I am a designer and cards collector.
I know the forum from google search, below are the reasons I am here.

  • Communicate and learn, apply to our new projects.
  • Introduce our new project to everyone.
  • It is not very important to see if there is an opportunity to cooperate with your projects. Haha.. :)

I've been told that there are places around Las Vegas where a person with patience, time and a sharp eye can pick up some vintage casino decks - flea markets and the like.

Thanks Don, hope I could find the "Atlantis"  :)

The only one idea cames to me. As this deck is wrapped in individual transparent cello, it might be a part of a 2-decks gift set. Similar sets were in use at that days in Vegas casinos, including Silver Slipper (their set had blue and green cards) and MGM Grand (brown and gold cards). All these cards were individually wrapped in cello and had a common paper box for 2 decks (sample photo attached).

Hey iDoctor, maybe you might want to check on your attached files? It seems to no work for me. Yup I too think that the borderless green GN is from a 2-decks gift set as I have quite a couple of casino gift sets myself. Namely the MGM, Sahara (3rd ed?), Frontiers (4 boxes of One way back, still finding the Two way back design) and Dunes.

I am definitely interested in looking at what's inside the purp Carson City Nugget deck. Please try to re-upload the photos again  ;)

And also its been my pleasure too to know vintage casino cards collectors like you because comparing vintage card collectors and modern cards collectors, vintage collectors are really little.

Cheers,
sliverboi

Hi, Silverboi
It's done (I've reduced photo file sizes), hope everithing is Ok now. I've also sent you photo via mail to be sure.
Yours, iDoctor

P.S. I've found one purple GN sold on eBay in 2012 ($649). Photo attached.

In 2012, is my second year just collect the Vegas Cards.
I saw this purple GN on ebay. However, my friends and some great great collector from Taiwan said that they are sure is there any purple GN in GN series. They said the purple GN may be a blue GN place under sunlight for a long long time.
So I miss that in 2012, I was so depressed until now.
I'm never seen sealed purple GN from 2012, hope I could get one before leave this world. :-[

I don't think there are many vintage Vegas cards collectors .. The story of these cards is not well known and nowadays many people prefer collecting newer cards mostly because it's less expensive and we can buy more and play with them  :)

I have 2nd generation brown and red hotel and casino, what would be interesting is a list of all decks you have with the code of the ace of spades .. to be able to feed the survey i could give you an access ..

Send me a PM and we'll be able to study that ..

About the purple Carson City i have only seen it once but i never really studied these cards.

sorry for bring up this post again, but I can't any updated post to discuss Vegas Casino cards.

There is an old thread on PCF (http://www.playingcardforum.com/index.php?topic=1959.msg35823#msg35823) that mentions that there are Aristocrat back designs other than the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, but I've never seen one or been able to find any images, until now.  Just picked up an Aristocrat Allover No. 7 deck c.1944 (see pics).  So I guess there are backs No. 4, No. 5 and No.6, maybe more.  Does anyone have any of those decks or info about the Nos. 4+ Aristocrat backs?  If so, please post.  Love to see the mystery deck backs.

I've only got No.1 2 3.
First time that I saw this No.7. I wanna know is there any No.4 5 6 in this world

Those wooden playing card boxes are amazing.
Are they suitable for Bridge size card only?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks!  I actually started collecting the boxes before I started collecting Kem cards.  I had originally just intended to have a handful of 100% plastic cards to go with the room and I found the cool boxes.  That blew up to around 50 boxes and led into the Kem collection.

The ones from Poland and Italy are almost always large enough to hold Bridge and Poker sized cards.  There are three main styles.

This is what I call them, so here are the three main style.
1.  Flat Top - these are like a standard set box.  Two decks are cards laying flat side by side.
2.  Top Loader - these are like the old Kem cases.  Two decks on their side.
3.  Double-Decker - think of the Double Decker buses - Two decks laying flat on top of each other.

There are a few more vintage styles.  There are some from Japan that are like the Top Loader and Double-Decker, but they have little drawers with handles you can pull out.  Also a few Top Loaders where the top is more like a sleeve of wood that comes completely on and off.

I'd say about 95% of the ones I have can hold bridge and poker sized cards.  Most of my collection is bridge sized.  After a lot of these pictures were made, I put all the cards in clear plastic bridge-sized 54 card cases and those cases fit in the box, so I know poker sized cards would.

Bonus picture of my lammer box.

They are awesome, and I'll focus on them on ebay soon.

2.  AMEX Clamshell
3.  Tall Ships Clamshell
4.  Gamecocks Clamshell

The last two pictures are just of the card collection portion of the poker room (most of it anyway).
