Dear collectors cards worldwide,

I'm real happy for you and I will let you finish, but your bridge-sized, pinochle, cigarette, airline and promotional decks are the most useless decks of all time. Of ALL time. Please stop cluttering eBay auctions with your lot of 142 pieces of junk.

Sincerely,
Everyone else

P.S. While you're at it, take your single-swaps and rip them in half.

Forum Founder.

Seriously, swap cards are annoying!

What's the point of them?

I just type "playing cards -swap -cigarette -bridge -pinochle -airline -plane -airplane". Just copy and paste that into eBay and the results drop immensely.

Ugh. Those single swap cards are seriously the bane of my existence.
On the topic, what exactly does a pinochle deck consist of? All I've heard is that it's a deck that's basically missing a few cards. Isn't that kind of... pointless?

I believe a Pinochle deck consists of all cards 9 - A (High card) and it has 2 of each suit of those cards. It's not pointless... They are used to play the card game Pinochle.

I like buying Bike Pinochle decks, because they are cheap, and I can take a card from the pinochle deck, put it in my standard bike deck, force it for a trick where someone signs a card, or TnR's, and not ruin a full deck for a while.

Ah, thanks for the explanation. And yeah, now I see why they're not useless. I made that comment back when I thought it was just a normal deck that was missing the court cards or something odd like that. Which is why I thought 'Why don't these Pinochle players just bother removing a few cards from a normal deck, rather than having to buy a special deck?'. But yeah, now I see that I was wrong.

Pinochle decks are actually great for getting a lot of extra court cards for gaffs and the like, but are terrible for collecting.

I really don't like people who sells those things on Ebay. I try to search for a decent deal on a deck, and the first page I come to is FULL of swap cards and useless lots!

Its always if you sort from lowest to highest its single swap cards for the first few pages, and if you go highest to lowest its all the 144 decks of horrible cards ones, It's mighty annoying.
Mystery is the basic appeal of magic. Once the secrets are known, the magician becomes a mere manipulator, an actor in a suspense drama which has little impact because the audience knows the ending in advance.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

Hey, just like there's a market for things magic and cardistry, there's a market for other cards-related ephemera, and those collectors will take used decks.  It's rare to find older decks that are still sealed, and they're generally an order of magnitude more expensive.

The single-swappers like a certain aspect of card design, like the Ace of Spades, the Joker, the card back, etc. and will collect just that card from the deck - it's a less expensive way to get into an expensive hobby.

Just filter out the stuff you don't want like Loldudex2 does and you don't have to see what you don't want to.  Personally, I can get lost just window-shopping some of the assorted vintage playing cards for sale, not always just the new, limited-edition, magic-oriented, etc.

Dude, what exactly are you trying to say?  And what's with the huge Courier font?  It's hard on the eyes...

I second what you said about the font. It looks like a confidential letter or something.

Dear Alex, Don’t use ...
Dude, what exactly are you trying to say? ...

1. Alex expressed his interest in quantity of messages in one of Discource’s letters. It’s not my habit to parade letters on forums. I am sure that letter was sent to you too. So you can do a little research in your e-mailbox.
2. Alex isn’t a child. Abovementioned message is very naive and provocative at the same time.
 3. I hope you remember all that hype and PR about Theory11’s Monarchs.

... And what's with the huge Courier font?  It's hard on the eyes...
...Also that font is killing my eyes  ???

Sorry for that. I understand you and agree with you. But unfortunately this forum sometimes has problems with pasted messages. Courier 12 was the only way to avoid some garbage like "[ / font ]", "[ / size ]" in my message.

...The last part of your post is really confusing as well...

Did you get my good-natured irony in both my messages on the forum? :)

No, not really.  Nothing funny or ironic about it.  In fact, it falls a bit short of making sense.
