It actually makes the decks cheaper to not have the Bicycle/Bee/Tall-Ho branding on it.

On a 2,500-5,000 print run... if you don't have the Bicycle Branding on it... you save over 50 cents per deck!

That's a $1250-2500 savings

CBJ

ahh ic, makes sense i guess since it's brand recognition.

Hmm... Linen Finish and Aristocrat stock is a new combo! (I think)
I don't think I own any Linen finish decks but I've heard good things about them. This makes me want to order them to try out Linen finish and the new combo!

The Aristo Banknote reprints were the same combination.

Here's an interesting conversation on a Skulkor post on Facebook.
It makes no sense to me why they are holding off the shipping.

It makes all the sense in the world, if they're planning to use the payments to pay for the print job and are BS'ing about the decks being printed already.

I think these guys decided it would be great to make a magic company that creates cards solely for the profit motive, and now they're seeing that their secretive natures are getting the best of them.  I'm tempted to cancel my order with all this shiftiness they're displaying.

52cartes wrote that this box is available only for orders of TWO bricks, not just one.  If I remember correctly, it's one red wax sealed deck per brick order, and the case in the photo has two of them.  This may be a box large enough to hold two bricks.

honestly im a bit confused why everyone is putting up with the shiftyness of all this. if DnD did this or any other well known company people would be up in arms. just because the company is new does NOT make it ok to do what they are doing.

(side note: dnd hasn't released a deck in a few weeks!!!)
have you heard the word???

I just realized I was reading that completely wrong. I thought it was buy a brick and get a Red Seal Deck making it 13 Decks. Just dawned on me that it's buy a brick and they'll drip red wax on one of them. I have a blue candle here, anyone want to buy a Black Crown with a blue Wax seal on it? It'll be a one of a kind  ::)

Are you being serious? Linen=Air Cushion with a different name. No more, no less. I though we all knew that already.

What about an emerald artifice with a silver wax seal? ;D

"Linen" is also the term used by many other companies to refer to their own air-cushion-type finish. We're talking about USPC decks here though, and USPC only has two finishes - smooth and air cushion. Aristocrat decks still use the term "linen" for the same reason that Bee decks use "cambric" - it's just part of the branding.

Fame is still in beta, remember?  Go ahead, mess with other people's fame to your heart's content; you'll be helping Alex's test.

Alex said as much a while back.  They offer you two choices of coating, "standard" or "magic finish".  The texturing of the cards is in the paper, not the finish, and the basic brands all have their own copyrighted terms for each.  This is what they've been historically as far as I know, all with the standard finish:

Bee: smooth = "Ivory"; textured = "Cambric"
Aviator: smooth = "Smooth".  Go figure...  Never seen them in a textured finish.
Aladdin and Bicycle: smooth = "Smooth"; textured = "Air Cushion".  One exception to this is the recent CARC release of Pro Bikes on Bee stock, where the smooth decks were called "Ivory Finish"
Tally Ho: textured = "Linoid", as in linen-like.  I've never seen a smooth Tally Ho deck.

At one time in history, perhaps, these were indeed unique formulations of card finish.  Today, they aren't.  Until Magic Finish came along last year, the stock was the only major difference between decks, and even that choice is now limited to variations of Aristocrat, Bicycle and Bee/Bee casino.  Bicycle casino is no longer made, and Tally Ho stock was replaced with a variant of Aristocrat.

so im pissed off with skulkor and pretty much done with them. I won a free brick and I am waiting 8 weeks for it. Since its free i dont complain. then i find out they have the cool brick box for the decks and the only way to get it is to buy atleast 2 bricks. which means i would have to buy another brick just to get it. honestly once i get my brick trading half keeping the rest and then im done with them. would rather spend my money with aethercards much better stuff IMO.

well the brick boxes were initially only for the packages that they put up but everyone kept asking for em so now they've said that they'll give them to whoever buys 2 bricks. i dont see anything wrong with that or why you're mad. they could have just said that the boxes are for the packages only and no one else. the thing is that they're now including the boxes at no additional charge to whomever bought 2 bricks, that's money out of their pockets so what is there to complain about. if anything whoever bought the packages like me (although i got it for free) should be mad. since if u look at the price of the package, 2 bricks plus a card clip costs something like 50 dollars more than 2 bricks alone. since the card clip doesnt cost 50 bucks, they already added the price of the brick box to the packages which is why you're paying more for the package. but now everyone else gets them for free so it is what it is.

they're doing it as a promotion cuz you're not even supposed to get that brick box unless you buy the packages. but now they're doing it as sort of a promo with a deadline, so u get 2 brick boxes if u buy 2 bricks as opposed to getting none which was the original deal. i dont know what there is to complain about since no one except those who bought the packages were even supposed to get the brick boxes to begin with.

this is what i hate about it when you try to do a nice thing, people always complain. it's the same with the ellusionist bonuses. you're not buying the bonuses themselves, they're just added incentive to make purchases. retail stores do this all the time but i dont see anyone going in there and complaining. however when ellusionist, t11 or in this case, skulkor does this, people start crying about how they dont get free stuff. gimme a break.

Would you just read what you wrote... Really??? You won a free brick... Some thankfulness and appreciation is what you should be showing... Who cares how long it takes and why do you feel so entitled... How old are you?

Actually, no - you shouldn't be so sure about something that isn't true.  The only way they were available initially was by ordering one of their special packages - all of which included two bricks of cards.

I think there's something more telling about what's going on here.  These people supposedly have the cards ready to roll, but are waiting eight weeks to ship.  Now they're revealing information they once failed to reveal, once people starting thinking there was something rotten in Hong Kong.  Now they're taking this premium item - yes, folks, it's a PREMIUM, not standard equipment - and widening the pool of people who are eligible to purchase it, all before they've even shipped a single pack.

If I was a betting man, I'd say they're lying about the cards being ready to ship - that they're counting on this sale to pay for the cards first.  It's the only reason that makes sense.  Furthermore, they probably projected much stronger sales - I'm guessing the response was lukewarm based on comments made here; a few deck orders here and there, but few bricks and few packages due to prohibitive shipping costs, a dodgy shipping schedule, and the fact that the cards aren't being well received due to minimal customization.  So now they're trying to prime the pump more by offering premiums to people who simply buy two bricks and don't get the package upgrade.

I'm wondering - what's the deadline for filing with a credit card company for a fraudulent sale?  Could it be less than two months?

I thought that at first as well.  Someone told me it was only large enough for twelve decks.  But then again, he could be wrong as well...

All this "secret brotherhood" crap's going to blow up in their faces in the end, I believe.  They must have widened the eligibility because their package deals contained all kinds of crap in them, some of which wasn't clearly explained, and were insanely expensive on top of their whopping shipping costs.  I can't imagine they sold more than a handful of those and they knew they'd be stuck with a buttload of handmade boxes.  They'd be better off simply selling the blasted boxes.
