soon as i can (im not on my PC atm). im pretty sure he would be down for personalized detailing of many sorts, as well, and i have been doing artwork of all kinds professionally for some 20 years, so i may help on some things too. ;) if you all (or some of you) are interested, i'll see about getting this going! thanks guys, and loving the site progress since i was last here! ;D will be trying hard to keep up, and get back to being a regular ;)

« on: November 16, 2013, 08:19:43 PM »
great idea, Sparkz!  i have a Target down the street, as well as a Home Depot... i will surely give this a try.
on yours, did you drill through both layers of the plastic? i ask because like you say, it would be intersting to put a background behind the deck... if you went through both layers, this would seem like it would make it difficult- though, wouldn't having the "posts" in the front (if they extended into the back) cause the pic not to have the pressure it needed to stay in place? idk...  :-\
i think it would be nice to blow up a back design, or art from one of the cards, from the deck you are displaying, and use it as the picture in the frame. then, if you have a sealed deck, you could still have the extra art on display without having to have an opened deck nearby. this is what i'm considering, anyway.
i was also thinking, if you wanted to display 2-4 decks, you could buy bigger standing frames, like these, and use more posts, though keeping it standing would become a problem once you started going more than one-up in your display. maybe you could use something to weigh down the stand's bottom?
i think i'm going to paint the back black, and use a mirroring paint for the front, if i'm not adding a pic to the frame...

@MRMollusk-
if you did enjoy Jing, you should check out Jing KOB: Twilight Tales. it's very good as well, and if you don't have as much free time as you used to, one 7 book series shouldn't hurt too much. ;)
i really liked a lot of stuff about Jing, but the cities and the cultures within were always pretty cool. also, if you haven't already seen it, besides the anime for Jing, there is a movie called Seventh Heaven. )been meaning to get around to watching that, actually.(

I actually did read one of the Twilight Tales books. I think it was the one about the art city, with all the paint?
I loved the style, but I could never get my hands on another one past that.

if you are still interested in reading it, i did a little searching in some places i know of, and i managed to find books 1-4 and 6 at "right stuf!", for anound 4$ to $10. (but be quick, they have as few as 2 of some of them)
i also found all the books at amazon, where they are available new and used starting at $0.01!  :o
last, if you find you have no other choice, and don't mind reading a manga this way, check out manga365...
btw, sorry i can't post links, i don't know how to do so using my xbox360 for this.   :-\

also, if you are looking for mostly manga (though they do have a ton of anime, and other related stuff...), www.animecornerstore.com has a really good selection, but no Jing at all...

o.k. good, i was hoping to have add-ons available soon, so i know what i''l have left to spend that month. i looks like the limited deck will be a lot different, now that backing has gone so well, but we will see... i just "managed" to switch to the "1xunlimited, 1x limited, and 1x tarot." fot $72, and added a coin/pendant for someone else.  :Di am very happy to see Shane able to make items without the dull albino dragon logo thrown on everything. it just made other coins kinda half-cool, imo. i really hope to see that Shane functions just as well, if not better than he did with Eric breathing down his neck... (this deck/vs/princessbride is no contest, unless you hate cthulhu (to begin with, or now that it's so damn popular and overdone), or love princess bride...)  ::)

Wait a sec...  The only difference between the standard and limited edition Bicycle decks is the phrase that appears below the Bicycle logo?  That's the whole difference, right there?  That don't seem right...
The spade on the limited has tentacles!

Oh, well, in THAT case...

um... seriously... if the art between the two is somehow different, which remains to be seen (i guess), after reading the KS page and all the tiers, i would have no idea how to get both decks. i see one for each of the limited and the tarot, etc., but i don't even see any add-ons (yet...).  :-\ man, i'm kinda scared of what all he may end up adding on for the people who will die for this chtulhu stuff. personally, i'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the book written by kickstarter backers! :karrit:

The Conversation Parlor / Re: Next-gen gaming: PS4, XB1, etc.
« on: November 11, 2013, 12:56:18 PM »
for me, unlike fanofyankees13 (lol), i am going to have to really take money into account when making this choice. luckily, i am interested enough in all the games i still have yet to play for PS3 and Xbox360 (including d/l'd games), for it to be a little while before i MUST have a new system. (i am also looking into SteamOS, but i'm waiting to hear what PC gamers opinions are on this one, first.)

