The Rounders actually do have a slightly altered JoD. The name of Daniel Madison's young child is hidden in the clothing near the face. He uses the traditional Jack face to represent the child since there's no way to predict future appearance.
For me, it's these:
Fund Michael Frömmer's 1616 Silver Bicycle® Playing Cards
The Mirror Deck Gaffed Playing Cards
Asylum Playing Cards
ULTRAVIOLET // Playing cards from beta17
Haven't checked on the project for quite a while.. but I actually received my cards at least a month ago or so. But yeah, I haven't received Asylum, Ultraviolet and Quicksilver, though I am more optimistic about the Quicksilver cards than the others
+1, the back design looks phenomenal, very aesthetically pleasing. But I'm thinking the courts will be of a standard nature.
Really weird name, but the back design is quite awesome. Based on other Blaine decks, I would be confident in saying the faces will be very standard. Still, I'll have to get a couple.
In other news check out rehandcrafted.com. There are a few awesome custom clips there. You can also choose to put leather on Jamie d grants's vault. Thinking of getting one myself or even asking Ryan(owner of rehandcrafted) to do a chameleon skin one. Just don't know if a chameleon would be big enough for a porper
Ah well that's a shame. I think the Clip Joints were barely okay because of the backs. The Casinos were only cool cause the you can pick out an ace just by looking at the back design. The Chinatowns were just terrible in color. I don't have high hopes for this new Fulton deck.
The Clip Joint back design is very nicely done. The single pip design was tastefully elegant. I like that the ace pip sizes are NOT flamboyantly too large or as large as the AoS. Many companies are trying to replicate that single custom pip idea. None have done it better.
I remember seeing it somewhere on this forum. But I went back to its original thread and couldn't find it. Maybe see_squared can share it with us as I didn't receive the email that was sent that contained a teaser of the backs.
EDIT: here it is. And the AoS as well http://aethercards.com/discourse/playing-card-plethora/hmnim-playing-cards/
This deck made me chuckle and in my book, it deserves a shot. I don't really like it very much but these memes just always get me.
Meme-based decks have had a terrible track record so far on KS. I can't recall one that succeeded. They're just too topical - the kind of thing that's a little funny now but just looks stupid after a while.
How many has he released in the past years? I thought he's been pretty consistent with that. Didn't he release half that amount earlier this year?
Half what amount? We don't know how many he's releasing yet. His last sale was for a gross, right?
The sale for 2012 - I think that one sale that year was canceled because of the strain it was putting on the servers; too many buyers couldn't get through and only a small number of the total decks were sold. It's why he changed the system this year.
Never in my life have I seen anyone playing cards on their first date. If I ever did this while I was single, it would have been my first AND last date. Anyone nervous enough on a first date that they'd need to resort to these would probably also be too nervous to play cards without looking like an idiot.
There is a decent novelty factor to this, but it's better as a fourth- or fifth-date activity at best, and only if your date enjoys playing cards. And those questions? Yikes. Any questions worth asking, you should have at the tip of your tongue on the first date, not printed on a playing card that you read. The main thing this project has in its favor is that he's using a cheap printer with a low minimum, 'cause there's no other way he'd be producing and delivering a deck for a mere $1,000.
