I don't post on here too often, but I feel like I need to on this one. I love everything about this project. The colors are gorgeous and vibrant yet super playable! Also, I love that the decks you see at the beginning of the project are the ones you get. No secret rare re-coloring. I'm trying to hold off on purchasing new cards, but I will definitely be supporting you early tomorrow. Excellent job on this project!

This one is kinda tough for me. I like the uniqueness, but the colors aren't my style. I think you could really make these pop with maybe a red and white combo similar to striping on a car? I think the background is what is muddying it up for me. Perhaps make more of a contrast? Just an idea.

Today's purchases.

I was reading through the comments on the Kickstarter, and it sounded like they were upping the page count. I believe to 56.

Figured I'd jump in here with my recent Kickstarter rewards. The Origins are insane. Like a better looking cousin of the medallions.  Also quite happy with my first signed deck!

As I have no real design skill or credibility, I will keep this short.

I really like this design! The colors are some of my favorites which makes it tough to pass on automatically. While mermaids aren't so much my thing, the theme is so well portrayed throughout the deck that I would buy it just for that now! Combining the two, I think you have a winner. Looking forward to watching this thread and seeing the good advice the rest of these guys can bestow.
Best of luck!

Beautiful jokers! I missed out on the early birds, but these might be enough to pull me in anyways.

Thanks so much for being willing to do this. As a consistent lurker, I've learned a lot from your posts. I went with the whole random card from favorite deck, and I got.... Queen of Clubs.
Thanks again!

Not to get off topic, but it's not my birthday. :P Also, I'm pretty sure I have it set up for the correct date. Is the blue color now for new members perhaps? Anyways, thanks for all the ideas!

I have also seen works of arts and designs that baffle me. But being a designer myself, i got to say that a lot of it comes down to the "concept" behind the "work"

Perhaps you can have your friend come up with a concept or a reasoning as to why he wants to do a minimalistic design. Without a concept, the design could be just seen as a lazy piece of work, especially for a minimalistic design.
Good point! Thanks. I'll tell him to keep his inspiration in mind through out the process.

Thanks all! Some of the "worth" of those pieces baffle me. I don't think he's heading quite this minimalistic. He may have been intimidated because I showed him the Federal 52s to demonstrate the other side of the spectrum;P

Playing Card Plethora / Minimalist decks

I'm trying to convince a good buddy of mine (very gifted artist) to step into the playing card world. He's interested in minimalist design, and I want to show him some decks for inspiration. The first one to pop into my head was the new Deco deck. Beautiful deck by the way Encarded. Anyways I was hoping you guys could add some to the list beyond the usual (NOCs & Rounders). Thanks!

Mercy me oh my... Being new here I got the privilege to read this whole thread through at once. My goodness, you've got some insane talent. I loved every single concept and would back/purchase any one of them. I discovered the whole kickstarter thing about two days after your second Fed 52 project I believe. It's been bugging me ever since. I guess I'll just have to spend all the money I would've put towards those on future releases.

I would say keep up the good work, but I have no doubt you already have. Looking forward to seeing what blows my mind next!

Thanks sparkz! I'm sure it'll be a great experience here.

@52plus  Feel free to consider me family ;) In all sincerity though, I guess to each his own. Who knows, maybe it would've been annoying to have to beat out a family member every time you bid on something. Anyways, thanks for the welcome and the open invitation. I won't hesitate with any problems or questions.

@Don      Haha I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the welcome and info. Sounds like it was a good time to jump on board. I won't hesitate if I have any questions. Thanks!

Introduce Yourself / Hello everyone!
« on: December 29, 2013, 01:23:00 AM »
Hey guys!
So I believe an introduction is in order. Let's start with the basics shall we? The name is Adam. Feel free to refer to me as such or as Mada257, whatever floats your boat. I am 17 and hail from California. I'm not entirely sure how I ran into this place (I think vjose32 had some part in it) but I sure am glad I did. I enjoy pretending that I'm a magician, but I'm still far from that title. I have dabbled in cardistry, but it hasn't quite caught a hold of me. Playing cards in general would be the main reason I'm here. Back in May of 2013 I was searching through the family game closet and discovered some Eagle playing cards. Later on I stumbled into some Bicycle Eco Editions and discovered the difference in quality. Picked up some regular standards and the money has steadily flowed out of my pockets ever since (much to my joy and dismay). As of my last count, I think I was in the mid 80s for a deck total which I know makes most of you want to pat my head and say "aww, that's cute." As of now though, I'm just loving this new hobby and can't wait to learn more about it from all of you!
Thanks for your time,
Adam.

I believe it was a vjose32 video that brought me over here. After lurking for a while, I decided to make an account and join in on all the fun! Learned a lot already.
