Poll

What is your opinion regarding the extra card w/credits?

Regular backs on both, credits on one in small print, AC ad on the other.
Credits on both sides of one in medium-sized print, AC ad on the other with regular back.
Credits on three sides in regular print, AC ad on the fourth.
I really couldn't give a flying fig and have no opinion - do what thou wilst.
I want something different, and I'll describe it in a post below...

Thanks for the answer.
I think this deck is very interesting.
Will it be printed by USPCC, and where will it be sold?

Our options for now seem to be either USPC or Archduke, both of which have their advantages I shouldn't have to point out by now. ;)
As to where it will be sold, well, it's called the Discourse deck, that should give you a hint. ::)

Okay nice.
And how many do you planned to print?

That hasn't been decided yet, but I remember Alex mentioned something about getting us a favor with USPC for a smaller-than-normal run. In the case of Archduke, lower costs would probably allow for a bigger run by comparison, but if the demand isn't high enough, it might not be worth it.

Krystle's blog post would be your best source of information if you want to avoid reading the whole thread, pretty much everything is there. It's a community project for Discourse members that is being run in a slightly chaotic way as of now, but if it gets finished, it should be a very interesting deck indeed. ;)

Ok. If everyone is okay with this, I am putting a deadline.
We need all cards to be assigned by Monday 19th of March 2011. And every single card should have at least one rough draft by 1 month from then, the 19th of April. That means that if everyone makes 1 draft per card they own, we should be close to being done by mid-April.
Oops, I missed your post.
I'd be fine with that, a month is a very reasonable delay for a draft.
Instead of posting a new comment everytime, could you put the list of what's taken or not in the original post instead so everyone knows where to look?

Putting some parameters on the time is a good move IMO. Luckily I will have time next week to put some stuff together of my four cards.

I'm really excited to see what your designs look like! We all know that you can design an awesome deck.

Ya but if we get a 5000 deck run from Archduke and a 2500 deck run from USPCC for the same price we might as well go with Archduke. Even if we didn't have the demand, all the artists could take a brick of cards, that would take the numbers down a bit. But going with USPCC brings in collectors of USPCC decks. idk what to do yet, we will have to vote later on.
People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

Alex also mentioned in the past that most print runs of under 5,000 at USPC are outsourced to other print companies.  I think Rajas will take smaller print runs, and at the least he's notably cheaper.  It remains to be seen regarding getting samples of additional stocks and finishes.

I think we can deal with this issue once all the designs will be completed and once we will have a sample from Rajas.

So if we go through USPCC would it just be Air cushion finish and Bike stock for cheaper Prod. costs?

If I recall, Bike and Aristocrat cost the same, with or without air cushion (though they call air cushion "embossing" in their quotes for some reason). Magic finish is $.20 per deck.

They told me about 90% of their custom jobs are Aristocrat/Magic these days.

I know that if we decided to go with USPC branding (Bicycle, Bee, Tally Ho, etc.) the Magic Finish is included.  Is anyone interested in going branded?  It costs a bit more but provides name brand recognition.

As I said before it all depends on how much funding we can get. If we get enough we could do this. If we don't we will have to find another alternative. But as of right now all this is out of the question.

Wow I totally forgot about the deck haha. I've been so busy lately that I strayed away from the computer and such. Seems like most other people did as well xD

Haha. It's ok. We moved very quickly at first, so, as long as we don't give up, it'll end up fine! I don't know what to do to get the momentum going.
