So at the advice of another thread, I stumbled upon a German website selling a deck of black centurions for what at first glance appeared to be about $6.  With glee I jumped at the opportunity and ordered one.  About 4 1/2 minutes later I sat staring blankly at my computer screen wondering how the shiny 4,12  € that I saw on the main page turned into a $36.06 charge on my paypal receipt.  Curse you exchange rates and international shipping!

So, to date, the black centurions are the most amount of money I've ever spent on a single deck of cards (excluding the LTD or Gold Arcane decks I got as free gifts for buying a lot of money worth of other stuff).

What's the most you have ever spent on a single deck of cards -- nothing else, JUST a deck of cards (shipping included)?

None of my decks are from resellers so they are all from the maker of the deck. And they were all obviously cheap (less than $10)
Of course the limited ones are worth much more than that now but I bought them at the low prices.

The most CASH I've spent on a single deck was a "Get Sharkey" deck in Phoenix deck design - $80 at Tannen's in Manhattan, no shipping, nearly 9% sales tax.  It was part of a HUGE purchase I made, about $1,100 in cards and magic.

The most I spent on a non-magic single deck was for a pack of Moth/Myth, recently bought on eBay - $40 plus $5 in shipping.  (I bought two, plus two Watcher decks, all from the same seller.)

I think its about $15 for an Absolut deck. I felt it was a pretty decent deal though.

I don't think that I've payed a large amount of money for any 1 deck. I'm looking at getting the Bape X Bicycle deck which will be the most expensive deck if I do follow through, at 30 bucks for the deck (not including shipping)

You spent $75 on ONE red artifice, or E had a deal where you could take one home for spending $75 in their store?  It's different if you take home magic supplies along with the deck.

Hey, gang, I have an even BIGGER question for you, related to the topic:

How many of you have opened the most expensive deck they've ever bought?

In my case, yes, I have.  I don't care how rare, I generally open one of each style I get.  If I can get two, I keep the other as a backup, but when I wear out the original, I'll use that replacement.

My most expensive open deck would have to be my Red Artifice, I bought eight on release so opening one was not a problem. I am still tempted to open up one of my pre-release monarchs because I have 2 sealed still after selling one.

Yeah I open all my decks. Like Phantom once said, they aren't used to me if I open them. To me they are still new and retain their value. I can understand why somebody would keep their sealed, but that's not my style.

I didn't open my Wynns.  I would if I get another deck.  Most valuable I've opened is probably IAOCP.

$80.00 for a Golden Nugget deck.  I did open them and they definetly have a different feel than newer cards...some say they handle like Jerry's and they were printed in the same time period...but I wouldn't know...I don't own any Jerry's! :(

did a quick search for you, here's the link http://thecardcollectors.blogspot.com/2012/01/product-catalogue-december.html

i'm not sure whether its the type you're looking for (I don't know much about golden nuggets) and whether they do international shipping.. try contacting them, but it's chinese new year now in singapore so it'll take awhile, cheers!  :)

might bring up the value by lots if $80's really the actual price!

There's a number of different Golden Nugget deck versions out there.  Some are nearly worthless, others are very valuable.

my GN was a the dark green with the gold writing on the back. I believe they were printed in the 70's around the same time as the JN's (although I could be wrong). I would show you pictures but I've already traded the deck to a friend. If you search the ebay listings these decks usually sell for $80-$100 currently. I bought mine a couple of years back so they could be more or less now.  I would assume the GN listed for sell for $9 is probably not the same deck but who knows it could be worth checking!

If it was the "gold coin in the sandat the beach", I'd think someone would have snagged it long ago.  Anything's possible, just not always likely.
