Interesting.

Is that why Aladdin was originally only distributed in Singapore?

Also, does that mean they protect better against sweaty palms?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi guys,

As I'm sure you are aware, Alladin and Avaitor playing cards are advertised as having a 'smooth finish'. While I understand that this means they don't have the dimples like bikes or other USPCC cards, does this mean they handle differently?

Are they better of worse, or is it a matter of opinion?

Thanks for your help,

Alex

Hi Guys,

I saw the instagram post too, but its been nearly a month since he put that up and still hasn't released them.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a reason for this, or if DB changed his mind on the seconds of something like that.

After receiving some of the Blue edition of these cards, I'm quite keen to get my hands on some $4 versions of the black ones.

Thanks,

Hi Sixpence,

Personally, I very much dislike full bleed playing cards unless they're done very cleverly. Everyone has the potential to make great full bleed cards, but sometimes they just don't put their mind to it and often ruin a perfectly good deck. If you listen to all the advice that everyone has posted, I'm sure you'll end up with a great back design.

Good luck,

Alex

I really like this deck, especially the royalty. Any pics of the ace of spades (or the jokers) yet?

Hi Don

Could you give me some more info on the BOCOPO pcc.

I had a look on their website and to me a lot of the cards appeared to be rider backs. I'm probably misunderstanding their concept but clarification would be good.

Thanks,

Alex

Is it just me or does this deck seem reminiscent of the monarchs?

Thanks! This is exactly what I have been looking for!

Just to check, I am allowed to do whatever I want with the card faces and I won't be penalised by uspcc?

Thanks!

Thanks again Don

Now it's time for the details! Where can I find the files? Are they on the internet?

Thanks

Thanks for all the info Don!
I was referring more to the court cards and the spot cards rather than the back design. What I would want to do is make the reds darker and on the court cards use a different colour configuration to the standard one. This could be illegal, but I'm not sure.

Thanks again

Hi guys,

Everyone keeps saying that the card faces of the USPCC are in the public domain, but where?

If i chose to use the standard faces, but with a few alterations, where would I find the faces?

Thanks,

Thanks for all the info Don!

I'm not sure if this should be a part of this topic, but I'll put it here anyway:

What is a private reserve?

You always hear about Madison's private reserve or D and D's private reserve, but what does it mean? Is it something everyone should do as part of their project?

Thanks again!

I was looking through some old topics and I found one on how to make playing cards. However this was talking more about the design stage, I was wondering how to get your playing cards printed.

For those interested, the topic I was referring to can be found here: http://www.playingcardforum.com/index.php?topic=8424.0

Also, does the process differ depending on what printer you use (as is LPCC or USPCC)?

Thanks,

Whoops! There I go making more vocabulary mistakes!

I was referring to the four INDICES as a bad thing; having four makes it difficult to do a blank deck trick without an actual blank deck. However, I do think that there are some features that the international standard could use: I find the court cards quite ugly (the USPCC ones), especially the ones with blue borders.

Thanks again!

I can't speak for different countries overseas, but here in Europe, there aren't really common brands like bicycle in the US. So I never had any problems performing here with different decks. I use bicycle decks regulary although the only persons who use them here in Germany are magicians ;) But I never had any problems with someone suspecting a deck. As long as you are consistent with the decks you use and don't use different backs for a packet trick for example,  you should be fine. Unfortunately I have no insight how it is in the US. As  a bicycle deck seems to be in every house.  @DonBoyer: I never payed attention to that fact, but it really seems to convince the audience if the deck has standard faces. although standard poker faces weren't standard here in Europe. Just during the last 10 to 15 years with the poker hype, the american cards become famous. we usually use the french faces for playing cards and we also have country specific cards in some regions (south of Germany or spain for example).

Adding to that, English standard faces have four pips

For me, at least, I am much more likely to back a project with a video. Maybe do some magic or cardistry or set up a kind of casino scene just to showcase the cards. Also, make sure the video (if you chose to make one) is good quality; there is nothing more annoying than watching a bad video with 'crackly' sound. You could also get a video of the factory, but probably not the one from their website.

Good luck!
