It seemed like many of us here are somewhat into collecting vintage decks, so I decided to open up a thread to allow some to show off their vintage collection!

I'll start off with one of mine, some of you may have seen this in other forums, but I'll post again for others anyway.

Enjoy!  8)

It's called the Leaf Back, introduced by Bicycle in 1947. This particular deck should be dated c.1948 if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah I'm sure he is. Most of us here can't wait see his vintage collection. He talked a lot about it, but we haven't seen much evidence. Show us what you've got jmrock!

Gosh, this thread is going to make me jealous. I'm really interested in vintage decks.
The most vintage decks I've got are two Virginia Slims!

Don't you think many of the out-of-print vintage designs are so much better than those nowadays? Classics.
Post some pictures to share!

Nice collection! Are all of them sealed? I remember from UC that you mentioned you would only obtain sealed vintage decks, if I'm not mistaken.

What is that Service deck next to the Bicycle New Fan Back?
Edit: I took a closer look at the photo after clicking on it and reads WWII Arrco Service. Anyone have the stories behind this deck?

@sxjy0109, hahaha, I noticed the Service deck too because I have one.
You may refer to: http://a.trionfi.eu/WWPCM/decks03/d01964/d01964.htm
Now on eBay there is a Service deck with different jokers.

You really need to show us your collection! I've heard lots about it but yet to witness a photo! My guess is that you've got 200+ vintage decks and probably sitting on another 300+ of the newer ones.

@sxjy0109, I am not a serious collector. I only collect the decks I like. For example, every time I see a GN or 727, I can not control myself... I don't collect all the vintage decks I see unless I think them interesting or the prices are sweet (or I happen to be bored to death). My Arrco Service deck met the 2 conditions, it cost me only $10 including shipping.

I do have some vintage/antique decks, but they can not compare with others in terms of quantity and variety. And you know "人外有人,天外有天", there's always someone better. I don't like to list all my decks, however, when people talk about decks that I also have or am interested, I will try to post some pics then.

That's a sweet deal for the Arrco Service deck! Where do you get your vintage decks? eBay?
Well we've all got something that we want to get, but always out of the reach. I'd really love to see some of your collection and hopefully you'll change your mind and post a few pictures some day! It's really not compete with others, just to share with people what you've achieved in terms of this hobby.

P.S. What made you think I read Chinese?  ::)

Digipunk, I was the other bidder for that Arrco Service deck (I wanted it to complete my set). I forgot about the auction and lost it, though. I picked up my Service deck for about $16, and I am glad I did.

The Service decks were handed out to soldiers in combat during WWII, that's all I know about it.

sxjy, almost all of the decks are sealed. When I have a lot of duplicates of the sealed decks, I usually open one, so I have an open set of Slims, a Vegas Club, etc.

Levi, I picked up my second Jerry's almost a year ago. I got it about a week after  I made my deck collection video for the low price of $200 (Okay, not so low, but it was sealed in perfect condition I couldn't pass that up).

Wow if you've got duplicates of sealed vintage decks, you must have spent a lot of money to get them! To my knowledge, Rider Back sealed usually goes to an average of $50 per deck on eBay, although I have to admit it's not the perfect source to evaluate the market price of vintage decks.

Some people aren't into vintage decks like a lot of us do. But on the bright side, you'd save some money by avoiding dumping in big bucks just for one deck!

@sxjy0109, Taobao ;)

@alex, I am not the winner of the Service deck from UK. I got mine from a US seller and it's starting price for auctioning was $0.99. I reviewed the seller's feedback page and was surprised all the decks he'd sold were ended with $0.99-3. So I tried to contact the seller and made an offer of $10 including shipping, he was so happy... These vintage decks are so valuable to us, but they are simply 50+ pieces of papers in non-collectors' eyes ???

Ah that must have explained it. The post about Taobao for the Beijing Olympics deck eh?
It'd be considered VERY lucky that you could find someone that knows nothing about cards and sells them for such low prices. Usually people would at least spend a little time on the web to search for the basic background information before listing them.

Yeah I spent quite a bit of money, but I did get almost all of them at a relative bargain. For example, I got my blue Jerry's deck for $250, but it came with a free, sealed v1 S&M set. I got all my Slims for under $10 per set. I got the Golden Nuggets for $30. Every once in a blue moon, some bloke who has no idea what stuff is worth posts something on eBay. Sometimes I get lucky.

Are these all off of eBay? Someone's got time at his hand to do searches all day long!  ;D
Btw I'm envy of the Jerry+S&M V1 deal.
