Q1 Fail on Bee Deck

So with all the custom decks on the market these days I rarely buy a standard deck anymore but for kicks I picked up a Bee a week ago.  Easy win right?  Wrong... I have a bee and for the first time its not Q1.  I mean the edges are the epic fail with the deck but thats a pretty big aspect of the deck.  I cant farro the cards at all.  It like picking up a bicycle second with edge problems and I have one with just that problem so it was easy to identify.  Thing is, I cant believe that i'm having this issue with a bee.

Standard Bees kinda suck.  Get the casino grade ones; they're not much more expensive (like $1.50 more) but the quality is fantastic as opposed to pretty poor.

Then again, a bad deck can happen in any print run... I have the same problem with my stingers. The edges are ridiculously rough. :-\
Kanped, where do you buy your casino Bees?

I'm in Canada anyway, so shipping is always expensive...
But shipping isn't an issue as much as currency. Our dollar is weak in comparison. :-\

Actually, standard bee's are casino quality.  There made on bee casino.  So... but I agree there are bad decks in the run of the mill but I was just supprised.

Well, I've never seen a Bee deck that DIDN'T say "casino quality" on it, but I don't think that means they're all printed on what USPC refers to as Bee Casino stock.  The premium cards with the gold borders are more like the top-shelf stuff.  And are off-the-shelf standard Bees actually printed at Q1?  I'd think more like Q2 or Q3.

Use the guarantee and get a replacement.  USPC is good about that - it helps them spot problems in the production process and correct them.

As of this writing…

1 Canadian Dollar = 0.98406 US Dollar

If you think that's weak for the CAD, you have a -very- short memory.  :]

Once upon a time a handful of years ago, I could get closer to C$1.20 for US$1.00.  Now, it's at C$1.01 for US$1.00 - practically equal in value.  I remember 'cause I ordered a set of bagpipes from a Canadian manufacturer for my ex-wife back when we were still married and saved well over $100 compared to what it would cost if I ordered today and it was the same price.

There's a lot to take in with that sentence...

Anyway, when I say casino quality, I know they say that on the pack but I'm referring in particular to the 825 Bee Casino stock being used.  Standard Bees I think look good and have a nice finish but the stock is horrendous.  With the 825 stock, they're just about my favourite cards in print right now.

Do you like both versions of the Premium Bee deck?  There's the one you linked to, and there's another which has a bumblebee instead of the Bee name and comes in a tuck box with an all-gold front.  I just placed orders for both earlier this evening with fullboatdealer on eBay.  He refers to your deck as the "gold leaf" deck, and the other as the "bumblebee" deck.  Also says they're all Ohio-made, meaning they're out of print unless Erlanger is making them again.

I didn't even see these until after the move to Kentucky but I just checked and all mine are Ohio-made (unless they actually made them in Erlanger and just printed that in an attempt to shift more of them.  Who knows?).  As for the other ones... I ordered a deck of them but they weren't in the package and I completely forgot to do anything about it.  I think they sent me 4 'goldleaf' instead of 3 and one 'bumblebee'.  AFAIK, they're exactly the same stock and finish.

Actually, when I was a kid, the trade value between US$ and GBP was around $2 for one pound.  That's a VERY good value there, especially when you consider that the C$ and US$ are practically equal now.

i see many posts that are not useful to this thread..including my own obviously..just don't see the reason to call them out unless they are obviously doing it to spam up a thread. I don't follow that guy so i don't know if that was his intention but calling one out and not others isn't right..in my own opinion.

I'll grant that the topic veered into left field when we started going on and on about currency, but it was a topic of interest and there was a meaningful discussion about it.  Saying "bee decks are alright i like them" doesn't add much of anything - unless the author explains more about why he likes them, or what little details about them rub him the wrong way, or how the quality has improved/gotten worse, etc.  The author admitted elsewhere that he was doing a fair amount of trolling when he first appeared here, but has changed handles and states he's changing his ways, and the issue is now over.

Having said all that, KC does have a point; let's try getting back on topic.
