This series was focused on creating an interactive discovery for the collector. It is based around the themes of discovery and does so through utilizing lighting and space never before seen in the card world. Throughout the decks there are different rooms to be discovered to make each collector's journey unique and individualistic as they are.

Hand gilded decks boxed with inspiration that you can literally touch. Launched today.

I remade the Kickstarter video so that you can actually see the gilding and ink in action. Hope you enjoy!

We're live guys! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2062783196/apothecary-playing-cards-inspiration-you-can-touch/description

I did a lot of experimenting with this one from the art to the tier structure and the marketing. I hope you guys enjoy it!

If you have any questions, I'll be available in person at the 52+ Joker convention this week.  ;D

The Apothecary release is the newest line from Seasons and is set to launch on October 17th, National Playing Card Collection Day.
This one had a lot of delays but it's finally happening in less than a week!  :D

Back Design

Behind the scenes look of the vector work that takes place behind each card.

I'm pretty excited for this launch because it has an added level of engagement that you don't see in the everyday campaign. You can check out an exclusive sneak peek before the campaign here: www.ApothecaryTales.com
The secret password is "TellMeAStory".

I hope to see you guys at launch! To make it easier for time zones I made another Facebook event page which will notify you directly an hour before it starts. https://www.facebook.com/events/174603119654834/

Thanks Rob!

Here's a picture of the Rebels Deck.

I've reformatted the court cards a bit to be friendlier to magicians. I think it balances the cards out nicely!

Here's a Facebook event link to help clarify the time zone confusions from last time. This way Facebook can tell you how many hours it will be until launch.

If you missed the Kickstarter there's an easy way to still pre-order the Verana and Inverno decks before they go full retail. Free shipping to US too! https://seasons.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Woohoo! Totally worth it to wake up at 5am for the launch... Managed to get in for the "lucky" KS2 tier! Thanks Alex!

Aldazar,

Luck is "preparation meets opportunity" :D

Never a problem. I'm true to my word.

Don't worry guys. After the initial responses I've been hearing, I will definitely be doing standard pip orientation lol.

@ IAmTheChin
Your original pips were classic.

@Card Player
1) I loved the idea of keeping the pips the same for consistency but I felt a large pressure from the current decks on the market to upgrade the pips and add the background flourishes. I almost even eliminated the color red from Winter but just couldn't bring myself to do it.  Are you saying that you would much rather prefer the old pips as they were?

2) The red-gold accent is an interesting idea  that I actually tried out before (along with green) but had very little luck with. The red was a bit overwhelming on the court cards The voted color schemes were:
Winter: Black/Silver/Blue
Summer: White/Gold/Red

When I had a tinted red gold it was a bit too much. When I tried a green instead of gold it looked too tacky. It would be neat if they didn't double up on the first editions but the voted color schemes just made so much sense and they just look so darn good :)

Looking for last minute opinions (and why)!

This is something that I absolutely love about the set but it is something that I feel people might have strong feelings about. The Seasons set is about emphasizing the change in design that this deck goes through over time, from the colors to the designs. I decided that it would make most sense if the winter deck expressed true duality with the summer set by being the only deck in the series with a reverse pip orientation.

I just wanted to see if this is something that would really turn you on/off. It makes so much sense to me to have the pips this way but if this is too much change I can always bring it back. Trying to gauge people's thoughts on this. Thanks again!

Any update on the timing (as in time of day) of the KS launch for this project?

Edited as I realized it's next week, not this week...=P

It's set for 4pm CST.

@ IAmTheChin:

I think the face cards are going to make or break this project for me.

I'm going to post pictures later today of the court cards. I'd love to hear your opinions on it.

18
Here are some more comprehensive shots of Verana. These summer decks will compliment the winter with a gold accent. These decks are made to emphasize the transitioning nature of the Seasons so it was important to keep our iconic box design. This way they are able to work with Primavera and Seronda as well.

19
Curious how the results of the survey turned out!

PS: Cool of you to take the survey in the first place...=)

After looking over the feedback that everyone participated in I took some time to modify and upgrade the decks.

Verana (Summer) will have a metallic gold accent on a white deck while Inverno (Winter) will have a metallic silver/blue accent on a black deck.

Also if you like Seasons it would be super duper cool if you could nominate me :) It takes about a minute to do. http://playingcardawards.com/nominations/

I closed out the survey. Thanks again guys. I got a lot of valuable feedback from it and applied it to the deck. The color schemes finally figured themselves out in a way that I think everyone will agree works and enjoys. Stay tuned for more pictures and updates as the KS date comes closer.

21
So this isn't the most glamorous link in the world but it will be the most efficient way to see people's thoughts on the upcoming set. I'm hoping by collecting this data it will better help me cater the final launch to what people are anticipating.

It takes about 2 minutes to complete.

Thanks for your support. Looking forward to your feedback!

Sexy!

Have you decided on a manufacture yet?

USPCC Loyalty or Legends Pioneer?

It will be a slightly more expensive production to go with USPCC in comparison to EPCC but its necessary to maintain the texture and consistency through the series. I wanted to make sure that those that currently own the first series will be happy to have the sets match.

23
I'm glad that you guys are interested in the decks! I've decided to pull the trigger over the nervousness and set a date for August 25th to launch the KS. Here is a preview of what the Inverno back will look like:

I've been on Seasons decks since the beginning. Looking forward to these for sure.

I find it coincidental, the timing of Alex's announcement and the Dan and Dave Variety Box. Wondering if these are already printed and If one is being slipped into the New Variety Box? Alex has come back to the forum after a long absence and posted on some threads that are at this point unrelated to the seasons deck. Dan and Dave variety being one of them.

Unfortunately these are not already printed yet. There is no relation to this and the Variety Box. I am looking to do a Kickstarter at the moment and look forward to your support! I will be sure to post some more pictures soon.

It would make an excellent limited-edition release.  If there's one thing that some collectors go nuts for, it's limited editions.  But that will work only if the "barrier to entry" isn't as high - either offer the boxes flat and empty as an add-on, or consider the new half-brick boxes - check out the Ornate White decks and you'll see what I mean about the half-bricks.
[/quote]

Hey Don, do you think you could post a picture or link me to one of these half-bricks? I can't seem to find a picture on the KS unless I'm just blatantly missing it?
