Hello to the 52 plus Joker community.
I am finally ready to share my prelaunch page with anyone interested in joining me on the journey of creating the Sardines deck...

LAUNCH DATE: 10th November 18:00pm GMT

These cards will be printed using the new VIPER FINISH at Legends Playing Card Company. The tuck box will use a pearlescent tuck stock and interior tuck printing. The card backs will have a foil area where the Sardine tin is peeled back as if to reveal the metal inside. The tuck will have a custom seal.

I've had a lot of fun playing with the prototypes for these cards and I am looking forward to seeing the real thing. I think the card fan will be really fun to play with as the sardines are revealed along the edge of the cards.

Design & Development / Re: design tablet recommendations?

I recently traded my wacom cintiq 13 for the ipad pro 12.9 with apple pencil 2.

I honestly can tell you how much better it is, the portability, the haptic feedback, the control. I love it and it has reignited my love of digital drawing. I 100% recommend, although it is smaller then pad used by most playing card designers it is a great one to draw anytime andy place.

Sharing my initial concept idea for "SARDINES (In Tomato Sauce)
I really love the cross over of Victorian meets Scandinavian designs on tinned fish. I think this will be a very fun project I can imagine the court designs as classic courts with fish faces and scales worked into their robes...
Perhaps a mischievous otter in a top hat and tails for the joker.

Still a rough concept but I like the style and colour so far. Any thoughts?

Aces:
Spades: "Those that sold shovels" many struck it rich buying and selling the shovels and pickaxes during the gold rush rather than mining for Gold itself. There is also wheat in the design to represent the great wasted crop that was abandoned on John Sutter's land when his workers heard of the nearby treasure.
Hearts: "The hooker with the heart of gold" a tribute to Rosa May, courtesan who nursed sick men back to health during the gold rush but in spite of her kindness was buried outside the local cemetery for her sins.
Diamonds: "The richest vein of paydirt" Prospectors would search for the gold-bearing vein.
Clubs: "The flood of 49ers" Those who travelled to find gold in 1849

Here is a new ArtDeck,
I have been putting this idea together after I took a road trip heading from Death Valley North on the 395 to Lake Tahoe and then across to Yosemite and San Francisco and was charmed by the abandoned Ghost Towns littered throughout the state. The story that began at Sutter Creek to me seems pretty bleak and serves as a tremendous cautionary tale. My deck is a dedication to the hopeless 49ers who travelled to California in search of riches.

I have not yet thought deeply regarding the colour of the deck and have so far worked it in black and white. until I have completed the illustrations. I thought it would be a good time to share the designs for feedback.

The subtitle Digital Petroglyphs -

petroglyphs are rock carvings, I used Polynesian rock carvings as the theme but with the modern sherbert twist. The court faces can be likened to the Easter Island sculptures. The joker is also a take on piece of Polynesian/oceanic art.

Hi everyone.
Here are the plans for my next deck for 2015. I created the fishing for compliments deck last year which is now in production.

PLEASE NOTE: I am currently working on some varied court cards so they will not all be repeated I just wanted to share progress thus far.... I will have some one eyed jacks a suicide king and also different weapons in the final design....
Any comments are welcome for my new deck. SHERBERT

Less than £800 to go and 3 days remaining. For the love of cod, this is not the time or the plaice to get tight fishted. Even if your not going to use them, buy them for the halibut, because they will leaving you breaming from ear-to-ear. Mullet over
