I'm new to this forum so I'm hoping this is the right place to post this...
I've always wanted to design a custom deck of cards so I'm just going ahead and trying.
The theme is candy and is in a very exaggerated colorful palette.
I'm still early in development, so any feedback is greatly appreciated!
So far, it's looking intriguing. The color palette is pretty cool - are you planning to make the deck with four different colors for the four suits? Some designers like to go for that, but there are some collectors who stay away from four-color decks. They're great for games like bridge, where making a bid in the wrong suit can be a problem, but they're terrible for games like most forms of solitaire, where a two-color, four-suit deck is practically written into the rules.
There are ways to both have your cake and eat it, too, as it were - having both a two-color deck and a four-color deck. A popular method is to make the pips in two colors, but then use four different colors for pip outlines. Another is to make the pips four colors and to outline them in two colors. Another is to pick shades in the same family for the two suits that are usually the same color - for example, bright red and pink for the red suits, medium blue and navy blue for the black suits, etc. It helps to keep the red suits as brighter, lighter colors and the black suits as deeper, darker colors when using this method.
Keep up the development and keep us posted. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing more artwork.