i did, at one point, have no difficulty choosing the PS4, because of all the issues surrounding stuff like used games, and indie game development with the XboxOne. it seems that Microsoft has come to it's senses on those problems, now, thankfully, so other than paying an extra $100 for a kinect (that i don't want  >:(), it pretty much comes down to the games. since i can use both for DVDs/Hulu/Netflix/internet...

so as for games, it seems they will both have Assassin's Creed IV, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, NFS: rivals, and the (seemingly) awesome Watchdogs. while PS4 will have exclusives for
Deep Down
The Order: 1886
Killzone: Shadowfall
Driveclub
Knack
and Infamous: Second Son

and XboxOne will have-
Dead Rising 3
Titanfall
Halo 5
Forza Motorsport 5
Crimson Dragon
and Ryse: Son of Rome

so for me, it's just going to be a tough choice until they have more games sceduled for each system... :P

@Don- i don't mind you merging it at all, i just hope there is someone who can answer a couple of those (many) questions!  ???
i very much agree with you on CowBe, Trigun, and GITS most of all... i'm very curious about the new GITS series i saw a disc from a couple months ago...
@Sparkz- Man Machine Interface was an awesome book- fortunately, when i wanted to give a copy of it as a gift to a girl i was seeing, along with copies of the 1st GITS book, and GITS 1.5- Human-Error Processor, there was another printing (a larger book, with blown-up images) of the first book, and MMI, that were slightly edited- keeping me from looking like a perv for putting these in her hands (while MMI isn't so bad, if she had started reading with the first book, as one should, i don't think the beginning would have been very cool for her... [maybe had it not been the first set of manga i gave her, and were i not 32 while she was 20 at the time, it wouldn't have been as bad]).   :P

well, i guess since others were doing this on the thread this was merged with, i might as well mention some of the stuff i'm into...

as for anime series-
wolf's rain (one of my cats is named Darcia)
d. gray man, deadman wonderland
darker than black, one piece
naruto, naruto shippuden
attack on titan
bleach (hooray! Ulquiorra!)
bubblegum crisis 2040
gankutsuou, basalisk
mushi shi, moribito
ninja scroll (duh)
serial experiments: lain
appleseed, and a.s. ex machina
last exile (my first cosplay was alex row- this was awesome, as i didn't have to do anything to look like him, other than dress the part... "being" him was the challenge. i was waaay excited, and spent close to a thousand bucks having a silversmith make me items for the outfit.  :mindf-ck: i now display them, and i sometimes wear the whole uniform for fun. 8) )
last exile: fam- the silver wing
samurai champloo, air gear
mezzo, burst angel
haibane renmei,
sword art online
heat guy j, kaze no yojimbo
voices of a distant star
the place promised in our early days
everything from Hayao Miyazaki / studio ghibli (got my Grandmother interested in anime by watching totoro, castle in the sky, and the cat returns with her. )
trigun, perfect blue
ergo proxy, samurai 7
fullmetal alchemist/ fma: brotherhood
berserk, kino's journey
hakkenden, gungrave
blue sub 6, big o 1 & 2
rurouni kenshin / samurai x
metropolis, eden of the east series and movies
elfin lied, coyote ragtime show
soul eater, jyu-oh-sei
s.d. kyo, escaflowne
hellsing, deathnote
king of bandit jing
gunslinger girl and pt. 2
cowboy bebop, witch hunter robin
casshern sins, x tv
samurai gun, sword of the stranger
-and on and on... but i'm starting to have trouble not repeating what i'm thinking of, so here at 3:48am, i'll leave it at these. i have lost my link to the site i wrote my list at a few years ago... i need to update it, too. does anyone know the site where you find and list your watched/watching/going to watch anime?  :-\

a few manga i've enjoyed-
gto, deathnote
trigun maximum
blade of the immortal
vagabond, hero
shirahime-syo
king of wolves, and japan (both these by the creator of berserk, kentaro miura)
rebirth, loveless
ragnarok, basalisk
claymore, blame!
berserk, bleach
zombie powder, anne*freaks
dogs, full metal panic
biomega, gits 1 , 1.5, and 2
bobobo-bo bo-bobo
samurai executioner
k.o.b. jing, k.o.b.j. twilight tales
lone wolf and cub
cowboy bebop- shooting star
chobits, s.d. kyo
gunslinger girl, Es
now, the demon ororon
black cat
and many others- sometimes shonen jump was somewhat fun as well...  :P

boy, it seems it's actually kinda fun to type out an excessive amount of titles you're into once in a while. lol...
anywak, these are some of my more recent favorites... (strangely enough, i love cards, and i love anime, but i have absolutely no desire whatsoever to own a deck of licensed anime playing cards. why is that?  :o )
while i'd still like replies to my earlier questions, i'm also curious as to what everyone's favorite anime's are when it comes to the music they make for the shows. i'm sure a fan of Yoko Kanno myself, but i also have so much music from anime soundtracks on my MP3 player, i can listen to it for hours and hours and not hear the same track twice. [=)]

