Playing Card Plethora / Re: ICON Playing Cards (KS)

Hey everyone, Benji here! First of all, sorry for the very late reply, I would of liked to have jumped on sooner but as you can imagine I have been pretty busy recently. This seems like a cool forum! You now all have my full attention and I would like to try and address everything I can that has been mentioned.

I would like to thank of all of you for all of your compliments and also criticism. Everything is constructive and I take all of your thoughts and comments into account. I would like to first talk about the issue involved with Dylan. I would like to stress that there is nothing remotely strange about what he has chosen to do here. Dylan wanted to back 4 bricks and did not realise that you could just add the money onto your first pledge so instead he created 4 separate accounts and sent me a message when he did it to explain. Here it is -  http://prntscr.com/3ko861 -

I am sorry I couldn't address this sooner as I know this could be perceived as somewhat sketchy and that it can make ones head spin in circles trying to work it out but it really is that simple.

Now about me and the project. There is nothing I am hiding here and scamming anybody is completely out of the question. I am 15 years old, I spent 8 months working on this project because I love the idea of having my own deck. I put it on Kickstarter and asked for the minimum amount I needed to cover all my costs, no less, no more. I use Kickstarter all the time to back other projects and have connected my public Facebook profile to avoid people thinking this is any type of scam. You will have to take my word on this matter.

In terms of the sudden jump. A lot of this was actually pledged by a good friend at Pure Imagination Projects in the hope of selling them after. He believes in the project and has followed it since the beginning. It is very generous and I really cannot thank him enough.

I hope this answers most of the questions /issues in this thread and in messages and comments I have received outside of it. I have posted this on here and also on United Cardists as there is a similar thread going on over there. If you have any more questions or comments please don't be afraid to ask and I will try and get back to you ASAP.

Thanks so much,
Benji

Thanks for all the help Don. The person in the video is my good friend Sean who I am doing the project with. He is comfortable on camera so we agreed for him to do the video but I do know what you mean. If we relaunch I will be sure to make the video to a higher quality. Thanks for all your help.

Thank you Alex. I know what you mean and I am thinking about what to do. I may let the project run to the end and see what happens.

Thank you Don, this is very helpful. So in your opinion, I should cancel the project and relaunch at a later date? Will that not look very bad when I launch other projects on my account?

I am doing this project because I think it would be awesome to reprint something that was around over a hundred years ago. To hold it in your hands would just be amazing. The goal is big but I really believe asking for any less and we would really struggle. Maybe it is too much for a deck of cards project but it is how much we need for this deck of cards project if you get what I mean. It will either get funding or it won't. It is doubtful and I fully acknowledge we are asking for a lot. We will have to wait and see.

Good point. However, when I asked USPCC about the Apollo deck and if they had any plans to print it they said they had no plans and that's when I asked if I could make a Kickstarter to help fund not only printing the decks, but also scanning in all designs etc. I love these cards and that is why I want to try and get them back in print but that does cost a lot of money. I do get what your saying though.

Hey Ben, we cannot do this bit of the process ourselves. The USPCC have one of the only decks left and it is in their archives. Legally, they are the only ones who can do this process and so we have to pay them to do it. However, I fully understand what you are saying and i'm taking everything into consideration.

Hey guys, I understand everything you are saying. The bit that really costs is scanning in everything and drawing it out exactly the same so we have the files in a high enough quality to print. It is a lot of money and it is doubtful whether it will get funded. Thank you for the kind words about the project. JP does have a point. Although it is silly, I deleted my previous Kickstarter account so I could use my primary email for newer better projects. If you have any questions please ask me. Any feedback is super helpful.

I would like to ask something, what would happen if we were to cancel and relaunch with a new video, new goal etc. how would we do it? What would the response be? I am asking you guys because you know what you are talking about and I am considering this.

Thanks very much. I do know what you mean. I'm not sure about cancelling it just yet, I'm pretty sure it wont get its funding but I'll let it run over the weekend. I think, If I were to cancel it, I would come back on Kickstarter with a completely fresh design. And like you said, it would be practically completed.

Yeah, I only started thinking about the court cards once I had finished and launched the project. I am very skeptical about whether it will get its funding and if it doesn't, then I can redesign everything and hopefully make another project. Ill see how it goes though.

Yes, I will definitely be changing them but probably not unless the Kickstarter gets it's funding, the work might go to waste. If it gets funded then a lot of changes will be made to the court cards and the backers will get updated whenever a change is made or there is an update :)

Hi everyone. Thank you for your feedback and thoughts on the deck. It is very helpful. Im also, not the biggest fan of the court cards. I like the classic face but I don't think the rest really fits in. I will be changing them a lot but it would be really helpful to know what changes you think could work? Thanks.
