Conjuring Arts is releasing the latest Legends on Wednesday at 1pm.
Lawrence Sullivan and Mark Stutzman have created a beautiful new series of 3 decks called Egyptian Legends.
The series consists of a Blue/Silver (metallic), Black/Gold (metallic) and Red backs. The faces also have metallic ink in their design.
The tucks for the Egyptians are really outstanding and include a die cut showing off part of the back design, gold foiling on the exterior and the entire interior and also 3D embossing that is really amazing.

The decks will be available singly at MSRP of $8.95 plus postage.
And due to popular request Conjuring Arts is also offering the decks in a
3 pack for $26.85 postpaid in the US
6 pack for $49.95 postpaid in the US
12 pack for $89.95 postpaid in the US

Move fast, because Legends sell out fast and when these are gone we will not be getting more.

The 3 deck collection we call the Gnostic Trinity will (finally) go on sale tomorrow at 1pm EDT at conjuringarts.org.
Conjuring Arts will be the only place you can get all three decks because we commissioned the third, red deck. In addition to that we also limited the edition to 1000 and put a numbered seal on each deck.

These are great decks from Legends Playing Card Co and have some new features. The most original new feature is that the interior of the tuck is gold foil. Beyond the shear beauty of this it can also act as a shiner (for those who know what that is). We will leave it to those who purchase them to find the other major features.

Another interesting note is that the back design features two colors and very thin borders. This combination has the excellent effect of making the cards handle extremely well.

4
I'd like to confirm that Conjuring Arts will have all the colors of Gnostic, including our exclusive Red (numbered edition of 1000), available soon. We can't release them yet but I promise that we will as soon as they arrive. Presently they are in the US but being shipped to Kings Wild for fulfillment.
Pricing will be $13.75 per deck plus postage when bought individually (this is the price Legends requested us to sell them for) . All three colors as a set are $39 postpaid anywhere in the US (plus $8.99 for international). I realize that these are on the expensive side but they are really a fine deck and very few were made of each color. I believe that Conjuring Arts has the largest supply of each color and the ONLY supply of our exclusive red.
I will post here when they will go on sale but you can also check ConjuringArts.org for the latest information.
Let me know if you have any questions.

The Black Acorn Backs are still one of my all time favorites.

I like the Black Acorns too. But of the thick stock (casino grade) decks we did at USPCC I think the Smith No 2 are my favorite. It's not known but the Cambric finish of the Smith No 2 was actually printed on two different stocks. We printed about 6,000 on regular casino paper and another 6,000 on an experimental paper. There is no indication whatsoever on the tuck but if you use a black light you can see the difference in the stock. One of them also weighs quite a bit more than the other. Just a trivial bit of info.
I did all that experimentation because I really wanted (needed) very firm cards and at USPCC the thicker casino stock gave the firmest deck.
Now that we are branching out and also printing at other factories we can get cards that are both very thin and very firm. This pleases me a lot.
The Zenith deck by Paul Carpenter is the most perfect alchemy we've managed so far and they are amazing handling cards!

So my variety box came in the mail today. The box is gorgeous. Triple-packaged and looks to be in perfect condition, as with all of CARC's orders are. I've ordered from them 5+ times in the last couple of months and I've always been very happy with the speed and condition of their shipped product. However...

my stomach dropped when I saw this. The main appeal of this box for me was the JN's. Call me a sucker for buying into the hype but I've always wanted to own one and now I finally do. However, I can't claim at all that this deck is in mint condition :/ Do I have a leg to stand on here? Can I possibly get a replacement? These pictures were taken literally 30 seconds after I opened the box.

edit: every other deck is in perfect condition. If this had happened to any of the other decks I would have just chalked it up to "one of those things", but I can't help but be bitter about this.

I just saw this because I'm traveling a bit this week.
Sorry about the trouble but don't worry, we'll fix it.
We definitely selected and shipped decks with pristine cellophane but I was afraid this might happen in transit.
They often seem to break at the same point due to how the cello was applied in the first place.
As with everything we sell at CA we will completely stand behind these decks. Everyone who has received a deck with broken cellophane can return it (insured and packed well) and we will replace it with another deck of the same color with pristine cellophane.
It's tricky because this 40 year old cellophane breaks extremely easily and even bubble wrapping etc. is a bit risky.

