Not as vintage as those but today I finished the vintage shelf on my deck display. I added two more Golden Nuggets and a 50s/60s Rider Back.

I don't have those vintage Bicycle decks either (actually I am used to call them antique decks), I like these '60-80s decks more. :P

Yup, had that link bookmarked when I started into vintage decks. But I'm yet to see a deck with one of those early stamps (prior to the 2 cent square stamps from 1894-1896).

@sxjy0109, what's the year of your Expert Back? It seems to be in good condition.

@digipunk, to be honest I can't tell you the year. You could probably know the range by looking at the stamp, but not the exact year. I don't have the deck with me right now, and won't until the summer cause I'm studying aboard. Probably should've kept a record of the year, and type of stamp, and whether jokers are missing or not for these vintage decks.  :-[

@digipunk,
cause I'm only here to study, it'd be a hassle for me to carry all the decks I bought here at once when I graduate. So I bring all the ones I can back whenever I head home during breaks.

@jmrock
Thanks for the laugh...I now have your BCG auction in my watch list.

Have to agree about the Trophy Whist being a beautiful and very worthwhile piece of playing card history, especially in perfect condition like that. Mine is missing the box and has slight play wear.

Even though my budget (thrift stores, estate sales, etc.) vintage decks are usually less than perfect, I get to see the whole deck without the stress of having to pop a seal. I can't stand  :-[ to have a deck and not see it as so many of you seem to have done.

People say nothing's impossible, but I do nothing everyday.

Today I found something that reminded me of you. But don't worry I flushed and everything went back to normal.

That one is actually harder to come by than some of the decks in the thread. You should be grateful!

Vintage card clips, and the best of my vintage and antique decks.
The last pic is of a partial deck found in a box of World War II photos. It is a mini deck, and since there are no indexes it may be older than the 1940s. If anyone has any information that may help me identify these cards I would really appreciate it.

That deck looks like it dates back from the 1800s...  because of the way the court cards look and the lack of indexes, and the material of the cards as well as the "Cromwell" written on them. JMO.

Thanks NathanCanadas. Does the Cromwell link to anything in particular for you? I agree it looks like 1800s. I have spent some time trying to find the origin of these, even consulted with a collector and dealer of old cards. He could not tell me anything but offered to buy them, perhaps knew more than he let on?

Thanks digipunk! I used one of the white ones to flatten a slight warp in the Trophy Whist deck shown above. It took several weeks, but it worked.

@Dazzleguts,

Yes, they are in great shape aren't they? The brown one does have wear but it doesn't show on the dark surface, more in the fading of the gold lines. The white ones have some wear inside. I found these at a local thrift store, and one of the white ones had an early 1900s deck in it. I don't think they are from as early a time as that deck is, but from the leather book jacket style, and the fact that they are made to hold a pack of cards without the box, I guess them to be at least as old as 1960s/70s, probably older. They are metal but are surfaced with a very thin but tough leather look paper, like a hot press paper. The craftsmanship is also very good.

Does anyone here know the history of card clips? There doesn't seem to be anything online. Did USPCC make any in years past?

I don't think USPCC was responsible for producing any card clips. Not back then, not now.

Though I like your clips, but I want the following one most...

The Expert At The Card Table Clip made by Joe Porper.

Cool clips.
Digipunk, Expert uses the book format like my vintage ones have. Is that printed right onto the metal?

Like that Expert clip but can't start thinking of collecting clips too, just couldn't afford it.

@VortexHead, good clip too.

@Dazzleguts, I don't have the clip. Yes, it is a Joe Porper clip and pattern is electroplated coated on it. If I remember right : there were only 2 of these clips produced (ordered by the Buck twins). Don't worry about the price, we don't have the chance to own them...
