I am a huge fan of this art. For 38 euros shipped, it isn't too bad. The whole site's in German, and I am not seeing through whom this will be printed. USPCC I'm guessing.

What makes you say that?  Most times, if someone uses USPC, they say so.  Plus it's a German project and there's no shortage of top-notch EU printers out there.  Some of the Phoenix decks are USPC, but others are printed domestically by another print house.
I don't know. Although the artists need to get paid, I thought that 38 euros shipped is a lot for a non-USPCC deck. JMO

Nathan, 38 euro is a lot for ANY deck that isn't made of a precious or semi-precious metal, regardless of who made it...
I disagree. There are 52 different artists working on this deck, unlike most decks nowadays made by 1 person. It is obvious the work took longer than almost any other deck on the market, which explains its price. The artists need to get payed. Say the decks took 5,000 hours total to be designed. Divided by 52 is, lets round, 100 hours per artist. 999, or 1,000 decks sold. 38 euros per deck = 50$. 50/52 cards/artists = about 1$ per artist per deck. So if all decks are sold (which I doubt), each artist will have made 1,000$. 1,000/100 hours of work = 10$ an hour. That's BARELY MORE THAN MINIMUM WAGE! That's really not a lot, especially if it is their only source of income. That's NOT INCLUDING the printing, shipping, and web hosting fees, as well as the advertising for their work of art, which would remove another 10-20%. You're saying that they don't deserve 8-10$ per hour for this amazing work? What do S&M v1s, Gold Arcanes, or Gold Monarchs have that make them worth 10x more?

I don't get it. How does 1 artist take a longer time to design a card than 1 that designs a whole deck? I don't think the time frame here is what explains the price. I'm sure it's just that there are more artists to take into account and it's also another pretty limited quantity deck.
If you were to calculate that way then let's say we take the Actuators. Lance got like 10$ per deck rite. All that goes to him.  At 2500 decks it'd be 25000$. 350h(illustrations) means about 70$/h/deck and about 1.30$/card.  This is just a simple example.

Then the real calculation based on that for this deck would be, 50$ per deck. 50x1000=50000. 50000/350h(lets say it takes the same time though it should be lesser)= about 140$. 140/52= about 2.50$/h.
It's already more than what Lance gets eventhough he works on the whole deck for a longer period of time.

P.S. If by any chance my calculation or whatever is wrong, by all means tell me. It's like 4am here and I'm pretty sleepy and stuff. :-\

I don't know where this $120 price comes from.  It was listed at SGD135, which is under US$109 at current rates.  Was is listed at SGD120 previous to the current price at the time they sold out?

If you ask me, either price is too high.  Even US$57 on eBay is too high.  Someone's targeting deep-pocketed collectors with this one, that's for certain.

I think he meant that the price without the member discount is US$120.

I think he meant that the ebay price at 57$ is cheap comparing to 120$ in the link he found.

Oh yes, that makes sense, my apologies to you Daniel and thanks phantom1412 :)

Haha it's ok:)

Wow, thanks. I've been wanting to see those actual cards themselves for a long time. but they pretty much look the same. what was there to expect anyway. haha

Why don't you just buy from the local magic shop?

Because not everyone has a local magic shop.  If they did, companies like E and T11 wouldn't exist.
Take me for example. I live in the Bay Area, a place where the population density is very high. The closes magic shop to where I live is 45 minutes away commuting and 30 minutes by car if there is no traffic (which is rare). Once it took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there...

chill... what i meant was that he lives in Singapore and I live in Singapore too... That's why I asked him. And that magic shop which I was talking about, Magic Castle, is also about 45 mins away from where I live if I were to take  public transport.

If something's forty-five minutes away, it's not really local, no matter what method you take to get there, even if it's in the same city.  You can't get from one end of New York City to another in forty-five minutes, even in a car and with no traffic - but that doesn't mean everything in New York is local to all New Yorkers.  The general rule of thumb a lot of Americans use is that more than thirty minutes away isn't local, and you really better have one awesome job if you have to commute more than an hour to get there (again, assuming no traffic).

Speaking of which, I'd better get my butt in gear if I'm going to get my car from the mechanic!  Later!

