ARTIST & DECK: Alessandra Gagliano (Jocu Playing Cards) & Under the Moon

Jocu Playing Cards are the brainchild team-up of Alessandra Gagliano and Anthony Holt, a very prolific team since their first project, the Green Man, back in 2019.  Ms. Gagliano is nominated this year for Artist of the Year, and the team's "Under the Moon" project is nominated for Deck of the Year.

Under the Moon is themed after the mythology and folklore of the animal kingdom.  Three decks were made as part of the release: Midnight blue, Moorland green and Moonrise pink.  A special triptych edition set of all three decks was also created - the three decks repackaged in boxes that, on the fronts and backs, form a three-panel image.  The artwork is quite attractive, reminding me of the illustrations you'd find in a well-made children's fairy tale with animal characters.
