You're welcome. Tannen's is a legendary New York magic shop that's been in continuous operation (with perhaps seven relocations) since 1925. The founder, Louis Tannen, published and re-published quite a number of the best magic manuals around - a fair percentage of the books at dananddave.com were published at one point or another by Tannen. His shop also creates and packages unique magic effects for anything from street illusions all the way up to major stage productions. The shop also operates a legendary summer camp for budding child magicians, one of the most famous attendees being David Blaine.
Anyone with any serious involvement with magic in New York has at least heard of if not set foot in Tannen's. I like to think of it as the best little store you're never heard of, because they don't advertise much beyond their own website. The store is on the sixth floor of a nondescript office building across the street from the Empire State Building; there are no storefront windows and no signs indicating that an 86-year-old magic institution resides within. If you have a desire to learn about magic, you'll hear about Tannen's from somewhere, and that's where the regular clientele come from - no looky-loo tourists looking for trinkets to bring home or kids cutting school to shoplift! There's a fair chance that at any given time during the store's short day - open only from noon to six on weekdays, even less on weekends - you'll find a few local magicians, perhaps a pro, perhaps a hobbyist, all milling about talking shop and showing off tricks to each other.
I'd be very surprised if during his "mecca" to New York, Alex doesn't stop in if only for a little look-around. He's probably been there many times before.
