A hand-drawn deck of playing cards that comes with decoder glasses and doubles as a puzzle experience that plays in 60-90 minutes. Launching May 31 on Kickstarter.

Some more info:
The newest Red Fox Playing Cards Puzzle Deck will be printed by USPCC on our favorite air cushioned stock and fulfilled by Red Fox Playing Cards. This is a seemingly innocent deck of playing cards that can be used for collecting, magic or card games. At first glance the symmetric back design transforms into a one-way design when viewed with our unique to Red Fox Playing cards decoder glasses that come with every deck. Once the glasses are on, you will be transported into another world where you can enjoy an experience of solving a series of four puzzles using many cards in the deck that lead to an ultimate crescendo. This one-time experience will guide you to finding a secret treasure and is designed to last 60-90 minutes. Our fourth deck on our third Kickstarter, but first to be designed as a puzzle deck in addition to a completely usable unmarked deck. Full of even more secrets than ever before, this deck has features and subtleties that ties it to our brand yet is unique in its own ways and brings color and fun to your next card game night, collectors cabinet, and yes, even puzzle night! Have a puzzle night with friends to solve the clues using almost the entire deck and still end up with a fully usable deck of cards. Since the last release in November 2020, we, Kelly and Ricki ten Hove have been hard at work brainstorming, planning, and many hours of artwork and play testing. We have worked hard over the last year and a half to bring you this hand drawn from scratch deck, with new pips, new suits and everything in-between, deck of cards. We present to you our latest Red Fox Playing Cards - Enchantment.

Great Article! Thanks for putting the time and effort into putting this all together. I wish I would have seen this article before I ran my first Kickstarter as it would have saved me some time in my research. This is a great resource for those wanting to create their own deck.

Hey everyone! I got a huge response from my first campaign. As a husband/wife team in Canada with no prior experience our first Kickstarter funded in less than 12 hours! I'm expecting our V2.0 deck that has been received very well to do even better! If you want to check it out, it's live on Kickstarter September 22, 2020 at 13:00CST. If you want to get notified and follow along for the ride, just click the button on the pre-launch page to get notified.

Makes sense Don! Thanks for the heads up and grammer check!  :D

Update for those that are following along. Kickstarter was a huge success, raising more than 3x the goal and funding within the first 12 hours. Quite pumped as it was my first project and not very well known about. Currently I have a pre-order store accessible from my website, with the cards hopefully arriving end of February 2020. Murphy's magic has also picked them up and they will be available from magic stores that deal with them.

Thanks everyone that helped out, and feel free to pick up a deck :)

Funded in less than 12 hours!

-100% Hand Drawn Cards
-100+ Hours of artwork alone
-Absolutely Beautiful back design
-Custom card faces and courts with intricate details
-Ambigram Logo(reads "Red Fox" even when upside down)
-A never before done marking system!  Every deck comes with custom red decoder glasses to learn the markings. Like training wheels they are no longer needed once you know where to look, you simply read it with the naked eye. We have field tested these and even when told, people cannot find the markings. After they view it with the glasses, it's like a Eurika moment and they are reading them in no time without the glasses.
-A never before done tuck case that can be used to create a 9-tuck puzzle that creates a unique picture
-Wonderful review by Richard Bellars: Penn and Teller FOOLER

Even if you don't support, you HAVE TO CHECK IT OUT! Watch the promo video though and let me know what you think!

Red Fox reveal glasses! These are used to help learn the marking system, as well as see other hidden secrets on the tuck, the back and a few other cards. Almost all the foxes are either opening or closing their eyes, or peeking or winking when viewed through the red filter. I'm planning on including one pair of these with every deck. And also, it's still a work in progress but the website for Red fox playing cards is up! You can see more photos and learn more about the deck there. If you want to check out the website, just read it off the Red Fox reveal glasses design.  ;)

Glasses art is hand drawn, keeping with our %100 hand drawn theme. What do you guys think?

Playing Card Plethora / Re: card borders and new designs?
« on: August 12, 2019, 10:39:55 PM »
My two cents as a magician, I would only ever buy a card deck with white borders. That said, there are probably a lot of guys that are into cardistry that wouldn't mind either way, but maybe even prefer border-less for nice card fans.

