I regret the loss of Sleipnir from the poker deck.

I passed on the Elaine Lewis decks, but I did pick-up a Charles Pry Circus deck.
He's got one left:

Judy Dawson has much more info about Elaine Lewis -- its a great story which I will not try to retell.

I've bought two of her decks off eBay. I'm upset that I lost out on an auction for a deck of "Lips", but it seemed like the person I was bidding against was always going to top my bids.

DenverPete is a 52+J club member who has collected and sold many of her decks on eBay in the last couple of years.

If you join 52+J and come to the convention later this year I've bring the decks I own for show and tell.

Just got my survey for Emerald and am really pleased to see a place to include my deck numbers from the Scarlett project which KW will try to match with my Emerald decks. I think this is a really great touch!

That is nice - I hope he's not doing that for every one of his prior backers, though.  Not that it's a bad thing - it would simply be a severe test of one's sanity!
If you pledge and received a Scarlett Tally Ho Legacy Edition from the last Kickstarter you may request to receive the same numbered deck for the Emerald Tally Ho Legacy Edition.

So its just for the 50 Legacy boxed decks.

The art sort of reminds me of Golgo 13.

Is USPC doing his gilding?  Or is he having a third party do it?  Last I heard, USPC used paint for gilding, not leaf.

I like more Tally Ho out there - but I'm missing the more traditional faces as well as some of the classic back designs.  Most people don't even realize the numerous different TH backs that were made over the years - they see Circle Back and Fan Back and think that's the end of it.
Jackson, from the Scarlett thread on PCF:
"USPCC did all of the gilding for this deck, UUSI does every single one of there decks by hand and also with 24 Karat Gold. Not that USPCC did a poor job on the Scarletts, but the quality bar is always much higher with handwork and also top shelf materials... and also price. If I gilded my cards by hand and with 24 Karat Gold I would also charge UUSI prices for gilded decks...

FYI I will have hand gilded decks with 24 Gold leaf for Legal Tendar ;)"

I think JR had changed the tuck for the display deck. I checked the display deck tuck and couldn't see any printing of "Display Deck"
Thank you
The big change on the Emerald display tuck from the Scarlett is that the Emerald has Tally-Ho branding where the previous deck said Scarlett.

I came very close to not backing when I saw that price tag.  In the end, I chose two Limiteds and two Displays.  $20 a pack for the limited is HIGH.  Yes, he's only making 700 of those, but in all variations, there will probably be about 2,000 decks made and every single box contains the exact same cards.
Here's a couple more ways to look at these decks. First, somehow Jackson got USPCC to make gild a fairly small number of decks, and is probably paying a lot for those, and reselling them for a reasonable amount. At least compared to Uusi's gilded decks.

Second, the limited deck is $20 because of the tuck, not the cards. Honestly, the Scarlett has the most gorgeous tuck I've seen, and I'm sure it cost a bunch.

Third, backing for either the gilded or limited decks is the ticket that lets you buy a lot of display decks at $7 a pop, or $70 for a brick, which is very, very reasonable.

I think this is a great formula for both collectors and folks who actually want to play with the decks, and I hope there's more Tally Ho campaigns coming sometime down the road.

Looks like Michael Scott is thinking about creating a restoration of the Murphy's Varnish deck:

At the risk of sounding negative, I don't appreciate getting email spammed about the coin when I'm not a backer of this campaign.

I think I only sent out one email to people on my newsletter about the coins? ::)
Huh, I must have signed-up for your newsletter and completely forgot about it. Sorry about that.

I just realized that the gilded version is slightly shorter than the non-gilded version. Does anyone know why?

I opened a Gold deck this morning to play solitaire.

The tucks are absolutely gorgeous -- at least +10 glamour spell. The cards themselves are stunning when the light shines on them. To be honest, the gilding isn't as nice as Uusi gold gilded decks -- I don't like the abbreviated corners. But man, for the price, they are 100% great. That's the KS price of course, not the eBay price!