Hahaha... I didn't know that. Singapore's different. Have you been here? It's a country, smaller than New York City (I'm sure most of you already know that) lol :)

Talking about getting a car... I really want a license!
can't believe I must wait 4 more years -.-

Thanks, that would be great. Yes, they are full portraits showing face. The Taliban destroyed a # of paintings but the Taliban would destroy a painting that had on it any image of a human (any human)

Well... I asked my grandparents and yes, it's wrong to have full portraits of the Prophet. Islam has been split into different groups with slightly different views and maybe that's why but I'm sure most groups still don't allow that as in it's wrong. Maybe it's just some people who don't actually understand this last time. About the shia and sunni, they said there are actually more than just those two groups. Pretty much because people start decided to change stuff you know. and because people move all over the world and after generations and generations, people lose tract of the real thing. Not that the Quran change but the actual lifestyle of the people. The Quran is basically the simple terms. I think. It's hard to explain. Ermm... let me give an example. When people pass away, funerals *(as in providing food and drinks for people who come to visit the late person) were not actually written in the Quran because of that there is a group of Muslims, the Muhammadiyahs who says that were are not suppose to have it. I'm in a group lead by Imam Syafi'i( the 'group' name is written in arabic and i dont know how to translate). You can click this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shafi'i if you want to know more. We have funerals* to quench people's throats after they help say prayers. You can have these type of funerals but you're not suppose to have it if it causes you problems as in money or stuff like that.

P.S. Don't actually take my word for everything because I could be wrong. This what I understand and what my grandparents understand ok. It's not concrete.

I have read a bit on Islam. I find it very interesting and find wisdom in its writtings. I am familiar with the "ban" for lack of a better word on images of the prophet but I have a religous art work book that displays many paintings of the prophet. They were painted by muslims in the 1200's. I am not trying to contradict what you say as I know it is correct I just wanted to ask you why these paintings of the prophet were allowed at the time. They are definetly artists renderings of mohamed. I have a few muslim friends and I have yet to get a straight answer. I suspect it has something to do with different interpetations between Shia and Sunni. I ask this question with respect to your Religion. It is something I have been trying to figure out since I purchased the book. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, after years of not having religious studies,I feel very rusty. I know that you are not allowed to draw or paint his face. I usually see pictures where his face is blank and is filled with an arabic word. are the ones in your book with faces?

I honestly have never heard of shia and sunni but quick googling brought me to understand that they have a few differences and while I did not read much I now that in these times, there are two types of ermm, how do i put it, religious leaders(?) or groups. One, says that what the Prophet Muhammad didn't do, we shouldn't do and the other, well, otherwise. Honestly I believe we are given our intellect to make things better. To improve. I heard once from an Ustaz about this. He said, someone told him, we shouldn't make bubur asyura(i totally don't know how to explain this, it's food) for break fast since our Prophet didn't. He answered, we'll if we can't make them, then it must be a sin! But imagine this, when the TIME comes, when we face the gates of hell, the angel guarding the door would ask one by one, what sin did you commit? the first guy answers, i stole! the next person answers, I murdered! you don't expect and elderly woman to come up and say, i made bubur asyura do you? if so, i fell sad for the woman. haha :) well, that's just a basic understanding of the differences

i would get back to you about them later when my grandparents wake up and i'll be able to ask them, it's 2:15 am here

14
Ok, so I just saw this thread and well, more religion talk. haizz...
Ermm let me say this, I skimmed through the thread coz it's so long so I'm sorry if i missed anything. ok, i'm a muslim, though not a really religious one and i don't really know much about my own religion much less others. but, I have faith. I'm 17, I'm still young, it's hard to actually care about the future and about the afterlife at times. so I don't actually read the Quran coz it's in arabic and i'm pretty sure the translated versions would not be exactly the same. To learn arabic together with malay, english and mandarin would be way too much for me right now. so, sometimes I go to mosque to just listen to the 'good' parts and it helped me understand that asking too many questions would shake your faith. I know it sounds like it means that there are actually no answers but honestly sometimes, there are no answers. (this would be pretty much in my view of my religion so bear with me ok) We are created and placed on this earth to prove our worthiness for heaven. Some questions are left without an answer to actually test our faith. If there is an answer to everything then why place us here? Might as well be enjoying ourselves in heaven. Everything is a test and if your faith is strong then you would know that everything that happened to you is a blessing. A blind man told an Ustaz, I am grateful that god made me blind for it leaves me unable to sin with my eyes. Bonus points if you ask me. and about all the wars and bad stuff people do for the 'benefit' of their religion, I honestly don't know what they're doing, seriously. sick people. so ask me anything about my religion and i will try to answer it, if i can :)
I understand choosing to be spiritual, it makes life bearable. It's nice feeling that someone is always watching over you. However, I don't know why that someone has to be some bloke who we can literally define and create images of.
Ermm... you can't create images of Allah. Neither can you create images of the Prophets or Prophet Muhammad (i know you can't create images of Prophet Muhammad but I'm not sure about the rest, sorry)

and to those who believe otherwise, I honestly understand and respect what you believe because I have an athiest friend who keeps asking about this and he's actually writing a book on religion.

