Playing Card Plethora / Re: Your favorite borderless cards

Modern feminists are female supremacists. That's all I have to say. ::)
And nitpicking like you are is one of their faults.

...That said, it's also my favorite, but only the arizona red. Don't really care for the other. Not sure why, since I usually only buy blue decks...

I just wanted to bother you all for a moment.
NO! STOP BOTHERING ME! :-[
...Just kidding :P
If it talks about me it can't be a bad idea right? ;D I'll let you have exclusive peaks if you skype with me from time to time. :P

I believe you need to blur your eyesight to be able to see the cards, kinda like for some optical illusions.
That's what I've read as well; your eyes need to be out of focus(which is extremely easy for me due to my inability to focus both eyes at once to begin with). It also makes near-sighted people more likely to see the marks by mistake if they forget to wear/take off their glasses...

It's probably never been done before so I think the best way to know would be contacting USPC directly.
customdivision@usplayingcard.com
Don't forget to mention the reason behind it, they'd probably be more likely to make a deal if there's more to it than just not using their service. :P
As for the coating, I'm pretty confident no South-American company could compare to USPC's quality.

I think the audience will be different than magicians and serious poker players. For them there is nothing like a deck like we have seen succeed very well on KS. This audience is for the traveler, the novice, the person who always wants something to do with their friends when there is a spare moment after lunch or waiting for the next project to start.
That's what I had in mind of course. I think we should all understand that by now - although I'm not sure about Nathan. ::)
I am ruining yet another deck to experiment with hole size and position. The reason I chose the location for the hole was to accept the caribiner. If you make the hole it too far from the edge then the deck will not fall to the bottom of the caribiner but will become cocked and will scuff the finish inside the hole, which is all the edges of the cards. The other option is to change the carabiner size. They even make round ones so that is not out of the question.
Hmm you're right, I wasn't considering the size of the carabiner. Though even with the hole closer to the edge, the shape I posted allows it to have more material on the sides rather than just a thin ring shape. The edge would be thin, but it would have more support around it.
If an asymmetric shape is important to you, something in-between would also work - though the problem with an asymmetric shape is that it would be harder to play with as you would have to flip each card the right way in order to use the hole.

Oh, and while the title of the thread mentions thinking outside the box, I think we're doing more here - thinking through the box. ;D

could of had a better stock i think
Premium bike stock is actually really good, I think. The stock used for custom decks is better than the one used for rider backs; add to that better quality control and the durability boost of magic finish, and you've got yourself a really nice deck.

As for the design, I think sometimes we have to accept minimalism as something more than laziness. I personally love them and at this price, I consider it worth it.
That said, I didn't get any because international shipping is a b****. ::)

I actually like that idea, the unusual shape and especially the holes could allow for very interesting art.
Can we be partners? ::)
It's just an idea, but you could make it two-way with a shape like the picture I attached; I think it would make shuffling and general handling much easier, especially if you intend to play games with it.
Plus it looks cool. :P
(Oh, and having the hole a little further from the edge would probably make the cards more durable as well)
Would the cards be plastic or paper?

As far as design goes, I'd be happy to volunteer if you'd like. I have a friend in Guatemala, I've heard a little about the situation there... If the project helps the kids, it'll be my pleasure. :)

You know, If you googled the amount of f**ks I give about Dan and Dave products that aren't cards or card related, you would not find it!
Oh, look, I did:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0_%28number%29

Well, that's certainly a very dangerous looking, easy to conceal blade.  I'm pretty sure that'd be illegal in a lot of countries.
Hmm right, I'd have to check the laws in Canada before ordering one if I ever had the extra money to spend on it. Then again, the definition of a "concealed" weapon would be a little too vague in some cases. The blade isn't any more hidden than that of most pocket knives.

I dunno about it being relevant for the twins, but I think I like it too much to get myself to give a damn. :P
If the blade is a quality one, then I have nothing against it.

Hey, it's not like messed up imagery of christian origin doesn't exist. ::)
As for nudity... Unlike Alex's drawing, Eve actually has nipples on most paintings where this region is visible.
Oooh I should stop, I'm being offensive. ;D

Any one up to receiving in the mail a blank 52 trial proto. Give it a shuffle, fan, hold em, throw them and then write a review here of how it went.

