Poll

What is your opinion regarding the extra card w/credits?

Regular backs on both, credits on one in small print, AC ad on the other.
Credits on both sides of one in medium-sized print, AC ad on the other with regular back.
Credits on three sides in regular print, AC ad on the fourth.
I really couldn't give a flying fig and have no opinion - do what thou wilst.
I want something different, and I'll describe it in a post below...

A small run would be the way to go, we can't really afford funding challenges. I would assume 2500 decks to be more than enough, considering the nature of the deck.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:
I'm not designing any of the cards due to lack of skills needed, but I suggest that for sanity's sake you consider having ONE person do an entire VALUE, like all the fours or all the Queens.  Thirteen designers, plus one for the jokers, one for the back, one for the box, one for the ad cards and/or gaffs.  That's SEVENTEEN designers.  Because if you do it this way, you're going to have as much as FIFTY-EIGHT designers - and design by committee often gets ugly fast; the bigger the committee, the uglier and faster.  Getting 17 people to agree on something will be hard enough, don't you think?

That's just my two cents - feel free to do as you wish.

I agree completely, though exceptions could be made for the court cards in particular if someone doesn't have the time needed. In fact, since a number value isn't too hard a task and since I didn't take the whole Queens set, I'd like to have the sevens as well. Unless we run out of cards, then I could leave them to someone else. :P

Depending on the level of customization, the number cards can be as difficult as the courts, if not more so.  Look at the Curator Deck!

That's something you folks need to decide on - level of customization.  'Cause if you're going for simple spot cards, you don't even need nine or ten designers - you'd need two at best: one for the AoS and one for the rest.

But the point is to have a lot of people participate in the creation, to make it a true Discourse deck. :P
Of course simple standard-layout number cards aren't good enough, but I don't think any of us can pull a new curator deck either, besides of course Ncyclopedia. Speaking of which - we NEED him to participate! :o

Krystle, if you want, you can give us some ideas and we'll try to honor them. ;)
I chose the Queen of Hearts for obvious reasons - and the jokers for the complete freedom they offer. They can be anything! ;D

I'd like the Nine of Diamonds, king of hearts, and once the whole deck is done, I'd Luke to help with the box. Also, at te end if there is no cards anyone else will pick up, I will take them.

Also, I think the Ace of spade should be like the Charity Water deck, I'm that it is a bunch of small images, making up the giant Spade Pip, only I'd like the pictures to be the signature of everyone who helped completed it.

Also, will this deck be themed, because I think it'd be awesome if there was no theme and we all just had fun with the faces of our cards. It's be awesome if it was just random (I think anyway).

Lastly, will this be like a transformation type deck?

YES. That is a GREAT idea! How about this: One person prints out the spade shape and signs inside, then scans it back for the next person to sign until we have a full spade. It would be awesome!

As for the theme, you'Re right - mismatched themes would look great, as long as the colors don't clash too much. And it doesn't have to be a full transformation deck like the Curator, but we can certainly add our personal touch to each number card. ;)

The Queen of Spades is very narcissistic. She indicates a woman who is blessed (or cursed) with sharp perception, and highly honed intuition. She is acutely analytical, with a razor-sharp ability to get to the heart of a situation, seeing exactly what is, rather than what others would wish her to see.

She is a private woman, unwilling to let people too close to her until she is satisfied she thoroughly understands their motivations. But once won as a friend, she is unfailingly loyal, honest and supportive.

She's usually very intelligent, with a dry sense of humour. Her penetrating insight will often reveal aspects of themselves to others that they had previously been unable to grasp - thus she is a capable therapist, teacher or leader.

Which is why i love the queen of Spades. :P She really reminds me of myself.

That's an idea, but I'm kinda afraid that since everyone doesn't have great quality printers/ scanners, the quality would deteriate pretty badly. I think we should all either scan our autograph in and then it gets compiled into an ace, or we could send our signatures to one person, and they do all the work for scanning it in and fitting it into place. I just fear with your idea that the AiS won't have enough space if we all write our names in ourself.

Hmm... I could attempt something along those lines, I'll see what I can do. After I sleep that is. That's a very detailed description that would allow for a lot of details, and I like characters with their own unique personality. ;)

About that ace of spades, you're right, printer quality and the amount of spade are both issues. If we go with the individual signatures, one of the more design-oriented guys should take the job for the best possible result, since they're likely to have experience with this kind of thing already. :)

Yes, there is a lot of talent here but honestly, a group made deck will be very hard to make. Agreeing on designs, assigning jobs, etc. are going to be hard

Hey guys,

I will update the list of who is doing what on page 2 when I get home tonite, it is way to hard on my phone. Also It was suggested that I do all the aces, I don't know if this is a good idea because I am not super educated with design. Although I would do like all the fives.

People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

Ok. If possible, start doodling and coming up with ideas for the back, and your assigned card(s). We can work from there. I do not want to sound harsh, but if we want this to work out, we can't sit with our arms crossed, waiting for the others to do the work. I am willing to carry this project as long as we all contribute. Let's get started and try having some rough drafts of cards and back designs by Sunday February 5th, 2012, 6PM Pacific Standard Time.
We should have a group iChat session as soon as possible, too, with the printed version of the cards. BTW, the non-court cards do not need to be very complicated.
Good luck,
Nathan
PS: plz tell me if you're good with what I put in the list. Alex has already clearly stated what he would help with, but said he wouldn't carry the project.