The Conversation Parlor / Re: POLL: Call of Duty:Ghosts, or Battlefield 4?

although my friend will be paying for the majority of the cost of the game, as well as any multiplayer maps he insists we "have to play", i'm still going to end up being more concerned about the quality of the single-player campain. so fanofyankees13, it helps that you value the Ghosts campain so much... and even moreso than the other COD games is impressive. that makes a big difference.
kinda wondering what the "freefall" map will be like... sounds pretty neat-o.  :P  have you had a chance to play it?  (@Don- maybe your step-son would appreciate this dynamic map, if it is as ever-changing as it is suggested. this would really keep people from being "NST"'s fairly effectively, i would guess. =] )
i was also wondering if the gun selection was impressive... are there any uncommon weapons available? and what are the differences between the two games on this topic?
@fanofyankees13- when will you be getting BF4? if it is soon, please post your opinion of it when you get it, and let me know how it compares to your experience with COD:G's campian.
also, why COD on PS4, and BF4 on XB1? is there a significant difference between the versions? :-\

having a hard time picking between these... my friend is wanting to get me one or the other for us to play together on Xbox360. from what i've seen, they both have some pretty cool features/qualities to them. if anyone knows about this stuff, which is going to be the better choice for multiplayer, and why? also, which has the more interesting single player campain? :-\
(btw, for some reason, it says you can pick two, but really, it only makes sense to choose one. hopefully this is what everyone will do... if anyone can change this from two to one, please do. thanks.)

The Conversation Parlor / interesting anime/manga?
« on: November 09, 2013, 10:11:35 PM »
i was wondering what people here are watching /reading when it comes to anime and manga?  :-\
it's not really difficult to find something to watch, but having seen so much, i like to have recommendations when i get ready to consider new series (or stories). if you are really enjoying a show, or a book, please mention a little bit about it, such as what it's about, who's writing it, producing it, is it a drama/comedy/scifi/etc., or a combination?  ::)
feel free to mention favorites as well, it will give an idea of what your tastes lean towards... although, it may be hard to nail that down, with so many different types of stories in anime and manga- at least it is for me.

myself, at the moment, i'm watching Last Exile- Fam, The Silver Wing, and getting ready to switch from the manga to the anime of Attack on Titan. speaking of AoT, does anyone know how many episodes this series is going to run? (in the american release of the manga, i have only seen up to book 7, but it appears the anime is a bit beyond this already...) of course, i'm also keeping up with One Piece, starting Shippuden, finishing SAO, and rewatching a bunch of old favorites. (and some that are not even close to favorites, that my friends want me to watch with them)  :mindf-ck:

i have some questions, as well, if anyone can help out...
i'm wondering if anyone has seen the new Berserk movies... if so, how are they? do these contain new details, or are they just movie versions of stories from the manga? or do they include less, like the original anime series?

reading/considering (the short list)
Berserk
Blade of the Immortal
AoT
Vagabond
Loveless
/
Dogs
Biomega (enjoyed Blame!)
Yagyu Ninja Scrolls (what does this have to do with Basalisk, if anything?)

btw, i read the first GTO series- are the other spin-offs/prequels any good?  i'm also wondering if you have already read Claymore, is it worth it to watch it? does anyone know any details about all the "Alice in the kingdom of" mangas?

i'd like to know if anyone has seen Michiko and Hatchin.. with the people working on this, it has me very curious. i'd also like to know if anyone knows anything about the new GITS series.  :karrit:

i currently have subscriptions to crunchyroll, and hulu plus, if anyone has recommendations that they know are on these services... i can always try finding anything else through rightstuf!.com, if not. although, if you bring up something you think is awesome, and know a good place to find it, please mention it, or provide a link!

