Hello i'm new of this forum, and I know that this is a strange topic.

But yesterday S&P has downgraded Italy in BBB+ and this is a very bad thing for the economy of my country...in Italy we doesn't understand why S&P in a year downgraded us from AAA to BBB+.........BBB+ is a class of quite poor country but Italy doesn't a poor country.
We have too many problems like corruption, waste of public money, crime, too many taxes, unemployment, Vatican ( my opnion ) and many other problems, but the real economy is good, I think we have the same things of americans and germans people, like luxury cars, smartphone, we leave for holidays....we produce and sell in all over the world many things like wine, cars, dress, crafts ecc....

I know that isn't the best place to tell about this but is only way for me to know what the world's people thinks about Italy.

Thanks
Bye
Massimo

I don't think people's opinions of Italy have anything to do with the downgrade.  The US was downgraded months earlier by the same company, though not as low as that - I think it was from AAA+ to AAA, or from AAA to AA, some small step like that.

They're looking at the country's economic viability in the long and short term.  If the country's struggling for income sources, and taxation of the citizens is a prime source of that, they're totally screwed when people start becoming unemployed, under-employed or take pay cuts to remain employed.  You can squeeze the stone harder, but you still won't get any blood out of it.

I have no real idea as to what the state of Italy's economy is - I don't read the news very often lately, and when I do it tends to be news of a more domestic nature.  In hard times, people often look inward rather than outward, even if they're missing important information that way.  But obviously there are enough factors affecting the country's cash flow situation that Standard and Poor think their ability to pay their debt is at risk. It's why the US got downgraded, but since we appear to be in a better situation overall, our downgrade was nowhere near as deep as that of Italy.

Hey, it could be worse - you could be living in Greece...  No offense to the Greeks, but their economy has been to hell and back.

And there is no such thing as a bad serious topic in the Talk Park.  Silly topics are reserved for the Lol-A-Query-Um.  :))  Relax, you're among friends!

Thank you Sabacc,
I'm starting to think that there is someone behind this downgrade, my country is one of few european countries that have budget surplus...I think some Chinese investment group...maybe they not accept that italian women are more beautifull of their girls  ;)

I hope that everything will be fine.

Thank you very much
Bye

The women are a matter of opinion... Living in a very multicultural city, I must say Chinese girls tend to attract me the most out of all other nationalities. ::)
Though I do have a bias towards Vietnamese ones (Even though I don't like their language)... Anyway, back to Italy. It is one of the top countries in my travel wishlist, and if I had the chance, I would likely visit several Italian cities rather than just one. Even the language is one that I'm very interested in learning. ;)

In the end, it will all work out, I'm sure.  It's not like Italy is going out of business...  :))

Having a current budget surplus means less if the country's near-future debt-to-earnings ratio is expected to get significantly worse, thus wiping out the surplus and then some.  You'd have to look at the reasons for the downgrade.

To the women I was joking...I like all women of the world and some asian girl is very very sexy....but I think that my favorite type of woman is nothern europe girl, like swedish girls.

To the downgrade, we really start to think that is an attack to Italy and European system, because it's not possible downgrade France, Italy and Austria and other country in a day. We can accept to downgrade Italy but France is a very strong country and Austria is a small and very rich country....in addition we think is impossible downgrade now european country when 2 years ago there was more problem but S&P gave us AAA+.

I think that our problems is political, because any european country is linked to the other with money, but we aren't politically united...the europian council has no powers, and there are 27 national governament that think at the national interest.

The only ones who have power in Europe are the banks. One thing scandalous, the European Central Bank has lent 160 billion euro to private banks with an interest rate of 1% to help families and companies...instead they used this money to buy italian and other's country bond at 6% of interest rate....

Anyway if you want to visit Italy, i would like to suggest you some cities...
-1 Rome: is one of the most beatifull city in the world...
-2 Venice: Very beatifull, especially during the carneval...i suggest you to go to Venice in winter because in summer there is the bad smell of canals.
-3 Siena: Is a small medieval city, it seems that time stopped at middle age...very beatifull
-4 Turin: In winter is wonderfull, renassance buildings, Venaria's Palace, egiptian museum, snow by the street, you the can see mountains at the end of the streets.
-5 Florence: I don't like very well, i think that is too overstimated, but is beatifull and there are uffizzi museum.

If you need other information to italy, ask to me ;)

Regarding S&P, they're under investigation in this country.  It's not impossible that there's some under-the-table dealings going on there.

Roma, Venezia e Firenze were already on my list, but I'll look up a bit more about the other two. ;)
Venice's carnevale is one thing I'd love to see, but the city must be crowded around that time... :-\

@Sabacc : I'm sure that there is something of strange behind S&P and other rating company.

@Moon: It's my opinion that Siena and Turin are very most beautifull then Florence. Also Lucca is pretty.
But the best is Rome...I don't know what a turist see of my city, but there are amazing places that know only romans citizen and are beautifull.
