What's up guys! Name's Derek, if you couldn't tell by my username I so ingeniously created..


A little about myself - I used to be into magic like crazy about 4 years ago. Did a few shows with my buddy and then dropped out. I followed another one of my passions - cars. Oh and photography. You can check out my site here as a side note - www.AFocusPhotography.com. ANYWHO, I've been doing that for years now and just recently got back into magic, and most importantly - cards. I have a collection of like 50 decks now, also have a friend who is attempting to beat Rick Smith Jr's throwing card record this December 28th. He really got me back into cards. Originally throwing them - I can throw about 150+ feet. Now i'm back into learning cuts, flourishes, and collecting! Great to be here, plan on being active.  :D


CLIFF NOTES - I was into magic, then lost interest, now back into collecting cards. Nice to meet you guys!

Yeah, once you start then you get addicted.. I can cut celery and carrots, and a banana once! It's fun but i waste so many decks haga

Did you use a tutorial to get started? I could try to get a brick of bikes from costco sometime and practice ::)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, I can tell I'll love it here  ;D

And to answer Moone's question - No tutorial, i did look at a video or two on Rick Smith Jr and watched how he threw. Also my friend attempting the world record taught me how to throw better. Let me know if you need a pointer or two. And definitely get the Bicycles to practice. One you get good at it the Bicycle Prestige fly amazing, or get the plastic ACE playing cards for much less.

About to leave and hopefully see my friend break the world record for throwing a card! I'm planning on using the channel more, sharing it with my friend too, he was the one in the background there.  :D