  :D thanks everybody!   :bosswalk:

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Carbon Fiber Playing Cards (KS)
« on: November 08, 2013, 09:22:49 PM »
well... if i needed a deck that would last for life, and i was buying cards because of wear and tear often, this wouldn't seem like the worst idea, really. as for if they are printed on card stock or not, i watched the videos on the KS page, and they do not seem like a fake. i also noticed in the picture you showed above, mr. faukx, that the way the pattern lies on the cards is different from one to the next, from what i could tell by looking at the corners.

if i was going to get one of these, i think i would have to go with the red first, or the blue- they are a hundred times better looking than the plain black, although it may just be the way i'm seeing them, since they are not in my hands. (if you watch the video of the colored thread decks, you will notice the depth is more than you could achieve with printed images) if i was a backer, i would actually pull my pledge if we didn't reach the strech goal. speaking of which, why the h*ll are different colors a goal, when i doubt there is any printing minimum? it seems like he would be allowed this option from the start...  o.O?

i guess considering a pledge for four of these cards is $20, i have to think $120 for a deck and a metal case (because if you are going to spend $100 on these cards, why wouldn't you spend the extra $20 on a decent case?), all shipped, is pretty reasonable. although, i have no idea what carbon fiber costs, even in bulk, so i could be way off.   :-\

personally, i would be more likely to consider this deck if it were more unique than just the material it's made of. some custom work would be nice, but it would even look better if the colors weren't so damn standard... they even have one-way backs, for God's sake. ???  maybe they will improve when the creator starts getting some feedback. it might be worth watching.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Cthulhu Playing Cards Game (KS)

the backs don't really impress me very much, although the "SD cthulhu" look for the faces is kinda cute...
i'm having a hard time even considering paying $14+ when i've really only seen three cards, and the tuck case looks like what the postal service uses to ship the cards in, not any actual beginning of a concept to consider.
i really liked the AD call of cthulhu deck, and having that available if you don't already own it makes this one hard to take seriously. i could see my japanese girl friends loving those cute versions of these characters, but as said, the pips in the indices are not very kind on the eyes.  ???

18
if there was a single card i believe should be scrapped, and reconsidered, it would have to be the ten of clubs... when i got that update, i was pretty confused. i mean, an art card? really? please, if anyone else has seen this card, and can give me a good reason why it should be included, let me know, i'd like to not hate it so much.  :-[
i have considered commenting on the project for it to be done over. i mean, hell, splash it with some various colors, or something, give me the impression that SOME work went into it... geez...

thanks everyone for the ideas... this thread has been of great help.  :)

i just went to Michael's today, and i wanted to let everyone know that if you are interested in doing this project, they have a deal for "buy one, get one free" on all frames, including these, and up to $229 each. it will only be good until tomorrow night (end of nov. 2), so hurry! you won't need a coupon for this, it is a store deal, but if you only want one, they have a 50% off coupon available now online (sorry i don't have a link)- although, if you ask most cashiers, they would give you one anyway. (that's how i got one)

20
There is only 99 as you said 65x1 and 17x2 if you add that up that's 99 then the singed cards are one deck of the grain back we will sing on so that's why thanks for backing.

this new concept really is magical! what type of song will be sung on these cards?! what kind of mood does this put the cards in? would you mind just singing on my whole order? i think i would surely pay extra for that!

So, you bought those decks!  Well then, you have a good rule of thumb to work from: if a deck's design/color palette in any way resembles the Venom decks on the screen, they'll likely end up looking like the Venom decks in print!

this is a very easy way to judge color combinations such as these, with such thin lines... that's why i was worried. =[
thankfully, no, i didn't buy the venom decks, but they were given to me in the hopes i would like them based on what they looked like on screen... i don't recieve a lot of decks as gifts anymore, actually, as i doubt other's (non-card collector's) ability to pick out what i would want, after decks such as those. :(  when people do get me something, i like for them to look at some of the decks that i have, and judge from there. the venom decks actually serve as a "what not to do" for buying and designing, i believe, making this topic quite useful for those who haven't seen it.

but on the topic of the dark templar deck, is anyone here still backing this one?

i got my Deco decks and coin a few days ago... i really like them, and i get where Paul is coming from on wanting the design in the background to be visible, but not overly apparent. they look like high quality cards (well, they are HQ cards...), but when you inspect them a little closer, the details in the cards are more than they seem. i also have an awesome new coin.  :bosswalk:
i really like the changes in colors of faces, pips, and details between the two decks. these are very fitting shades of each color to compliment the differences, everything works together very well.