Bottom line is, don't worry, we have your back and will make it right for everyone with any trouble.

Can't afford the whole box but I would love to get my hands on Owl Eyes (all colors).  I have both Altruism decks.

A little off topic, but I have an affinity for owls.  For the past 4 years, the same great horned owl comes to lay eggs outside my office window at work.  She usually lays eggs around Presidents' Day.  We're currently waiting for our little owlets to hatch.  Some pics from the first year that owl decided to nest outside my office:

Very cool!! Thanks for sharing that.

We will offer the three colors of Owl Eyes for sale in limited quantities, and this will most likely happen in April. They are on an interesting, more embossed and somewhat thicker stock than Exquisite.

And how many of these will actually be available? And 1pm eastern?

Great questions and sorry I didn't answer them in the first place.
There will only be 12 of each version available.
The offer starts at 1pm Eastern time.

Hi Guys,
I hope this is the correct place to post this because I want to give the users of The Discourse a heads up on a little promotion we are offering at 1pm tomorrow.

Conjuring Arts will offer a Luxury variety box of 12 great, pristine unopened decks that will include a deck of Jerry's Nugget!
In addition to this each buyer can choose one of 3 versions of the variety box. The difference is that each version contains a Pre-Release deck that hasn't been sold or even announced before today!

The three choices of pre-release decks are Version:
A ) Smith No. 3 by The Expert Playing Card Co. This is our latest and final installment of our Erdnase 1902 series. This deck has the Smith hands pattern (by Guy Hollingworth) with two casino style ovals that have M.D. Smith's signature on them. This signature was taken from a copy of Erdnase we have in our library. The Ace of spades has a rendering of Mr. Smith's face (like Willis Russel used to do) and the tuck has a die cut hole so you can see Mr. Smith while the deck is closed. These decks won't be released for at least another Month.

B) Owl Eyes by George Hage. This is a deck that we have an exclusive U.S. supply of (but not yet here, won't actually release until April) produced by our friend, cardman George Hage. It's available in 3 colors and these will be randomly chosen for each buyer of version B.

C) Sharps by Lawrence Sullivan. This great deck won't actually ever be released for sale in this form. Lawrence produced them to show off a new paper that will soon be available from Legends Playing Card Company and also from The Expert Playing Card Company. Getting variety box C might be your only chance to get a Sharps deck. It's available in 3 colors and these will be randomly chosen for each buyer of version C.

In addition to the Jerry's and a pre-release deck each brick contains:

Shooting Star (1980s casino, rare!)
Special Edition "Black Box" Skull & Bones (never sold)
Bicycle Tall Stacks (rare!)
Erdnase 1902 Red Acorn
Erdnase 1902 Green Acorn
Erdnase 1902 Blue Smith No. 2
Erdnase 1902 Red Smith
Erdnaseum
Global Titan
Pr1me No1r

We have chosen to sell the boxes at $399 which we think, although expensive, is a great value and will allow new collectors to start out with some really great and rare decks.

If you ever need help cataloguing you could round up a group from the forum and we could have a get together haha.

We actually catalogued it about 9 years ago but it's totally out of hand again!

12
Bill, what is your ballpark estimate for how many decks you have all together?

I'm afraid I don't know. Too many is the only accurate answer. If you count the decks I've saved from my production as well as the decks I've collected (en masse sometimes). I might have 25k. It sounds insane...

13
Bill, you have all the neatest toys!  :))

Microfilm cabinet?  Where does someone find one of those anymore - was the NSA having a joint garage sale with the CIA?

I happened on to that 20 years ago at an auction when Upsala College closed in Orange New Jersey. It had 40 years of the New York Times on microfilm in it! The microfilm is long gone! And just old decks of cards are in it now!

14
I've also used old microfilm cabinets with vertical drawers. I put mine on a movers dolly so that it doesn't stay in the way.

I keep my marked card collection in an old repurposed library card catalog. This one is upright (and uncommon). It makes me happy just to look at it!

