Playing Card Plethora / Re: The Playing Card Collectors'
« on: July 29, 2014, 10:23:29 AM »
This is just a random lurker's opinion, but I still consider EPCC to be somewhat of the value choice of the 3-4 primary playing card printers. (Maybe I'm way off though, I don't design nor have ever attempted to print a large run of playing cards) This more than anything is what makes me question the high prices (that don't even include shipping), because I definitely like the style and designs. I'm still on the fence about whether I'll be purchasing. $10-12 range I'd def be in, but there are so many choices in the playing card market lately.

New teaser posted on KW facebook this morning. I'm diggin the style a lot; that QoH is very unique :D
It also appears the deck name has been changed to "The Hive".

Note to Jackson: You could name a KW deck "Dirty Poop Sandwich" and I still purchase it.

Is there another definition for Alvus, because the definition I searched cannot be tied to this ...

It's almost like an early April fools joke or something, haha.

According to Wikipedia:
The alvus, among anatomists, has sometimes been used to refer to the intestinal tube, from the stomach to the anus. Alvus, in a medical sense, is taken from the state and condition of the feces, or excrements contained within that cavity.

I dunno what's up with that name :S

I'll throw out an opinion that doesn't matter much (mine  ;)).

I'd have no qualms purchasing the deck from hopc or kickstarter.
Some people cringe at the thought of kickstarter lately, but out of ~40 decks I've backed only 2 haven't delivered.

The others I've not dealth with, but they definitely have a good repuation.

Spammed is probably the wrong word, I asked them on their main feed as well as in a comment after the post about the curators themselves. Also, I fart in your general direction.

I spammed the hopc facebook page asking this same question (if this was 2nd print, how to tell the difference, etc.) and never got a response from them. Emmanuel at least had the courtesy to reply saying "It's no secret: the original run sold out. This is a second run."

Still don't know how to differentiate though.

The fact that this guy has 1150 feedback and the auction was covered under ebay buyer protection would have been enough for me to pull the trigger. It's on the buyer to determine if they're fakes or not and take appropriate action if necessary.

Will any incentive be available to domestic buyers who get in on your next ace celebration pledge level?  ;D

I guess you missed the part about offering his deck, normally rewarded at $15.00, for only $11.00...

No, no... no I didn't. But you can imagine what it'd be like if I did right?

The part I missed was the disservice international buyers apparently received to reward them with the extra deck for free, making them $9 each shipped as opposed to $11 for domestics.

I've been waiting for somebody to make a deck with this theme since I started collecting, but $12 is simply too much for this one.

There were three actuator versions that were all well-received, I don't see why there can't be 2 (light and dark) or more versions of this deck. I'd buy/back both for certain.

Design & Development / Re: POLARIS - a new deck design from Vända cards
« on: November 05, 2012, 10:00:57 PM »
okay...working on the Polaris designs and need some opinions...

trying to decide whether to go with a border or borderless background for the face cards. do you like the group on the left or the right?

I like the clean look of the borderless courts, but personally I believe the bordered versions on the left match the card backs better.

Also, it's too damn hot for a penguin to be just walkin' around here. That is all.

EDIT: OK I changed my mind, I like the borderless versions with the beveled pips from the bordered.

A few questions:

1) Are you available to trade?
2) Why are the Rejuvenate and Twilight decks $5 each, when normally they are just a couple?

There are only a few decks I'd be interested in trading for, else I feel I'd regress back to the point where I am collecting decks I don't absolutely want.
Verve Brio Blue and both Altruism decks are all I can think of at the moment.

To be honest, the Rejuvenate and Twilight decks were in a lot I purchased through ebay (mainly to get the Pirate decks, which I'm now selling) and I don't know a lot about them. I'm open to offers, haha.

15
I went through a gotta-get-em-all phase when first starting to collect decks (hope I'm not the only one  :-[)
Finally have gotten to the point where I want to sell many of my decks and be more selective about future purchases.

Real name is Joey, and all items will be shipped from Kentucky, USA.
My ebay account has 550 (100%) positive feedback.
The user name is busysellers, and I can sell through there if buyer prefers (although at higher cost to recoup ~10-11% ebay fees)

All the prices listed below are per deck, and I am OPEN TO OFFERS for most of these.
I'll charge actual s/h and ship via method buyer prefers. Reply or send me a message if you want a quote.

Again, good luck, but all the hype to me is just over the top and I have other things to spend my hard earned $ on these days...

Would that include lap dances and boxes of zebra cakes?

My 2 cents

I really like the card backs and face cards, but (to me) they appear to belong to separate decks.
The level of detail on the face cards is fantastic, but they almost make the card backs look too line-based without the shadows and shading present on the other sides.

I'm certainly no design expert though, so to each their own. I'd back them as they are or if you changed things.

21
Well that was a waste of excitement, I clicked the button within a second of it appearing and what was my price...? $260
Yippee!

It is a interesting system though, I've seen it get as low as $210 but that's still too much $$ for meese.

P.S. The quantity of Seasons reprints I planned to purchase has just risen by a considerable margin.  ???

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Codename: Andreas, from Brahma Playing Cards
« on: September 21, 2012, 11:30:37 PM »
i don't think this project can be funded because there are so many better decks!!!

Agreed 100%.

Not to mention I received one of the Steampunk decks printed by Brahma and was absolutely and utterly disappointed in the quality.
Maybe they've got their stuff together this go around.

23
This deck is such a piece of art. The kickstarter seems pretty good ($9 each though is kinda pricey) but I don't see why the custom aces are a stretch goal. I understand it is a lot of work, but I feel if you make all custom aces, it may help out your funding. When I think of stretch goals I think of seals, foil boxes, etc. other then that this seems like it will be very successful.

I agree 100% about the aces; I would like to see them included from the get go instead of as a stretch goal.
Regardless, I'm a backer without a doubt.

Do you have any idea when you might consider launching the project?

24
So I have heard that the first 2 groups have already gotten there chance to grab some Gold Crown decks.  I must be in the 3rd group because I havent recieved an email yet on my window.  Anybody know when the 3rd group gets a chance?

Nor have I received any notification as of yet.

25
They said that they printed much less than 2500, yet we can buy each buy a brick of them...

Heck, the way I read it's allowed to purchase multiple bricks just not on the same order.