Then why do you guys hate on the big guys when they release colour changes? Calling those money grabs and Paul a justified business model. You cant pick and choose. Goddamn hypocrites.

silly phegget! is it that you are upset you can't have one of these awesome decks with the errors? is it that important to you? i got the "v.2" myself, and could care less that another tuck choice exists... nobody withdrew money from my account for it, so i don't care if i didn't get one. to the people that did, and like that sort of thing, i understand this, and i'm personally happy to see them offered, as it was my understanding that this wasn't his intention- it was interested people who asked him if they could possibly get one of these first-printing tucks, of which he then kept a small supply to meet these needs. boy, how could he ever do such a thing!?  >:(
i don't see how this is anything like offering color changes, as John B. said. i mean, maybe it would be similar if one of these "big guys" printed a deck and got the wrong color, mentioned it to explain a delay, and was shown interest by collectors in the "wrong" color. if they then put aside some of these decks (and very few, really) to meet this demand, it would be nothing like just switching colors because they know they can sell them.

and "G.D. HYPOCRITES"? don't you think this is a little much?  :-\ no one here has insulted you for your skewed view of the situation... learn that others are not always going to agree with you. and if the pressing of this issue was any indication, it's most likely pretty common most people aren't going to agree with you. sorry buddy, we are all welcome to our opinions, even if they are abnormal- like yours.  :(

Is it too late to mention that the design was on par with fried women and naked ice cream?

myself, i think ice cream is much sexier clothed... it leaves something to the imagination...
fried women on the other hand~ i don't get too excited for crusty girl parts... so the comparison to this deck is right on... <^_^>

USPC (and probably every other printer out there) has some difficulty with printing low contrast, dark images.  Two prime examples of this are the Bicycle Venom and Bicycle Venom Strike decks.  The artwork on both was great, but WYSIWYG does NOT apply to CMYK-printed playing cards.  The designs of both were overall very dark with what was supposed to be a few brighter details here and there, but the whole thing ended up looking like mud.

There was also a print run of the Black Arcane deck from E that had this same issue.  I'm guessing that an early print run looked too light, more gray than black, so they opted for a heavier shade of black.  Unfortunately this also resulted in much of the finer details on the design being lost in a sea of black ink.  The most recent print run I've seen has corrected this, going back to a lighter shade of black and allowing more details to show through.

A deck this dark, with the brighter areas mostly being just fine detail work, will probably (and I can't say with total certainty, but probably, based on recent history with similar decks) lose a lot of that detail work behind a mess of dark ink.

thanks for clearing up my concerns with the color, Don. i was actually horribly dissapointed with both venom decks (though they looked great in theory- as do these backs), so if that is going to be an issue here, what does it matter, had i even loved this back ?  :-\ (i mean, it's alright, and for the type of deck, it would have looked somewhat nice...) it's not like there are no other decks to tie up my (little bit of) money, right now anyway... for that matter, even just on kickstarter.  :mindf-ck:

Wait - so they told you that the cards came out sticky and unplayable?  With the default MAGIC FINISH on them?  And that THEY told USPC to use "an alternative" based on an idea they had?

I call bullshit.

i had a hard time with this, too. as i said, it didn't really aid me in determining an answer for my questions, even though i told them flat out they are possibly going to lose backers as a result of this claim alone (and not just for this project, but maybe future ones, as well). i even told them i was going to post the reply they gave me where others could see it, to address many people's concerns. i was pretty clear (from my message to them) what they needed to do, and this didn't help matters... at all.  :-\ oh well... at least now i know where the money will come from for my crystal additions in my black-out deck.  :D

hey guys...  :)

so, i heard back from the project creators on the finish issue, where i asked for further details, and here is what i got-

"Cardicians says:

... We asked USPC to test one idea we had for a custom finish for us. That first idea didn't worked as the cardswere sticking together, not playable. Then, we provided an alternative, that they said it works. This idea makes the cards more smooth.
It's not something that can be trademarked or used exclusively by us. It's just a process, based in the idea we had to improve the cards.
So, for obvious reasons, we can't share details publicly as everyone else would start doing the same.
Please give your cards a try when you get them, and then let us know your thoughts ;)"

i don't know if this is helpful to anyone else, but i still feel like i'm where i was with my questions to begin with, really.  ::) maybe it's true. i suppose it's possible that USPCC gave them the option to do this because of this designer's association with elite cards, because between them, they are doing more than a couple projects lately... ( :-\?)  at least they got back to me at all, which is more than i can say for many designers who are confronted with backer's questions. personally, i'm not too worried- i still like them enough to back for now.
