Regarding the gaffs, and I will need to double-check a few decks sometime soon.

The first run (5k decks, originally sold in April 2004, sold out in just a few days, white-pipped only) came with a duplicate queen, and possibly the white-faced 3.  I know they had the dupe card.

The early-run 2nd edition decks (white-pipped, and introduction of red-pipped and UV sensitivity) came with the white-face 3 and the tilted Ace of Spades.

If you have a red-pipped deck, it is not a first edition, as it was only available starting with the 2nd edition.  Depending on if it was early or not, it may have gaffs or ad cards.

If you have a UV-sensitive white-pipped deck (may not say UV on the box) it is also 2nd edition.

If I have the time, I will post some pics and/or videos that detail the differences between decks so folks can determine what they have a little more easily.

I double cheched my deck, and realise I got 2nd run or after, not the first one.
I got the white 3 of clubs, with no tilt ace of spade.

I'm not sure where the tilted ace of spade came from.
Possibly the early 2nd run has both ace and 3 gaff.
And might be that 3r or 4th run has only the white 3 gaff.

I don't know about the red pips, cause I got only the most recent run.

I can't see the seal color of this deck. Can you tell me if it is red?

I have four different versions of Black Tiger decks(just boxes or seal, all unopened) (all Ohio made)

Can't see it?  Where are you looking?

The red/white pipped decks came with red seals, not the all-white pipped ones.  Those (if I remember correctly) were black.

I just checked on the deck I posted. It has a red seal and all the black tiger decks I have owned, be it white or red pip, UV-500 or air cushion, all of them have red seal. Hope it helps.

Well, I was looking at the photos in the thread and I can't see the seal on any of them, that's why I asked.

all my red/white lipped decks have red seals but I have one white pipes deck with red seal.

Summarizing, I have (ALL FROM OHIO)

- White pips no barcode Air Cushion red seal
- White pips barcode (no reveal) UV500 red seal
- White pips barcode reveal UV500 red seal
- White pips barcode reveal UV500 black seal
- Red pups barcode reveal UV500 red seal

Just in case it helps. if you need photos, I can try to scan them when at home...

These are pics of the first Black Tiger deck ever released by Ellusionist... I have a beat up open one if you need to know what's inside... I wouldn't take less than $100, given what's going on with collecting these days (not selling this one though)... This is the deck that got me started... The concept of printing a unique deck of USPCC was so revolutionary and exciting... I don't believe anything like this had been done before... I think this was the deck that started it all... I remember waiting for the release date and you could keep on buying them for weeks... No one was collecting cards like they are nowadays (look at me sounding like an old timer)...

That's pretty much it, since E discontinued the white-pip version of Black Tiger.  New white/red-pip Black Tigers are probably Performance Coating.

Hey all,

First post here. Love that I found a bunch of card nerds like me =)

So I have a bunch of what I believe are 2nd run BT's. They are:
1. Red curlicues, no barcode, say "AIR CUSHION"
2. White curlicues, no barcode, say "AIR CUSHION"
They're not first runs, because the white 808 has the dash (808-), and because red.

But, they don't say performance coating, but say air-cushion, but aren't barcode...so, are these UV500?

I'm pretty sure that if they say "Air Cushion" as the finish instead of UV500, they're Air Cushion, not UV500.  But I could be mistaken, so don't take this like the word of the gods or anything like that.  The oldest ones, as far as I know, said "UV500 Air Flow Finish" on the side, meaning they had the UV500 stock.

The red or white curlicues indicate which version of the deck you have - there used to be two versions, a version with all-white pips everywhere and all white line art (white curlicues) and a version where the red suits had red pips and indices but everything else is white (red curlicues).  Today, the all-white version is discontinued, just as the silver/red version of the Tally Ho Viper deck (Original Circle Back) was discontinued in favor of the all-silver edition (Original Fan Back).  They said in both cases it was simply a matter of which deck's version was selling better.
