Damn, I should have waited to avoid USPCC's crazy shipping fees

Now there's something that says a lot about how outrageous the fees must have been - to consider T11's shipping fees something less than crazy?

In that case, a private message would be more appropriate. If anything you may have made the trade more difficult with your skepticism.

I think that I'll just wait until they've completed the Smoke and Mirrors series with v54, so that we can just get that variety deck.

Looking at the photos they have on their site, I suspect they do not show the cards because they did not have them to photograph. That tuck box is taped together, and looks like a sample. It's empty.

I don't care much for uncuts, though. Those just take up storage space.

The "value of art" debate is always amusing. It boils down to two principles, which are universal to value discussions but perhaps most appropriate and poignant with art"

• An item is worth what someone will pay for it
• If you find art is overpriced, you are free to make your own

Basically, if you don't want to pay $300 for an AIP bottle, you can make your own for just a few bucks! So that should solve the problem, right?

At least for cardistry, a single ruined card is not the end of the world. 51 cards handle a lot like 52. And you can always toss a joker in there to replace one if needed…


…and always carry a pack of bikes. You never know when you're going to need a backup for a friend.  "Here, let me give you a deck that hasn't been put through so much" or "A cool deck handles better; this one is getting pretty warm, use these nice Rider Backs…"

...when I ordered them, I change the decks from range 6-12 decks and the shipping price didn't change.

And this might be the reason of the minimum 4 decks as well, if you buy 4 decks that means you have around 8$ for shipping. But, for 3 or less, the shipping that included in the deck price isn't enough.

There was a problem with their site when they launched this deck. The 4 deck minimum and low shipping was a bug. A brick now costs $15 again, and 4 decks will still cost you $9.

Okay, $8/deck shipped to your door seems very reasonable.  That's even a little less than Kickstarter prices!  Well, for one deck, anyway. But then you have 143 other decks to deal with. And if you're going to compare best-case prices… then let's compare to a fully custom deck:


144 Vortex decks, shipped, during kickstarter: $6.94
144 Vortex decks, shipped, during final Vortex sale (and due to the reseller package discount, you also end up with two uncut sheets!): $8.11
144 Revision One/Brimstone decks, from circlecitycards.com today: $5.10

Circle City charges you $3 for shipping one deck. Alex charges you $6.75, which is $0.75 more than D&D, but once you hit two decks Alex starts charging you less.  Ellusionist for a single deck offers you $6.70 for priority or $3.27 for "SuperSaver USPS". And in these three cases, only the Vortex deck costs more to start with, coming in at twelve cents more for a one-man operation with fully custom faces. And I highly doubt Circle City or Alex have streamlined their shipping methods and processes in the same way that D&D, Ellusionist, and T11 surely must have.


Feels like beating a dead horse at this point, so I'll stop. My point is that, unless you're a wholesale customer, this is a mighty expensive deck for three custom cards, a nice back, and a nice box. It is a VERY nice box, and a very nice back, and what custom faces were done are great!


Buy what you want, and what you like, but always be realistic about the costs involved.

If there's a way to add an uncut sheet to my 12-deck kickstarter shipment, please do let me know.

I'm also 100% sure that the '1411' means 'produced in the 14th week of 2011'.

…but I did plan to show this to the Dan and Dave team.  Subtle, perhaps, but I think it needs to be done.  Perhaps, say, on Monday!

I think the Global Priority Mail boxes top out at 20 pounds, and the large size costs $55 to ship to the Philippines; I recall 78 decks weigh about 14 pounds, give or take. So for $55 you could send… 110 decks? Not sure how helpful that is.
