I haven't heard of these but I happen to like the style. Only thing I would be worried about is, for example. The D&D Carbon Clip does not keep the deck compressed really compared to a regular Porper Clip. Still though, I would like to have one of these. ;)

Eh... I'm not a big fan. I don't like the look of the design much at all. I can't imagine that would go well with any deck (besides maybe the V6)

Hey, that would go much better with a vintage plaid deck than those stupid cork clips! :P
Probably not something I'd use with all my decks, but still a pretty interesting piece... Do you know how much it's worth?

haha I'd take the cork card clip over this. This is just not my style at all. Was it a one of a kind piece? I've never seen it before and it doesn't look like a company distributed this in mass.

I get the feeling he had it himself.  That's all that D&D do, really - take Porper-made clips, "skin" them with various materials then mark them up for resale.

That bark clip would look really nice with the Cardistree deck, now in progress...

Hmmm.. Now I feel like making myself a navy speedcloth clip. It would go well with most of my favorite decks.
Let's start a revolution of do-it-yourself custom clips instead of buying them. :P

It's not exactly hard.

1) Buy Porper Clip.
2) Buy material of choice and glue.
3) Apply glue to clip, then material of choice.
4) Let dry.

and most important,

5) thumb nose at Dan and Dave for charging so much for so little.

Hmm their clips do have a custom shape, though. They don't have the M-shaped back, where the Joe Porper signature is; it's compeltely flat.
Then again, I'd think that the M-shape is there for a reason, and that removing it would actually be a bad thing.

As soon as I can get my hands on a black porper and some midnight blue suited speedcloth, I'm on it. :P

Kete is my good friend. I know him well and don't think the clip was made by himself. It is more likely the manufacturer sent him the clip and asked for his advice. Maybe people on this forum don't know this crazy guy collects all the playing cards you know, as well as the accessories such as clips, chips, and dice. He has kept posting at least an in-depth article about playing cards on the forums every single day for years and I have to say he is very famous in many Asian areas. His articles can even influence the markets here. I won't be surprised if he often receives interesting stuff from manufacturers. If he made this clip, trust me, you would have seen his name or logo craved on it.

I don't like the colors used and it looks too similar to the D&D Carbon Clip

The M-curves give it a spring-like clasp on the deck, hence the famous pressure they're known for.  A simple flat spine on a clip won't provide that pressure, but will protect the cards and help prevent warping.

D&D might have gone for the flat spine clips because the flexing action of the M-spring might cause the fabric to get tugged as it bends, weakening the glue bond to the metal.  But that's just a guess - go for it, give it a try, see what happens!

Not keen on the latest proper releases, the carbon clip was the last one I liked, the crowns porpers also looked nice with the logo.

If you're talking about the D&D Porper Clips, that's their doing, not Joe Porper.  They buy the clips from Porper, decorate them with whatever material is lying around and sell them at a markup.  I expect the next deck clip from them to be "grass clippings"...  After cork (ack!) anything is possible...

Yeh, im on about the dnd releases, I have an original porper with the grooved spine and I like it very much. I also have 2 dnd porpers from when they first released them a few years back but I these newly decorated ones are not my thing. I really liked the handlordz boxes and clips but missed those.

I've seen box-style deck holders, some with belt clips, at various magic shops.  Check them out.  Tannen's is a good place to start.