13
Thanks! I've been thinking about a poker chip with maybe a sleeping fox on one side and then the ambigram logo on the other. I'll have to rack my brain and see what other add on's everyone else has. Definitely good to start thinking about before the campaign.

Here's the tuck box design. I've seen people design a wrap around tuck so that you can place three tuck boxes together (middle one sideways) so that it completes a picture. This goes a step further by having the sides match up when upside down. Maybe I'm confusing you by trying to explain, but basically you can line up 7 decks with every second deck sideways for one long 7-deck picture all connected.

I'm having a tough time visualizing that - you should simply post a picture of seven tucks arranged how you'd need to arrange them to make the image you mention.

Posted a picture above!

15
Here's few of the back with hopefully more true colors.

16
I think it actually looks better with 9 instead of 7. Notice how the bottom is one continuous unique picture with both a running and a sleeping fox. If I had 24 decks I could bend them into a circle, put it on a lazy susan and it would be a continuous sleeping fox, running fox etc.

17
I will definitely do that Don. At the moment I don't know how to do that until I get the prototype decks. I'm just wrapping up the design phase. Hopefully before the end of summer I'll post some updates with some pictures of the tucks as well as the cards.

Thanks for your feedback!

With the colors of the suits, I do realize that the pictures on this site are not quite true, they seem brightened or washed out a bit - not sure why all the pictures look a little green and espicially the clubs/spades look lighter and more light green. The actual color of the spades and clubs will be a rich purple with blue which is our replacement for black. I'm ordering the pre-prototype to see how all the colors look so I'll get a good feel before the final order and take your comments into account.

I totally agree that some will think the back is busy. I'm glad you like it! I'm excited about it and it does have a dual purpose of hiding the markings as well. A bit hard to depict on the forum, but hopefully I'll be able to better show it on the website once it's up and on Kickstarter.

Feel free to follow on instagram @redfoxplayingcards   (Still trying to figure out marketing prior to the Kickstarter so you can also DM your e-mail and I'll be sending a message out once the Kickstarter gets going later this year.)

This card back is a moving GIF

Aaaand here's the back of the cards. This card is not marked but the deck will be a marked deck with very hidden markings. The markings will really pop when looked at through a red filter. Once you know where they are you will no longer need the filter. Every aspect is hand drawn including a tuck box that I'm super excited about. Tons of hidden secrets. King of Clubs is Chris Ramsay. I'm the King of hearts and my wife is the queen of hearts. Jack of clubs is a shout out to my 6-year old and the queen of clubs is for my 4-year old. You'll see lots of little details in the courts that are either a shout out to someone or tied into the back design. One of my favorites is the hot dog on the jack of clubs for my son lol.

I have never done anything like this before. I am a pilot by trade and magic tricks especially card magic is one of my hobbies. Decided to make my own deck years ago and finally had a breakthrough. My wife is in charge of artwork. We are both learning as we go, Photoshop, file types, social media, card printing/printers etc. Any advice about the design or marketing etc. is greatly appreciated and welcome. Planning a Kickstarter before the end of the year that comes with a free magic trick book I'm making and really want to see this deck of cards get off the ground. I'll be creating a website with more details, our story, the redfoxplayingcards story and news on the Kickstarter.

You can follow along at "redfoxplayingcards" on Instagram and Facebook.

Let me know what you think!
I should mention it will be a marked deck of cards, but none of the markings are depicted here.

EDIT: Uploaded the pictures again in PNG so should be better color representation.

Feedback + Support / Embedded photos

Sorry for my naïvety. I've done a google search and get many different results. How does one go about embedding photos in their post? I see the insert image:  . The photos I want to share are on my computer so not sure what to put between. I see the "attach" below the post but not sure how to get them within the text of my post. Thanks for your help.

Magical Cardistry Bonanza / Computer generated flourishes
« on: May 22, 2019, 09:01:41 PM »
Hello everyone. I love great fans and flourishes and appreciate the hard work that goes into learning the art. I'm an amateur magician myself and have learned a bit of the craft. I'm designing a deck of cards and browsing Kickstarter have run across a few examples where there is computer generated card flourishes, such as full 360 degree fans etc. Has anyone used or know of a program that can achieve this? I'd be interested to get my hands on such a program for when i run my Kickstarter campaign. Thanks!

I don't really have any constructive criticism for you. I'm sure people can look at it and say tweak this tweak that, but you have solid design. Good Job.