I'm thinking of bringing a Gold or Legacy deck for the auction at this year's 52+J convention -- unless Jackson has similar plans of course!

She's sweet. I saw one of her decks at the convention last year. I got back home and found her site to order a deck, but had a bit of trouble checking out. She emailed me telling me my order didn't go through, which led to a nice exchange about her work and playing cards. When I got my order she had included some nice extras.

I pledged for the gilded set as well. It will be interesting to see if Chris can actually pull it off, as from all accounts its a hell of a lot specialized handiwork, and Palladium is a bit unusual as well. This could be Chris' gilded cage...

I pledged from another account for just the poker decks to be sure of getting them mid-year.

Well the art is interesting, but there are so many warning signs...how can set the goal w/o specifying who will be printing the deck?
And when asked, he responds by updating the FAQ to say...nothing...then updates it again to mention LPCC an EPCC.
There must have been hours of planning that went into this campaign.

There's nothing to stop him from doing both a new US set and an International one, although maybe not all at one time!
I'm a big fan of European currency, mostly U.K notes but also the old French francs and others, so that could be very, very cool.

I'm glad he spent the last year exploring other themes, but also glad he's getting back to that which put him on the map.

Not all rough and gritty styles are necessarily stained or weathered. This was a specific choice combining two of my favorite art styles. It is a mixture of both Japanese watercolor, hand lettered Japanese typography and one of my favorite oil painters Richard Schmid. I also was very inspired by the Japanese conceptual art of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Oh and there will be old and historic elements as well.

I agree that MGS is fantastic, but isn't the artist Ashley Wood, who's Australian? :)
I love all of his work. Not to digress, but the absolute best Japanese artist is Yoshitaka Amano.

Bama, I think you might have made an error.  He's not claiming that Schmid is the artist of the Metal Gear Solid conceptual art.

For me, it's simply a matter of wait and see.  I like much of what I'm seeing thus far and find it to be a welcome departure from the style of your previous work, Jackson.
I often make mistakes.
But in this case my point is that MGS was not drawn by a Japanese artist, so its not really Japanese conceptual art.
I was being nitpicky, my bad.
MGS is great. Schmid is great.
I'm sure this deck will be great.
Can't wait to see the pip cards.

Congratulations!

Remember, you can spend you money on wine, woman and playing cards OR you can see it go to waste.

It's solely an artistic/creative decision. I wanted to switch rendering styles this time around to avoid the deck feeling like version 1.1 kind of thing or the deck feeling repetitive. I've seen sometimes how repetition of rendering style can get boring sometimes and I really wanted to avoid that.

EPCC did a great job printing things for Hive 1 and honestly, the textures and gradients came out amazingly. I'm surprise at how well it came out. I'd definitely love to create another deck in that style again in the future.
I agree that EPCC did a wonderful job. Could USPCC have done as well?

The original Hive deck reminds me of Maurice Sendak's art. At first I thought the cards were hand drawn and colored until I realized the pips were uniform.

I pulled out the blue Hive deck to show my in-laws a week ago, and my high-school age nephew-in-law's eye were glued to the face cards. That deck did not make it back home with me.

Anyways, while I'm sure that Hive 2 will be fantastic, I'm looking forward to a different theme with the textures and gradient. Maybe something inspired by Grimm's fairy tales?

I bet's its just a typo. I think c571121 is a business person,not at all shady.

I see elsewhere that you're looking for some original Blue Blood decks.
I think c571121 has some a couple for $99. In November I think he offered them for $80, so if you're willing to pay that much you might send him a message (at the time I offered him less and he declined).
He's pretty good at combing shipping.

I actually bought a deck for $50 on eBay in December -- I will buy as many as I can at that price.
I have a half-dozen of them, all bought on eBay in the last year.
I think that these will only increase in price over time, as they should as it is a fantastic deck.

Sorry for wandering off-topic. I didn't want to comment on your ISO post as I wish you luck finding a deck.