I see similar units like this all the time for sale in antique stores $$$$$
Every time I see one. I think what the hell would someone use that for. DUH!
That is awesome. Judging from how many decks in the 1 drawer, looks like that would hold 800+ decks.
Are those plastic bags each deck is in? and where from? The bags look open. Any reason for that as opposed to folding over to semi-seal?

Not every drawer is full. I think the collection is closer to 500 decks of marked cards but the cabinet could hold about 22 per drawer and my set has 56 drawers.
Do you see upright ones all the time? I see the regular ones that requires the decks be laid on their sides all the time but not ones like this. Either style works though.
I do use archival bags (from https://www.bagsunlimited.com/p-3103-trading-card-set-sleeves-25mil-polyethylene.aspx) and I don't seal them with tape or anything as I hate tape anywhere near my collection. If I just tuck them down they don't stay.

I also am using repurposed old pharmacy tobacco cabinets. This one has glass doors, perfect compartments for decks and a hidden, zinc lined compartment that keeps moisture out.

16
I'd like to see that scrapbook. Want to meet for coffee?

18
Sorry about that!! When they arrive, if you love them you can stock up with us!

19
For those interested we are selling our small stock of No1r starting now. They are $7.95 per deck with a discount at 12 and above.

20
I'll ask Jen to pop a "spare" pr1me deck in for you! And thanks for having such a cool avatar photo.

bk

21
Unfortunately I don't believe that there are any red Pr1mes left. A year or so ago I think we bought the remaining stock and they are now sold out.
Next time you put an order at Conjuring Arts mention this conversation and I'll try to find a deck floating around the office and send it to you with my compliments.

bk

22
A little update. Our supply of the No1r deck arrived today and we expect to put these on sale Wednesday at 1pm.
Single decks will be $7.95 each plus postage and there will be some deals for bricks as well.

Playing Card Plethora / Re: Legends Blue and Red V2.0
« on: January 17, 2014, 07:25:38 PM »
As I noted, I got three of these, one to play with, and one of each color to hold on to.  This is my first legends deck - everything about them is excellent, but I personally had some trouble faroing them out of the box...I probably need to work on my faroing technique  Other than that - design is wonderful, handling is exceptional, perfect perfect perfect width of the borders. Love the AoS, one Joker, one blank card.  Great deck!

I'm really pleased you like them. Lawrence and I have some big things planned for this year including introducing some new finishes etc, and I think you like them.
The Legends and Exquisites general can faro easily either from top down or bottom up right out of the box. Whereas the traditionally cut USPCC decks faro bottom up and the all those other USPCC decks faro top down. For table faros most cardmen want the decks traditionally cut. The legends should work perfectly right out of the box regardless of your preference. If you want help with your technique look up some of Derek Dingle's ideas in his big book. He showed me a little finger buffer technique that gives you perfect control and makes the shuffle much easier.

I'm not sure if is your new shipping method or what, but my last 2 orders with you guys cost me over $25 each in customs fees and I NEVER pay customs fees on playing cards or magic related stuff through USPC with any other company. Can you guys please do something about that? I can't be the only customer paying these ridiculous nonsense fees!

I'm afraid there is no new shipping method, only how we charge, which is either with shipping included in the price, or shipping separated out.
We ship nearly everything via USPS (and have always done so) and we always state the actual cost of goods on the customs forms. As we are a Federally approved 501(c)3 U.S. non-profit we can't risk fudging on things like customs declarations. Any ridiculous customs you pay goes directly to your government and I'm afraid we can't influence their rules as well as you can. My only advice is to take up the "ridiculous nonsense fees" with your government representative, if you have one.

I tried buying a mixed half-brick of these beauties when I read the email, but for some reason my payment wasn't accepted. Has it got anything to do with me being from Singapore?

I'm sorry about that but for some unknown reason people in Singapore aren't allowed to paypal to a charity or non-profit in the U.S. In the future write to ricky@conjuringarts.org and tell him you are in Singapore and we can give you another paypal account you can pay to and you won't have to miss out. Also, we are praying the lost box of decks will come in the mail one day and we will be able to release a few more (not too many) of the Legends V-2 Red and Blue decks. I'll keep you all posted.