Daniel, there is no reason to be afraid of joining forums now. IP addresses are logged everywhere you join, including Facebook and even emails. SMF software comes with an IP tracking feature that lets me see every action a certain IP does on a forum, regardless of account. Yes, I could hypothetically use the feature to stalk people, but I have better things to do with my time. In reality, I've used the feature to figure out who that troll sxephil is, and now with the help of Kanped, figured out that TCA is creating fake accounts to boost PR.

As for TCA pumping out an amazing product, I wouldn't care. Would you buy a Porsche for $10,000 (a steal) from someone who has a track record of scamming, lying, cheating, stealing identities, making fake claims and violating copyright laws?

Haha, I'm sure you do. It's great that you're using it to 'protect' us. :D and honestly, a porsche, for $10k? i wouldn't mind that. haha

haha. just go there tomorrow and get them. they're in stock! why don't you become a member? it's only $65 and the discounts you get from them would cover cover up the price of the membership after maybe around a brick of cards. you also get a shirt. i would help but you must give a good reason because well, it doesn't seem fair to those who paid for the membership and this deck has a very limited stock. i hope you don't think i'm stingy.

if these people suddenly shit out a great design from somewhere, it'll be kinda embarrassing. don't you think.

Questions have question marks and it's 'this person', not 'these people'.

No, I don't think it would be embarrassing at all.  I have reacted, arguably, more strongly than anyone else here and frankly, I'm quite proud of my restraint and humility based on the available evidence.  We have proven, excepting extreme coincidences. that Shane Carter is behind TCA, that he is a compulsive liar, possibly delusional, with no provable talent for anything at all (including design work).  Anyone capable of critical thinking, which should be anyone at all, will see that doubting and trying to spread the word about the fraudulence of TCA is the only reasonable course of action.

I just thought that he might be working with some people you know. It's a con, it's fun to work on a con with friends. Not saying it's a good thing.
And yeah i guess it won't be embarrassing. haha. you seem to have proven everything you've stated and that's pretty solid. I've skimmed through this thread and their page and they've not come up with any proper, solid defense, so yeah, it should be what it looks like, a con.

Yeah, from the previews you can kind of tell where the movie was going to go, before you even sat in the theater... and I agree, having a bit of a love for superheroes would help!

So, I'm a bit of a YouTube/video junkie.  I can easily lose track of time when I'm looking through the videos.

I normally like comedy, but my wife's co-worker sent her this today...   I was shocked

this collecting thing is way more than just buying the cards huh

If that's the case, try keeping your decks in your basement if you have it, or the back corner of a closet.  Desk drawers and cars seem to be no-good for my decks
My cards do however warp pretty bad when you drop them in a puddle of frozen strawberry daiquiri (I perform in bars).

i guess i found out the hard way about those desk drawers  :-\
oh yeah? i wonder how many you've drop already, haha
Have you tried the Karnival Death Heads?  Great deck for those conditions.

No, I don't actually own any BBM decks.  I'm waiting for one that really strikes my fancy.  I don't much care for any of the existing ones.  I really liked the notion of the inferno deck, but they messed that up.  What do you mean good for those conditions?  Are the Death Heads resistant to frozen drinks?

they've got these armour coating  :D haha

I rarely pony up the cash to go to an actual theatre to see a movie, I find the prices have gotten out of control... and people around me are always noisy.

CBJ

Ahhh...  ;D where do you watch movies if not at an actual theatre. haha

I highly recommend Chronicle.  It's about 3 teenagers who stumble upon something in the ground... and they end up getting telekinetic powers.  The story is great except for a not-needed love interest story line.

CBJ

I've watch chronicle too :D imo it's great how they skipped any useless info about how they got to know about their powers. though it was also expected of that one guy to lose control you know.

I seriously believe that the issue is handling conditions and storage.  You live in a hot and humid climate.  You need to keep cards as cool (not cold) and dry as possible.  When they warp, store them under pressure - a Porper clip, a deck press or, if resources are more limited, a stack of heavy books or something similar.  Silica gel will work, but needs to be "recharged" now and then by heating to remove absorbed moisture.  A dehumidifier might be a better option and more effective.

Lee Asher's website has a PDF on "Care and Feeding of Jerry's Nuggets", most of which applies to all playing cards in general.  Check it out.

The old place of where i used to store my cards may have been the problem since as of now, my new decks seems to be just fine.
and wow, those porper clips are expensive  :( i honestly have never heard of a dehumidifier so i googled it. this collecting thing is way more than just buying the cards huh  :-[ haha
