Playing Card Plethora / Re: The Luxury and Innovation of Foil Playing Cards

Thank you for the well-researched article!  It's been an interesting area of development recently and I never really dove into it to get my facts straight.

Do you have any idea into which category USPCC's Metalluxe application falls, or a different category altogether?  Presumably it's cold foil or else we'd have the deformations on the cards that you speak of.

Gold Monarchs are my absolute favorite, the shiny gold Metalluxe against black ink.... oh it gets me every time.

Cheers,
George

Hi Dave!

I'm glad you mention the error Expert decks.  I've seen different listings mention that they are the error decks, or sell a two-deck set of the Errored and Correct decks.  Could you go into specifics about what the error was?  The listings never elaborate.

Thanks (and welcome to the forums!),
George

I'm sticking with decks that I really like

"Buy what you like" is a great ideology.  I practice it myself.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: NEW DECK- Bicycle "mystery" Deck

I think I should clarify this to some people. It's the "All Wheel" back, on Mrs. Robinson's Handbook, it's listed as design #2. Please do not mistaken it as All-Wheel No.2, as many other designs do indeed have a second variation, for example Lantern, Model, Racer, Sprocket, Tangent, Wheel, etc.

I looked at that again, and you're right Zero.  I mistook her number for the variation of the back design.  Alexander Sukhorukov's site (which I also referenced) made the same mistake that I did.  Oops!  http://a.trionfi.eu/WWPCM/decks06/d04331/d04331box808.htm

That said, the tuck box of my deck does call them out as "All Wheel Back No. 2".  My mistake will make for yet another footnote in the long history of Bicycle designs/names/numbers.

Thanks for the clarification,
George

I really hope there will be a cool AoS and jokers on this one. I believe part of the reason why the BBG deck was a failure was because, except for the back and box, EVERYTHING was from standard bikes. If these aren't custom, that probably explains why only 2500 would be printed.

Hi Nathan (and others!),
Just wanted to confirm -- it is the All Wheel #2 back -- What sharp eyes you have!

I'm releasing these decks in a couple weeks.  Max is helping me out by getting the info out there while I put the finishing touches on my site.

The All Wheel decks will feature the standard Poker 808 Ace of Spades, faces, and jokers.   They'll come with a blank face and a double-back gaff.

It's good to hear your feedback about further customization.  These guys are already printed, but it will definitely be taken to heart in any future decks I do.

I'd like to think that the Big Gun decks flopped due to the obscene pricing model set up around them.  IIRC, the set began at $50 for a set of 2 decks, and was then lowered down in steps until it eventually reached $20 for the set, and then the rest were dumped in the bargin-bin for $1.

Another thing that you failed to account for is that the flat-rate Priority Mail boxes may be "if it fits, it ships, up to 70 pounds" in the US, but the weight restrictions are much lower on Priority Mail International.  I think even if the whole collection did fit in only two large boxes, we'd blow the weight limits right out of the water.

You're right about the lower international limit, most international shipping I've done with these boxes is limited to 20 pounds.  Fortunately, if you're just mailing playing cards that's just about the weight of a full box.   Unfortunately, Alex mentioned there were other items as well that might take up more space and require additional boxes.

If you're cash strapped but have extra decks laying around, you can still help with the shipping funds.  Alex bought some decks from me the other week, and this weekend I sent his payment back to him as a shipping donation.  Thanks for the contribution Alex ;)

Ahh, I forgot about insurance.  On $1000+ of decks, I see how that'd add up quickly.

Best,
George

I don't know what shipping option the $250 quote was for.  But if the $250 target is too high, I'd like to suggest the the USPS flat rate large box.  It can hold about 70 decks and it ships anywhere in the world for $61.  Two of those boxes should cover the 120 decks for Carlo, and come in at under $125.

Also, a big thank you Alex for organizing this effort!

Don't you guys operate this site?
http://arethereanyuv500decksleft.com/
Is the info here accurate?

I run that site -- it's not affiliate with Ellusionist.

The list of decks that have the UV500 stock was taken from one of their blog posts.  If you play around with their cart, you can try entering large numbers and see how many more of each decks are in stock.  The actual inventory numbers on the site may be a few hours old at any given time, so don't trust them 100%.