The trial is thick paper stock with a sprayed lacquer finish.....sorry that’s all I have for now, but it is enough once you see it.
The idea being to see how the shape affects handling, I would think? If the finish is slippery enough to allow any fanning at all, then it's a great idea to start with as prototype like this.
I wouldnt mind doing it, but being in Canada the shipping would hardly be worth it so I'll have to pass. :P
Just to have an idea though... Just how different is it from a regular poker deck?

I think no uncut should ever cost that much no matter what. I don't care how much effort went into designing a deck; if you can have the deck itself for a few dollars, there's no reason you should pay a design premium on the uncut for the same art.
That said, I do want a Curator uncut pretty badly. :P

And... ? ;) I don't personally like De'vo's way of teaching. It isn't very clear.
...And you were wrong in saying "by Ellusionist", that's all I'm saying. :P
the video by de'vo is really cool he really very skillful .. if i am not wrong he have a dvd call xtreme beginners .. it have 1 and 2 the 1 teaches about card flourishing etc and the 2 also teaches card flourishing but it also teaches pen spinning and dice stacking .. about a few month back i have wear a tutorial on dice stacking , the person teaching it does it as if it is very easy and it also put the camera below the cup to show you how the trick work ..
Hawjinjian, we've told you this multiple times already, but read the thread before posting. Nathan already mentionned Xtreme Beginnerz 2.

By the way, for those interested, I remember Tannens selling a pretty cheap set of dice, in case some of you want to try it out. ;)

First I'd like to mention that apostrophes and plurality have nothing to do with eachother. Seemed like relevant information.
Anyway, your participation in the forums should be welcome, most people around here are pretty nice. :P

When asked on their Facebook page, they said it had nothing to do with HOPC and BC. They said it didn't have anything to do with that company, so I'm guessing it'll be a partnership with another company, maybe D&D?
That doesn't even make sense, how could the coincidence between E and TBC mean something between E and D&D? :-\
We're probably just overthinking it, E says it's a coincidence so let's just take it as such for now.

Well, the pictures certainly don't show cellophane(And one of the boxes even has a bent flap corner...), but then again, do they ever? There's also the possibility that they could be resealed.
Since it can be obtained for free with a brick of regular fultons, I don't think we should see it as anything more than a little bonus. They don't force anyone to buy them separately - if you do, then you deserve paying that price. :P

You guys are assuming too much and some of you already blaming E for mistakes they haven't made. Calm down, wait and see. ::)

Yup, the artwork is awesome... The back is nothing special but the joekrs and court cards are an instant hit with me.
I really need to start looking into shipping forwarding with all that international buying. :-\

Xtreme Beginnerz 2 by Ellusionist.
Nathan... Only De'vo is capable of such a cheesy name, Ellusionist is only selling the DVD. ::)

If I can get my hands on a stick of dice I might try it out. I really like the one with cards. ;D

21
I just wish these were printed by the USPCC.
It's a plastic deck... What difference does it make?
The court cards do look fantastic and at this price, I might be tempted to buy a few. I love the pips, too!

Edit: With a $33 shipping estimate for two decks... Yeah, not gonna happen. :(

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK-The Grid
« on: April 28, 2012, 01:15:58 AM »
The box art does have Bicycle elements in it, though. Specifically the design around the spade, between "The Grid" and "Poker Playing Cards". That is specific to the Bicycle brand and couldn't be considered generic.
I'll only buy it if it does end up being produced by USPC.

I was thinking of making one like that too, in purple leather with a little bonus. ::)
It looks really nice, and definitely much cheaper.
Anyone knows how much lizard skin actually costs?

I think the price is ridiculous. It's all synthetic, and its not like that material is going to protect the box anymore than a normal porper. PASS!
Dude, it's like designer bags and shoes. It may not protect your deck more, but you pay for the name recognition. I understand it may not be your thing, but some people DO go for that kind of stuff.
And who said it was synthetic?

It's literally impossible for 500 decks to sell out that fast
Did you even read the post above yours? If you haven't, do it now and stop making stuff up. Or look up the definition of "literally", whichever you need.

While kind of limited in other ways, I like that the store software I have puts a "hold" on things when you put them in the cart, so you have 30 min to finish your checkout.
Not to be off topic, but may I ask what your store software is? I should start looking into the options I have eventually. :P
