Poll

What is your opinion regarding the extra card w/credits?

Regular backs on both, credits on one in small print, AC ad on the other.
Credits on both sides of one in medium-sized print, AC ad on the other with regular back.
Credits on three sides in regular print, AC ad on the fourth.
I really couldn't give a flying fig and have no opinion - do what thou wilst.
I want something different, and I'll describe it in a post below...

I think you should make the third heard visible though. When someone is looking at the deck they won`t know that it is supposed to be a failed parachute. But if you want to keep it that way that is cool. :)

Also who can I send my Ace to for them to touch it up in photoshop? Pm me whoever can please.

People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

  • Pick a card, any card...no, not THAT card!

  • Facebook:

2) I kinda disagree with you Don :O because I think that our ad cards should have normal backs and not be double-facers.
3) If we have two ad cards with normal backs, the first one will be AC's ad card, so we can't put any names on that one. The second one should also have a normal back, which leaves us a whole face of a card to write 25 names. We will have more than enough space!
4) So, finally, what I'm saying is that I think we should trust Derek, put only the names of the artists on the AoS, and put ALL of the names of those who contributed in one way or another on one face of the extra cards, with a normal back.

The concept behind using the ad cards was for a list of credits, not just names.  You could fit a list of 25 names and how each person contributed to the job, but you'd need strong reading glasses to read them all.  If you want them in a reasonably-sized font, you need more room on which to print them.

We discussed this before about the credits - why have you suddenly stated that things "should" be a different way?  Perhaps you should put that up for a poll instead, since the card back is locked down at this point.

BTW: I do agree with the idea of artist's signatures on the AoS and all contributors on the credits.  It will make for a neater appearance on the Ace.

Hey Lara, I really like that two of diamonds! Keep in mind, the borders need to be white.

yeah About that.... I just used that magic wand thingy to select the whatever space... and yeah..... ***im a loser*** when in comes to that. but I did save it as a PXD r photoshop file so randy can just make the borders white ^_^ sorry randy.... ^_^

I'm sure it's no big deal. Someone could probably fix it within a matter of seconds.

I do hope so. I now really regret not saving the uncolored version. ****STUPID ME****

@Nathan - I will most probably be inactive in the coming few weeks, have my exams this coming mon and wed and next I will have to prepare for my 6 weeks trip to china(not sure if this website will be block or not over there). I feel that there's a need to tell you this since you're the leader for this project. I will try to rush my work when I come back from china. Please don't kick me from this project :( haha just joking!

On a side note, anyone can recommend any shops in Beijing that sells playing cards at good prices? Sorry for being off topic here!

Just went back and checked out those designs! They are pretty clever. I'm liking a lot of the drawings I've seen for this deck  :D Keep up the good work guys!

p.s.- is there going to be a new poll? What's the next thing that needs to be worked out?

Hey Guys!

So yeah... a photo editing illiterate me working with a crappy image editor and yeah. I'm not too familiar with the other stuff this editing software can do but yeah. I have not "really" flattened the images.... but yeah. This is more or less the 2 of diamonds.

Yes there are lines on the BG. I wanted it look somewhat like lines on a leaf... but this is the closest I can get to be because I really really don't know how to do this. ^_^

Please be kind :(

Also feel free to make it look better if needs be ^_^

Sorry, we just got back from a trip up to Michigan. Lara, the 2 of Diamonds is very pretty!! I would love to redraw it, add a white border and play around with the background image. I can take care of prepping all of Lara's 2s to give Derek a break from the rest.

Thanks, Randy

@Don - The AC ad card will be however Alex wants it to be, so we have no say on whether it will have a normal back or not. However, for the remaining card, I will put up a poll. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm suddenly changing my mind about this extra card. I didn't know that this had already even been talked about (silly me). I just wanted to express my differentiating point of view.
@slyS - I hope you have  a good time in China, but don't forget to work a bit on your threes, if you can! :P
@Randy - How was Michigan? (I don't want to meddle, I just was wondering  ::)
Here goes the poll!

I will see how things goes about. Sorry for being off topic again!

I honestly don't care about the 2 extra cards.

And seriously? Who picked the first option that says "do not select"?

I think we should ICUs on the main deck first. Besides, we don't even have all the artists, so why bother with the extra cards now?

EDIT: Focus, not ICUs. I'm on my iPhone and autocorrect happened.

Yeah leave it until the end. I think the focus should be on the cards/art right now. There's no need for ad cards if you don't have a deck ;)

@slyS well it's fine. I have work on the weekdays so I can only meet you in the weekends. But I really do want to meet up with you sometime! It would be so much fun and we can make the rest of The Discourse jealous lol hahahaha just kidding you guys.

Anyway, back to topic.... Stupid iPad selected the 1 option while it was submitting my vote.... I want to change it but. Don't think there is a way but anyway, my vote was for the 2nd option.

You also seem to have forgotten that Alex stated he didn't care what went on the back of his ad card, right?

I demonstrated examples of art decks where they used the ad cards as a comprehensive list of credits done in a clear and legible way.  One specific example was for an artists' deck that's released annually, where one artist does all the cards for a single suit (sound familiar?).  Using three of the four faces for credits allowed for all of the people working on this deck in one form or another to get their name and a credit for what they did without the print having to be squint-small.

How did you manage to create that poll?  It doesn't even list the option I suggested, and the current leading option is the one no one is supposed to vote for!

[bangs forehead on keyboard]

Is there a specific reason why you think it would be better to print all the credits on a single side of one ad card, and to have the regular card back on both ad cards?

Please restructure the vote to read like this, if you don't mind:

Question: Which do you prefer on the four sides of the two ad cards?
1) Regular backs on both, credits on one in tiny print, AC ad on the other.
2) Credits on both sides of one in small print, AC ad on the other with regular back.
3) Credits on three sides in regular print, AC ad on the fourth.
4) I really couldn't give a flying fig and have no opinion - do what thou wilst.
5) I want something different, and I'll describe it in a post below...

@Don - I didn't know he said anything could go on the back of his ad card. I thought he wanted to have complete control over the front and the back of the card, which left us with only 1 ad card. And I know it is kind of ridiculous that the first option has the most votes but Krystle said it was an error. I'm going to change the poll like you said.  ;)
